Ok, I think I've come to the realization that when I wake up I need to immiedately put on my running clothes and get out the door. It's probably the only way I'll actually go because if I wait, then I tend to come up with reasons not to go.

Might have to start posting on here right when I wake up and say that I'm going for a run. I'd feel bad if I had to come back and say I didn't follow through on it. lol

Hope your day is going well!

Like Munch I exercise better if I do it first thing...but I gotta have a couple of gallons...I mean cups of coffee first.

Stay the course my friend...The year of the dragon is gonna be your year! Did I tell ya that I looked it up and I was born in the year of the Dragon. So maybe it will be my year too.

Thanks success, Brawny77, size32someday and Munch!

I just made/make up my mind to stick to the plan...and that's it!.. No magic, just plain old determination!

I am like you all..I need to do my exercises in the morning..if I don't, it's too easy not to do it at all! When I come in from work, I'm exhausted and the last thing I want to do it "work" again at exercising...and in the morning, my brain is clear and I actually do well at thinking of solutions to work problems, learning Chinese and listening to music! It's all good!

Today, got up at 5, and hit the elliptical and knocked out 867 cal, then did a few free weights (not my forte and I don't really understand how the machines work, so I pick a couple of "easy" machines and try to give my upper body a little work out...not very much mind you!).

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, grilled chicken with peppers, black fungus and onions, sauteed egg plant and the walnut, cranberry and cheese mix with water and hot tea.

Lunch: Sweet n sour pork, chinese veggies and eggfu yong without gravy and fried rice with a banana (husband is sure i need the potassium...he's probably right) and 1 mandarin orange.

Dinner: Hot green tea

One more work day, then a weekend to relax..needing it!

5am starts make for long days. Towards the end of the week my 5:30 alarm starts feeling really early so way to go with the dedication.

Really neat to see the differences in the meals such as when the majority of eating is done and the variety of things you eat. Green tea for dinner is also a very neat idea and reminds me that I should start drinking green tea again. Good luck with the weekend measurements, always nice to get some positive feedback from the body.

AHeya sweetie

Sorry i have neglected you :( I have been really busy and a bit grumpy, so i'm no use to anyone right now. I just wanted to say You are just totally awesome, so so motivated!!! Hopefully i can get back there myself very soon, the last few days have been shocking.

Sending you lots of love and hugs Xxx

Thanks feelinggooder and Kate,

I really can't say it's all motivation...I'm just in a good routine to keep going towards the goal..after 8 months, it's routine now...I've actually thought about how I'm going to maintain...(that's still 40+ pounds away mind you!) and I'm not sure. I think I will keep up the elliptical and exercise at 5:00am and stay with the big breakfast and medium lunch, then add in a light dinner..but still no processed sugars or sodas...I intend to keep them out for the rest of my life...there I've written it...the rest of my life...I'll have to really think about that one!

Today, Friday (thank God!!), I got up at the 5:00 hour and did the eliptical for 840 cal (a little less than my normal these days...always less when I do the Chinese lessons). Then a big breakfast: 2 fried eggs, 3 slices bacon, some sauteed pork, leafy green vegetable and sauteed egg plant topped off by the walnuts, dried cranberries and cheese mix.

Lunch: smoked turkey, chinese veggies, fried rice, 1 banana and 2 mandarin oranges

Dinner: Hot green tea.

Oh, by the way, I got one of the clothing articles in the mail today (I ordered this when I stopped by Seoul, Korea on our way back from Hawaii)...a new leather blazer...navy blue...and it fits like a glove..so much smaller than any of the jackets I have in the closet (yes, I did do a clean out last weekend, but that was only pants...I plan to have the jackets redone, but I just havn't gotten around to that yet!) The jacket is so nice...can't beat that "new leather smell"...and the custom fit (even has my name embroidered inside!...is that oppulent or what?!)

A small reward for me efforts...and it did make me smile! I'll get a picture when I get some of the other clothes and put an ensemble together!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sarah

That's so awesome Sarah! Even though I've lost 16lbs, I haven't gotten to the point where I need new clothes yet. It's odd, my jeans seem to fit the same, but I can see a little difference in some shirts that used to be quite tight on me. Now they're less so, but still not baggy. Hopefully that will come with the next 16 lbs!

Enjoy your weekend! :)

That jacket sounds really snappy Sarah. Can't wait to see some new photos! I'm going to have to get myself back into a regular pattern of exercise & eating. I admire your consistency & commitment .You have spurred me on to snap out of this temporary plateau & to get on with it. Thank you! Sorry I have been so grumpy. I have been totally sick of & annoyed with myself! xo Cate

Thanks Munch & Cate,

Today I did the "full blown banana" at the fitness center...60 min on elliptical for 932 cal (burn baby burn!), then 30 minutes on teh treadmill (last 5 were actually a run...that's good news for me...I'm getting to a size where I actually can run again!) then 50 incline board crunchs (felt good to do these...but I think these are not so good for my measurements...see below! :-/, and then 5 fminutes to stretch out my back on the rowing machine and finished up by 2 sets of upper body/arm weights. Felt great when I got back to he apartment and went down to eat.

Breakfast: 5 slices bacon,2 fried eggs, sauteed cabbage, leafy green veggie, the walnut, cranberry and cheese mix and 2 mandarin oranges and 2 fresh mangos!

Juat awhile ago, I did the measurements;..here...not so good...not sure what is going on...my pants are looser (my new knickers from a couple of monhts ago are now almost baggy!), so I must not be doing a good job of measurements...actually, I'll blame my husband there, as he is the one holding the tape...couldn't be that big breakfast I ate!!) The total measurements say I've gained some cm's..not what I feel or see...but the numbers don't lie...I think last time it was actually a little tight...so this month is probably accurate..we'll see next month!

It's not going to change the way I'm exercisgin (well...maybe I won;t be so keen on the incline board...and maybe try to find something else I can do after the elliptical for a few minutes of strength training...any ideas? (don't tell me pushups...you know I hate 'em!)

Here's the graph...I think someone declared this "plateau month"...hummm...if the shoe fits...wear it...sucks!

I think all that exercise topped off by a not so stellar measurements session awakened the hunger within today...after that big breakfast, I had not 1 but 2 bowls of chili with cheese on top ofr lunch, ...and then for dinner, I had some apple and celery salad and a spinich and steak salad (sounds strange, but really good!). I've been drinking water like a fiend today...I think the chili had way too much salt for my own good! I should sleep like a baby tonight...sure hope so...tomorrow's another day and I'll hit the fitness center again...and the water jug again tonight before I go to bed. Must be hormones for me...I think that's going around from what I read on here (but I'm not grumpy!...and wore my new leather jacket to dinner tonight! Felt so good!

Happy day to everyone!

Sarah

No hormones here (any more) & no longer grumpy! Good to hear that the new jacket has had an outing. Photos or it didn't happen! ;) xo Cate

that is one hell of a routine getting up at that time!!( but pleased to hear you had a day off!) lol amazing. I could never do that, im really not a morning person. I still think the amount you burn is amazing too!! it must be handy having a gym right there. dont be put off by the plateau although i imagine that must be really annoying. your graph looks great though and plateaus are normal. I think I read when it happens to shake things up a bit, i.e that your body gets used to a certain exercise, so maybe switching to a different machine, such as walking on a treadmill instead and Iv also read that upping your calories for a few days too helps. I Think that when we stick to the same type of cardio exercise and same foods that our body becomes used to it and adapts hence the plateau.

i hate it when i eat too much salty things! sometimes i even crave salt but I think that is simply because i am actually thirsty.

anyway hope you have a good day!

AHeya sweetie :)

WOW!!! You look amazing in your photo :) I love your new jacket, very swish :)

Glad you didn't suffer from the grumps that i got when all hormonal (i'm not it is hormones with me as period still hasn't arrived)

WOW!! Thank you Sarah- very snappy!! You look great. I love that look. Did you ever see the original Avengers? You have the Emma Peel look, with the boots and all. Very snazzy!! Love your smile, xoxo Cate

Hey Kate and Cate,

Good to see the grumpy's are gone! You girls are great!! Thanks for your compliments...I'm really not one to take compliments well..learning, but it doesn't come natural...so really thank you!

I went to the fabric market today (which also has the tailor) and took my big baggy jackets and a couple of suits...and the lady had the alterations and new slacks from last week done already...so I'll have some new/old outfits this week! She told me that I had gotten thinner...always good to hear from someone who actually does measurements for a living! Today, I wore my blouse I bought in France that was the equivalent of a size 16 in the US..that is made to be worn outside...but was a little snug around the hips a few months ago..is now fitting just fine outside my jeans...wow...who'd a thunk it?!

Last night I slept really well (hot flashes and all). I think it was because I ate alot yesterday. Perhaps the day before I didn't eat enough!

Tink, thanks for your reminder on exercise! Today, I did a little experiment on my exercise with a goal to switch things up a little (I have time on the weekend to experiment!) ...I did the elliptical for 60 minutes (850 cal), then I got on the treadmill and ran for 15 minutes (level, no incline) and saw that I could burn about 200 cal in 15 minutes going 8.3 km/hr (and surprise, surprise, I wasn't winded at all and all the moving parts seemed to be OK with a run!!) ...so tomorrow I think I will do 45 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes on the treadmill and I'll play with the incline etc to up the calorie burn as I adjust to this workout. Thanks Cate for the inspiration to get back in to running. Believe it or not, in 1999, I actually ran the Paris marathon in 4h31...I trained for it "by the book" for about 6 months. I was about 10 pounds lighter than I am now when I did that and really didn't lose weight training as I was really carbo loading to get through the long runs. It brings back good memories for the marathon training...we were living in France at the time and I ran by the canals in the Burgundy region..ahh..la belle France! Paris remains a very special city for me...it's beautiful to begin with, but when you've run 26.2 miles around it, it is even more spectacular! Can't top the feeling to finish a long run, coming under the Arch de Triomphe! I actually thought about doing the Beijing marathon..but I just don't have the time to do the training for it now...maybe after the plant is up and running...but I doubt it.

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, 3 slices bacon, sauteed eggplant, sauteed green beans, sauteed kale.

Lunch: 1 apple, 1 banana, some salted mixed nuts, a little polish sausage (this is the real stuff delivered from a friend of mine from Poland!) and some swiss cheese and 2 bottles of water

Dinner: 1 large tossed salad (lettuce and tomatoes with some feta cheese) 1 medium steak.

Today is Rod's birthday and they (the hotel staff) brought him a nice birthday cake..I had to tell him I could not partake today..thankfully he understands!

Have a great day ya'll!

Sarah

Im glad the talior told you that you were getting thinner. its these little un announced comments that really help keep you going. You are so lucky to have lost enough that people notice. You did great on the elliptical. imho the elliptical is the best machine for burning calories. If i can find one under 500 I may pick one up they really do work great for the people who have them. that must have felt so awesome to feel how loose the blouse was. My pants have grown with me. they are so stretched out right now im scared to even guess what size i really am. btw happy birthday rod. im glad they brought him a cake. everyone deserves a cake on their birthday. why my writing is horrible today. jumping all over the place. oh well enjoy your weekend!

Hope you had a great birthday weekend

A marathon in Paris, nice one for the bucket list and that's a great race time as well. Good to hear the treadmill is treating you well on the experiment. Mixing up the routine will probably help keep your body guessing as to what you're going to ask of it next.
