I went out for coffee with a friend of mine Saturday afternoon. She is fairly new in my life as we have only really been friends for about a year so we are still getting to know each other. She is a very athletic *she runs* healthy looking gal, great sense of humor and we are very good at chatting about nothing for hours upon hours. Anways...I had mentioned to her about this forum and what it has meant to have so many good people to talk to. She said it is so important to have support. She was quiet for a bit, kind of just looking at her coffee and so I asked her if she was ok. She said, you know I struggled with balimia for years and years. I havent thrown up for about 2 years, but I had to get my teeth capped and I really wasnt doing well for a long time. She explained how much she struggled with her body image and making sure she was eating properly (now that she has given up her weight loss tool) I myself am a binger but have never purged..but I completely understand that uncontrollable urge to eat. She said she was going to look at this forum, because she felt it might be a good place for her to meet people who struggle with weight and body image. We both really learned a lot from each other and it was great to talk without someone trying to 'fix' us. Sometimes we may not need answers to what bothers us, just a friend who will listen and care.
