Hey Sarah - good work on the stepper , stairs & calories in-line.

Glad to hear you are on -focus and into a good week ! ...it feels good to dig-in-the-heels-in & get serious.... :hurray:, before you know it - you will be cruising along on that Great Wall !

cheers,

Maryann C.

Thanks Feelinggooder, Brawny and MaryannC!

Feelinggooder...the great wall is anything but flat! I've been on that thing in 2 different places and both times have had me sweating like a W)(*& in church! It is steep, uneven and, yes, can be dangerous...but that's the challenge!

Brawny..you are so right...it's all about calories in vs calories out...simple as that, but not easy!

MaryannC, thanks for your positive encouragement...I don't think there is anything like "Cruisin' on the Great Wall"...I can just make sure I'm trained up for it and go!

Speaking of training...took a rest day today..my foot was hurting, so I know I want to go to the park and run this weekend, so I wanted to give the old foot an "easy" day today..so I didn't even go to the fitness center. Eating is going well this week..lots of veggies for breakfast and staying away from the extra red meats on the buffet and getting in some good fresh fruits...right now there is a type of fruit here I've never seen in the US..it's kind of a cross between an apple and a pear...very juicy and crisp...in season right now and really good! I count the calories like a big bartlet pear, but I really don't know! Motivation is good...on the last loop of my French belts...a big step for me! I bought these belts back in the early spring, and they fit good on the 2nd and 3rd loop..now, I'm between the 5th and 6th depending on where it actually sits on my waist. Pretty happy about that!

Looking forward to getting my Friday in at work, then having the weekend for fun...no big plans, but some time for me! Let's all have a weekend full of good choices!!

Sarah

Hi Sarah - sorry to hear your foot is sore , wise to take a rest-day , ,.... the apple-pear sounds good , I think I've had them here too...but don't remember the name...they are yummy .

~ I was just teasing you about "cruising" on the Wall - it does look like some parts are major steep - but sounds like you have a good plan for the training - you will be prepared for the challenge.....

cheers, hope U have a nice weekend ( sounds like your week at work was pretty hectic)

(hubby & I are off for one last camping weekend of the season - so I am looking forward to some R&R too ).

AWow, thanks MaryannC! You are a wealth of knowledge, and sure enough chinese pear was in myfitnesspal.com too..so that saved me 50 calories for the day! Your picture of the great wall is spot on!

Got through my Friday, and didn't exercise, so i was careful on my calories, and did ok. Hoping for some good news tomorrow on the scale and a good run on Sunday!

Good choices to all for a great weekend!

Sarah

Smart to rest a day once in a while. I took a rest day yesterday and my workout this morning was so great! I felt the progress I have made in 2 weeks!

Hey maybe its time for new shoes or new insoles if your feet are hurting. My wife is a runner and she has had some foot trouble and she got some 20 dollar gell insoles and they helped her.

AThanks Brawny and Maryann!
Enjoying a Saturday relaxing here at home today. Started the day off right with a step on the scale and saw a .9 pound drop. Doesn't souns like much, but to me it was a great result, telling me my 1650 cal limit with my exercise is just right for allowing me to eat a good level, and still lose weight...at the perfect rate of about 1 pound /week! On that happy note, I went down to exercise and went to my old friend the elliptical for 65 min, then knocked out 100 setups on the incline board (not a hug incline, bit not flat either), then did 3x10 chest presses at 28 kg, then finished off with stairs from the 3rd floor up to 21st , then back down to 4th and back up to the 12th...felt great about that. Brawny was right...needed a day off and got a great workout after my day off.
I went back to the tailor today and took some of my last years winter trousers and jackets to get them taken up..the tailor knows me pretty well now, and even she comments on how much I have lost...she would know...she's been measuring me at my biggest, and now at my smallest(to date)! Gotta admit it feels good to hear her say it!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Sarah

AHad a good exercise this morning...not sur exactly how far since my planned rout was under comstruction( happens frequently here in China). My guess it as something about like last week...11k or so, based on time. My foot is sore and in fact, I put an ice pack on it when I got back...I may need to lay off for a little while...I know I should, but I really don't want to! Arghh!!
Let's go and make it a great day...one good choice after another, and we'll get to our goals!

Sarah

Careful with those injuries, little ones have a nasy habit of becoming bigger issues if not dealt with early on... Sounds like it might be time to start hitting the elliptical hard for a few weeks and let that foot rest up. Could be a good time to give HIIT on the elliptical a try. I had to do the same a couple years back when I was training for a 10 miler and it made a huge difference when I got back to running.

Cool story about going to the tailor. Pretty soon they will take up your pants so much that the 2 pockets on the back will be touching...ha ha

Hi Sarah -

Congrats on 0.9lb down ! that took good hard work- U earned it. - :hurray:...

and 0.9lb/ approx. 1lb/week - nothing to turn your nose up at - that add up to 50lbs over a year - .....I totally agree that's it's good you've found your calorie range for your current weight & exercise level- even as close to goal as you are - you are still able to squeeze-off more weight ...great work.

...good work on the Saturday workout- elip/sit-ups/presses & stairs - lots of calorie burn there.... \\

& Great work on 11k on the Sunday run .....U rock ! ...( who say's middle-age gals can't run ! )....

...sorry to hear about your sore foot - you are always telling us to be cautious- take it easy- back-off when injury - ....so.....maybe....Sarah could use a bit of "training break?"...... I know - U want to train - your mind is Soooo ready...but your mind needs to give your body a chance to catch--up....?..... anyway...hope that foot feels better real soon .....

....I laugh at Brawny's take on the Tailor- back-pockets meeting it the middle - too funny - .... it is cool when someone "notices" the success showing from all your hard -work...

keep going on those excellent choices Sarah ,

good work,

Cheers Maryann .

AHey feelinggooder, brawny and maryannC,
Thanks everyone for stopping by and your comments and advice! You are all right...I had to take a day off exercise yesterday, and today, I just did a few min on rowing machine and elliptical and then some weights. No stairs today or yesterday, trying to get my feet back to normal...hopefully after a good week off, it will be back to normal. My food feels better today already, so that is encouraging!
Feeling gooder, you are right...the HIIT probably a great alternative, and good idea for one day this week! Thanks as always!

Today and yesterday were good eating days, no big deals, no big victories...just normal calorie counting 101.
Let's make this a great week!

Sarah

Great Job Sarah!!

Very smart to rest your foot, it's never good to push it to a real injury!!

You are such a power house with your workout!! So impressive.

Thank you so much for sharing!!

I just did a few min on rowing machine and elliptical and then some weights.

Isnt it funny? You are calling that "taking a day off from exercise" You have come a long way my friend.

I second that motion too Cate & Brawny ! .... U are set on your course Sarah .... just watch U go ! :iagree: - U R getting the job done - eat/exercise/rinse / repeat..... dedication .

Brawny & Cate...while I'd love to agree with you, BUT>>>> I did take the day off completely on Monday! Yes, Cate, I am on a mission!

Yesterday I did the elliptical and rowing machine, then today, I did the stepper for 45 min and Rower for 5 min...it didn't hurt my foot, but I still didn't do the stairs back up the the apartment. Still laying off that part!

Cool and wet here in North east China..Fall is here, and just in time for the "mid autumn festival" which means we get the week off work! Happy about that..we're going to Korea again, and this time, we're going to the South around a beach...we'll see how that works out this time! Going to pack lite, but I will be taking my walking and exercise clothes to take advantage of some "liesurely" workouts!

Great week to everyone!

Sarah

Rest days are super important. Between all the lifting, rowing, push ups (you still doing those by the way?) and other physical activity that's ripping muscle and forcing us to exert ourselves in strange new ways, rest days let our bodies rebuild and recover.

Consider it one day to let the concrete dry on the foundation of awesomeness you've been working on for so long.
