been reading through your journey... glad you are here sharing what you are doing... how you are having good success :) I might have to check out those podcasts too.

AHey y'all, !
It's Friday on this side of the world, and I'm happy to have another one in! :hurray:
Thanks for stopping by rainyforest138, I can tell my experience, been on this journey for almost 15 months now, and I continue to lose...slowly, but surely! I hope it can help others, God knows, I have needed support and help from others on this forum! Some days are better than others!

Yesterday, I had another one of the recognition dinners with my team...nothing really bad to eat, just more thAn I normally eat in a day, and of course, had to do the toasts thing with peach juice (at least this was fresh squeezed/puree'd) quite tasty actually! Then today, I got home a little early, and husband and I went downstairs and had the "free buffet" at the hotel...again, nothing bad, but I normally don't get home in time to partake of that, so this was kind of an exception. Tomorrow, we'll ride our bikes to the park...he says he's found a less hectic way to get there...we'll see!

Not much else to report here...I'll update my weekly weight tomorrow(assuming I remember to weigh before I take off on the bike!)

Good choices to all,
Sarah

Hey Sarah,

Hope you're having a great weekend and finding that less hectic route to get to the park. I hate the traffic around my neck of the woods so can only imagine what it must be like in China trying to find some open space to ride.

Hi Sarah - good work on behaving at the recognition dinner and your hotel-buffet. & good plan to go biking tomorrow & burn it off.

hope you have a nice weekend - do they have any english-speaking TV there ?

Maryann.

You've done such a great job and I love reading you're posts, 15 months and still going strong? that's GREAT!! I just hope I do as well as you have done, I know it hasn't been easy but you've done it and continue to do it!

Great job Sarah!!

Greetings all, especially Feelinggooder, kj67, Maryannc and Jessica23..thanks for stopping by and lifting me up today!! That's one of the great things about this forum...all the positive reinforcement and honest (always constructive even if it's not exactly what I want to hear!) feedback!

Today, I went on a nice bike ride here in the park with hubby.

We went on about a 16 mile ride...2.5 getting to the park (a much better route was found by my dear husband...still alot of cars, sidewalks, pedestrians, horns etc...but not as many as the other way!) Not your average bicycle riding outfit, but a comfortable pair of stretch jean capris! We found part of the park that we had never been on...very nice, kind of in the country, tree lined, newly paved path etc...a good place to train when I start doing the marathon program..and I think I can just go there straight away from work and run on my way home, which will be great! We will go back to the park tomorrow...I'll run a 5k this weekend before my race next weekend...after the race on the 1st of September, I'll make my official decision on the Great Wall Marathon...2013 or 2014...which will it be!?

Feeling good about myself today...I'm wearing my size 14 Levi's and feeling a hint of sexy...it's been years since I've felt sexy (even though my dear husband has told me often I look pretty etc...and I believe him...there is something different for a 51 (almost 52) year old to feel sexy! May be hormones for all I know, but I'm sure the weight and feeling fit has something to do with it!

Good choices to all!

Sarah

Here's to feeling sexy!!:beerchug: To a 51yr old, going on 52, from a 59 year old, going on 60. After years and years of feeling fat & ugly & wanting to hide, to feeling happy in my new body, I say we deserve to feel sexy. I feel much sexier than I have for decades! Mine's nothing to do with hormones- they're a thing of the past for me, but everything to do with feeling that I have quite a nice body. There- I said it. I'm happy with my body. Enjoy that feeling Sarah & get used to it. Be very proud of what you have achieved. Love your new photo btw. Lots of love xoxo Cate

Awe...Thanks Cate! Your comments always make me feel so good!

Just got back from a good run this morning at the park...I did a 5k at what I think will be race pace, then I did another 5k to help prepare me for some longer runs in the future. The weather was just perfect, so my run was great. Came back home to a nice big breakfast and now going to the "dirt market" (a type of flea market) here in Shenyang to just look at stuff (like I need any more of that stuff!). Feeling great about my upcoming run on the 5k...I think I could probably do the 10k, but for starters, I'm going to stick to the 5k. The 10k will come with the trainup to the marathon....for which, later today, I'm going to put a training plan together and see if I've really got the time to do this!

Well, take care ya'll and let's make it a great weekend...good food and exercise choices as a foundation to life! Who's with me?!!

Sarah

51 years old is still quite young and I see more than just a Hint of Sexy! You look great!!!! And I'm glad that you are noticing it and owning up to the fact that you are one Hott Mama! lol

You're so sweet and you have a wonderful body to go along with that great personality!

Keep it up girl you inspire me EVERYDAY!!

AAwethanks Jessica!:icon_bs:... I am a little like Cate...not used to feeling good looking or sexy....it has been a long time since I have been in good shape, and felt confident about myself...trust me at this point in my menopausal life, "hot mama" does adequately describe me..but not because of sex appeal...because of hot flashes!! Thanks so much for the pick me up!
Sarah

Sarah, I'm behind you 110 percent. Next weekend is a four day weekend for me, I'm scared. Weekends throw my schedule off and I have a tradition of being lazy on those days but they have a volksmarch that weekend here in town for two days that weekend and I think I should do both days perhaps the 10K one day and the 5K the next day. But that still leaves me with 2 days to fill that I don't want to over eat or over indulge or sleep. ugh lol. Your marathon sounds exciting. I may walk one someday :)

Hey Cate & Sarah - you are both a total inspiration - a gal can get fit & fine ( even at our ages )....I love the cycling picture in the park Sarah - so green - ( years ago when I lived in a large city - they had a lengthy trail system- I'd be on there for hours at a time...) ...luved it, .. maybe if I'm lighter by next summer - will be able to do the bike again ( too hard on my butt-end at current weight)

- .and so true, that years of being heavy do knock-down self-esteem - I can't imagine how wonderful it will be to have it back....bet it feels amazing....you gals so deserve it after all your hard work , you ladies Rock !

cheers, Maryann

AHeya Sarah :seeya:

I always seem to come onto your diary embarassed that i have neglected you. I'm totally rubbish at the moment. I kinda ignore everything these days, not just on here :(

Ok, i have shed loads of posts to read and comment on so here goes..........

Oooooooo, a marathon!! Wow, that is such a great thing to aim for. Makes me 10 mile great south run seem pathetic lol. Maybe i will look to doing a longer one if i manage that one ok. Got lots of training to do before i'm back up to fitness though. I'm a bit nervous but looking forward to the challenge :)
You did the Paris marathon  wow!!! impressive. Go for it and then go on to do the New York one......How cool would that be! A marathon in three continents!!!!

You look bloody stunning in the wedding photo's!!!! such a pretty SIZE 14 dress too. :hurray: Am i a weirdo cos i noticed the cigarettes straight away lol or is it because thats not the normal thing to see on a plate?!?

You said about your hubby being in a foul mood and how horrid it is. It's the same with me Mark is hardly ever in a foul but when he is it puts me on such a downer. It's weird how we pick up on thier negative vibes so quickly. I suppose it because we are the closest to them and are so in tune with them. We have been together over 22 years!!!

I totally get what you mean about losing from your boobs......Mine are tiny now compared to what they use to be! I'm use to them now but it is so funny when Mark complains about the :smilielol5: I have gone from a 40DD to a 34D!!!! i never ever thought i would be a 34 round my back!!!! They are so floppy that i can only wear ballconette bras because i fall out of the middle when i bent over in normal ones!!!!!!!

Loving the photo of you and your bike and i totally love the 'feeling a hint sexy' :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: That is freaking awesome!!!!!! :)

When is the 5km run sweetie? how exciting :) I love the fact that you are running !!! so cool.

Love and hugs Xxxxx

AGreetings kj67, Kate and MaryannC, and anyone else reading this thing!
I went to the dr this morning to get a physical...nothing wrong, just at what I think is my midpoint on my expatriation in China and wanted to update my baseline, blood work, etc. I will go back next week to get the results of my blood work, get the mamma gram, pap smear.(just can't wait for these 2 last ones)
The hardeset thing about the day was having to get up, go workout and not have breakfast! I'm a real breakfast type of girl!
Well, gotta go, I'll write more later,

Good choices to all!
Sarah

AHey Sarah
Sounds like things are going really well. Can't believe you have been working so hard for 15 months - huge pat on the back for you! How inspirational!

Love the cycling pic...and why on earth shouldn't you feel sexy!! Sounds like an apt reward for all the effort! Look good and feel good! Or, as my favourite koto goes, get your mojo rattlin'!!!

Hi Sarah- good luck with the medical results - I'll bet lots improved with all that weight loss ( blood pressure, cholesterol etc.)

& I hear ya on the mama/pap - ick :ack2: part-of the joy of womanhood....sheesh...hope all goes well,

~ & definately sucks to miss breakfast - the more I read about successful healthy weight - the more often I see that having brekkie is major important - I am a must-have brekkie gal myself too ( have always been that way - my Mom taught me that one many many years ago....good-old Mom's eh. ?)

~ when are you doing that 5K ? ....what a good exercise motivator to have a race to train for....:hurray:.... good work .

cheers, Maryann. :)

( ps- my week going good so far - will post a quick note in my diary)-thx for the support gal.

Maryann

Hi Sarah, Hope you have a great run this week-end! Look forward to hearing all about it! Cheers xo Cate

Hey jjjay, Cate and MaryannC and everyone else!

Well, today's run was good...no, awesome! It wasn't a big, organized race, just a not for profit trying to make some money for an orphanage here, so I don't have an exact time, but I think it was somewhere around 30 minutes for my 5k..so I was pretty happy with that!

This is me finishing up the 5k. I felt pretty good, not out of breath at all, the only thing was (is) my left foot hurts around the arch..I've been trying to run more on the balls of my feet, but I've got flat feet, so I think it may be putting too much strain on them..so that little experiment is about to end!

I got up early and had a good breakfast, and it was well digested before I ran, so felt good there too (didn't have to do that on an empty stomach!), then afterwards, I had a banana for a snack and really didn't want much to eat for lunch, so I just had a can of tuna (figured the protien would be good for my muscles), and now I'll have some dinner...got sufficient calories left in my daily count to have a big one if I want it, but probably will just stay "normal" and hopefully finish under my goal.

I got the replacement fitbit out today and have worn it all day, including the race...so far I've gone over 15000 steps or something like 7.3 miles, including the race so I was able to get out today!

Just wanted to share my day today and thanks to everyone for all your encouragement!

Sarah
