Thanks for all the comments guys! Really awesome of you! Just got off of the gazelle... 50 minutes.. a whopping 500 calories!!! New record for me... my pinky toe started to fall asleep!!!! But I feel great! Ready for bed and my workout in the morning! WOOT... thanks everyone for helping me pull through my day...and thanks MTM&K for being the most wonderful woman, a man could ever ask for!!!!
 
Haha, well don't race too hard! I have the advantage been walking for two hours plus most days, as well as working on my feet a lot so I think that I've got more opportunity for heavy calorie burning. I also have the time to do it because my only dependant is my dog, and she's doesn't need the attention that kids deserve! I admire the fact you're actively losing weight and getting fitter, working and giving your wife and kids so much love at the same time! Good work!

Food really can cause a change in mood. I used to be happy just thinking about eating junk, and when I first quit it, it was very hard and I felt a bit hopeless. I think the brain chemistry gets mixed up. Once I had settled into a routine where food wasn't a leisure activity I became a lot more clear headed about the entire thing.

Don't beat yourself up for eating out. It's good to do occasionally, and I think it's a healthy thing to do. As long as you stay on the path the rest of the time, that weight will drop off as well. Do you have a night where you let yourself eat bad foods? I find it interesting to see how my attitude towards greasy food is changing as the weeks go by.

No we don't have a junk night... and It hink thats what happens...when we eat... and then snitch...we go overboard. Not CRAZY just... a little too much.. know what i mean? like we're pushing our luck. But we definitely see the difference in the old stuff we used to eat! This is still only my 2nd week working out (before it was just portion control) and I HAVE to remember that I'm building muscle as well... you're right..signals DO get crossed...


I don't think that being focused heavily on weight loss is all bad as long as you're not doing bad things to yourself such as anorexia. I must admit when I started seeing real results I became quite obsessed with it, and I still am to quite a degree. I spend more time on this site than any other, because it's a place where people give support, I can support others, and there's plenty of information.

I'd better go get some work done (see, I'm actively slacking to be on this site!). Care to voice chat some time? My skype details are in my profile.

I'm a sucker for this sight I tell ya! I'm here ALL the time. I normally frequent Digg, Aint it cool news, etc... Now THIS is my main site... and I thank you guys for all the support that you give, posting on my diary, and being just all around nice to me and my DW... you guys rock! So.... last night was awesome! I had a good time working out. 50 minutes on the gazelle and burned 500 calories! Now I know thats an aprox. calculation but it's good none the less! And I must say...I feel kinda pathetic :p ... the last 3 or 4 posts to my diary have been from ME LOL... Anyways! :p

I got up this morning in a haze... Completely and totally in a fog! But I was still determined. Got dressed and started Yourself Fitness. And let me just tell ya, I got frightened! This mornings workout was focused on Cardio...After the first time I did the weightloss program, I did it for a half an hour and wow that was an insane first try... so I was nervous and lowered the time on the cardio to 15 minutes (I know... I know...) Well..it turned out to be Alright actually. Not anywhere near as bad as I thought. So when it was done...I went to the menu and selected the workout for today again expecting cardio again. Was gonna do another 15 minutes... but it changed. Upper Body Strength training. And it was AWESOME. My muscles ache (mainly because of the narrow pushups it made me do!) but it was so good! I feel myself getting stronger at the same time as loosing weight and I'm really excited about that!I don't want to tone too much though..wanna stay the course of loosing weight before I start to tone! Gotta be careful of that one! So yeah, it was good...especially being that MTM&K got up too and I heard her in the bedroom working out as well on the bike! Then she did some pushups/situps as well... that's my girl! We're gonna be two sexy devils!!! WOOHOO.

For Breakfast I had some Kashi GoLean cereal and 2 egg whites (with garlic & herb Ms. Dash) it was good! I need to get back into doing my calorie counting... and posting it!

Today is going to be a good day..I can just FEEL it!
 
hehe its funny when i get up in the morning to go to the gym, people do the weirdest things when half asleep. I saw one dude fall asleep at the lights in his car, and another dude stopped for a green light.

And dont worry, its your diary for you to keep a record. We just make snap judgements based on tiny bits of information and comment on it :D

What are you training on anyway?
 
The program I use for the xbox called Yourself Fitness. It's a full workout training program equiped with a personal trainer and everything. over 4000 exercise routines and yoga/pilates..meal planning..it's great!

And yeah... I do like it when people reply..even though this diary is for me! It's always good to hear from everyone... I love everyones opinions... I feel like I"ve made some good friends on hear!

You made me think more about this, and I gained a little more insight on why it is working for me. Rather than deny myself all junk food, then fall victim to my temptations and then feel bad for having failed, if I find myself really wanting something that I shouldn't be eating, I tell myself `Wait till friday, have it then'. I stop obsessing over the thing I want, and by friday the craving is either gone, or I can satisfy it.

Also, I only let myself have junk food friday if I've eaten well during the week, so there is more incentive :)

I'm the same, too. I find myself reading it and posting all the time.

It was great chatting on skype! I'll have to go and get a webcam so we can talk face to face (sort of!). Sorry my microphone kept dying, I'll have to work out what happened there. I think the volume kept dopping out.
 
Yeah man..it was great fun chatting on skype! We ended up getting Subway (the healthy low fat subs LOL) with some sunchips and the guilty pleasure of the night is gonna be an oatmeal raisin cookie each! When my stomach calms for the night (in about an hour) I'm hoping on the gazelle and will go for gold! Also, while I work out...gonna call my mom and tell her we're gonna have another one! That should be interesting! We're just full of suprises!

All in all, I'll end up with just a little more than 1800 calories for the day..give or take a bit! Not bad for junk food friday! Thanks for the tip/idea man...I like it alot!

Going for 500 calories tonight... I'll report in when I'm done!

So...I just got done doing the gazelle... another 500 calories! WOOHOO...I feel good... need to go to bed though...I'm dead tired! Hanging Christmas lights outside tomorrow! Will post in my diary (and everyone elses) tomorrow!

I never thought I'd be caught dead having that as a cereal! Growing up, I always had the sugar cereals.... and HATED bananas... not any longer though..I'll tell ya that much!

I'll post my morning entry after breakfast! Or maybe after we get the christmas lights up outside! We're excited! Time for some morning pushups/situps! Be back later guys!

Yes you sure are precious;) You have such a cute face...LOL:)Good job and attitude with the gazelle...I do that with the bike...I ride it from 8 - 9 most nights while I watch tv with my yongest...and as far as the money, I can so relate I havent even started shopping yet, going today and my pay cheque was only 400.00...*UGH* Plus my parents will be down this year and there will be all the other family obligations as well *SIGH* Usually we go to my parents to get away from it all for a quite little Xmas...with only 400.00 to buy presents and groceries Im a lil stressed but i will work that stress off...Have a good day...

Im a that point now too...I need to exercise daily nad lots nad when and if I dont I feel guilty...but sometimes my life or kids get inthe way or I am just exhausted, one can only push themselves so far...

as far as the compliments, I call it as I see it hun, I am a straight shooter and you are a cuite:) You are doing a great job and I really admire how commited you are to your wife and family, makes me a lil jealous, LOL...You come across as being a great man...coming from me that is one hell of a compliment...LOL... i know you read my diary from time to time, im not the biggest man lover around, my past speaks for itself...:):):) I hope your wife is feelin better, please send her my wishes...
 
Again...Thanks for the compliments... I know alot of guys our there are idiots and self centered and egotistic and and and and... Not alot of common sense and courtesy to go around for all of us in the pool...but some of us actually were able to scrounge a bit more than the others...and we know how to manage the little we actually got! HA!

But seriously, I grew up in a broken home (it was fractured even when my parents were actually together). Now granted, my mother was the one that drove my father away (trust me..she's nuts), I was determined to be a different kind of man...still hard working and focused on my family...but I wouldn't put over working myself in front of the core family relationship that we share in this house! MTM&K comes from a stronger family background...and I've learned from her as well as made my own observations that have made our family what it is today. And the main area that I was lacking in, was my health. I could go to a chinese buffett and have 3 and 4 plates at a time! I didn't care, I LOVED the taste. There were times where I would continually wish that I could live with certain tastes in my mouth... (General Tso anyone?!? I should change my username to General NO) But one day, I was told that I resembled the Dad from Family Matters and that pushed me over the edge... I've never been this focused on eating right and exercising... not even while in the army! Today is going a tad sluggish. MTM&K is out right now, and the kiddos are down for their nap...I should finish the dishes I started..but I want to exercise, need to put the lights up outside, etc etc! I've been contemplating putting up before and during (eventually after) pictures...but...yeah.. kinda embarressed at my starting weight, and though I've lost 23 lbs, I don't feel like I LOOK any different. I know that my clothes fit completely different...but yeah... don't know if I'm brave enough for that yet...but I'm going to keep changing my avatar with different pics... I love having my mac and just taking quick snapshots. My current avatar is from two days ago...
 
You're such a strong person!! It's great that you and your wife are in this together, I'm sure it makes things a 1000 times easier. Also, cool avatar! You also look like an old friend of mine. Have a good Saturday, Saturday. ;)
 
Soooooooo I spent the majority of the afternoon putting up christmas lights. Alot of stretching, arms over my head...still a pretty good exercise. I think I may just chill tonight...maybe do another 50 minutes on the gazelle... get a good 500 calories burned again. I'll post a picture tonight of what our side of the duplex looks like after it gets dark. Feelin kinda bumbed that I didn't get to do the Yourself Fitness but... oh well... the day just got away from me...
 
So here I am..checking in. It's been a day or so since I posted and wow there seems to be alot of new people (as well as people that were here long before me resurfacing..I have a lot of catchin up to do!) I recalculated my calorie intake formula and found that, in order for me to lose 2 lbs a week, exercising at a minimum.... I have to take in 1600 to 1950 calories a week (thanks sparkpeople ;) ). I did 50 minutes on the gazelle Friday night... but did NOTHING yesterday... Well, not NOTHING. I did about 70-80 pushups while watching a Christmas movie with MTM&K but still...felt like I was cheating on my workout plan. LOL.. But we did get the Christmas lights up outside which was good. I ended up with about 1800 calories but I've only had about 900 today :eek: :eek: Not good..need to up that! Plus I exercised a fair amount today! Did the Maya Program..did Core training today. YOUCH on my abs. I did about 6 or 7 side crunch sets of 12. Then I got the bright idea to go for a run.

Okay. Here's a little sidebar about me and this thing called running. We don't mesh. at. all. Even when I was in the army, during basic training, I never completed a group run. I always fell out of formation. Which is kinda scary being that completing the runs is kinda a requirement for completeing basic training...which I did! They just penciled me through. :eek: Shoulda went into the marines! LOL. Anyway, I have always had a problem with concentrating and breathing properly while I run. So going from Just indoor cardio and weight loss training to deciding to go jog around the block was just tomfoolery I tell you! I think I'll stick to the gazelle in the evenings instead of jogging and i'll walk while at work still. Ugh that was horrendous! LOL.

We're gonna watch another Christmas movie (can you tell we like them?) and have some kettlecorn. I need to catch up on everyones diary. Maybe I'll do that tonight...

I think, however, that when they say that, they mean that you shouldn't just lay on a couch for a day, but be fairly active. Sounds like you were pretty busy!

HAve you seen the Couch to 5K running plan? I've been using it and it has been good, although I have temporarily given it a rest because running makes my right knee hurt. It's happened before and this time I'm taking it easy before it causes me real problems. Fortunately walking makes it feel better, so I am just going to be walking everywhere for a while.

If you're interested in taking it up, I have made some 30 minute long mp3s which have all the instructions in them, as well as appropriate length songs. Makes it much easier.

So what Christmas movie are you watching??? You should go over and play advent calendar :)p) it's a day where you say what your favorite Christmas movie or song or whatever is.

Anyway, you're doing awesome!! Keeeep it up. :)

I've heard of the couch to 5k plan...don't know anything about it though. Problem about running is that my left foot starts hurting Majorly when I run on a normal schedule. Don't know what it is. When I was the army it started. And they took xrays and everything but didn't find anything wrong. Maybe I'll look into that plan though. I'd only get running in on the weekends but... we'll see. I'd be interested to check out those mp3's though.

We just got done watching Chasing Christmas with Tom Arnold. TERRIBLE ending. just terrible! I'll go check out the Advent Calender. Thanks for the support guys... you have no idea how much I enjoy all of your comments
