I've enjoyed reading your diary Scbibhouse. You are really doing awesome. Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your trip and have safe travels.

Congrats on the smaller size. That's so exciting! Especially since it's a size you haven't worn in a while.

Hope you've been able to walk outside and keep moving amidst your travels.

So, finally got back home last night...my internal clock is messed up big time! 2 days and nights in an airplane is not normal, natural or good for weightloss! 2 weeks of business travel is not good for weightloss either! I missed my 1 december weigh-in, so I did it this morning, when I got up at 3:29am! So, I weighed 95 kg...only 2 kg loss since 1 November. I'm sure I had lost more, but gained it back during this past 2 weeks on the road. I just resolve to get back in my routine and start that eliptical in a couple of hours when the fitness center opens and then back to my normal menu here in China. I'm not mad at myself..just made me realize how tough the "maintenance" part is going to be when I finally get to my goal weight of 150. I keep reminding myself I'm on a journey, not a vacation!

So, here we go...who's with me?

Hey Extra,

Thanks for your words of encouragement! I got the new blouses out of my suitcase and going to get them laundered today. I'm still really jetlagged and as you can see in my newest post, my weightloss slowed down considerably during this 2 week deal. I did exercise everyday (walked) but my food intake in Rio was too much...but God, it tasted so good...I ate more beef there in 1 week than I ate in the past year here in China! Back to my routine and I'll catch up my rate of loss in the coming months! Take care and thanks for your post!

Hey Sassykat,

Thanks for your words of encouragement! I can't say i really enjoyed my trip, but I did get alot of good work done..absolutely no time for sightseeing in Brazil..bummer!

Back to the eliptical today...back to my routine and back to losing weight! This diary and reading your encouraging posts really helps keep me motivated! I missed that while I was traveling too! Thanks again!

Sarah

So, just got back from breakfast (2 eggs, green leafy vegetables, muslix with canned sliced peach on top, sauteed beef and mushrooms). This morning, got up early (still jetlagged!) and did my 60 minutes on the eliptical (876 cal) and then 20 min on the rowing machine (173 cal). Felt so good to be back in my routine! I'm going in late to work today so I wasn't rushed and felt really good..now at 2:00pm when I'm in a meeting, I'm sure I won't be so "feel good"!).

Amazing how a 2 week break from routine has such an effect...felt dangerously good to have a break...and feels so great to be back!

I'm aiming at less than 200 pounds by 1 January! Wish me luck!

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for your post and your encouragement. I've been reading your diary and you're an inspiration!! Well done on the weight loss and on keeping up with exercising, that's amazing!

Exercising is still a struggle for me. I aim to exercise at least 4 days a week, at least 45 minutes to 60 minutes (I go for the low end when I'm really tired). I've gone from barely being able to run 5 mns to running 20 to 30 mns (on a great day!) and power walking the rest. This is a big deal for me because I've NEVER exercised in my life! (I'm 38). It's still a challenge, with work and a toddler in tow, but I'm determined to meet these goals, and when I'm stronger, I aim to push harder, slowly but surely!

Stay in touch and good luck to both of us! :)

PS: i know what you mean about portion control, I'm working on that too!

It's cold out today (-19C)..and that's cold (-2F)...and tomorrow they are forecasting -20C (-4F)...got that winter coat and hat out now! I'm also really grateful we have a fitness center inside here in the hotel...I'd be hard pressed to run outside in this weather!

This week has been tough...still very tired from all the travel, but been sticking to the exercise and actually cranked it up a bit this week. I went from resistance 12 to resistance 13 on the eliptical and it says I'm burning a few more calories for the same amount of time, so I'll take that! I really missed the eliptical when traveling...it's maximum calorie burn for minimum time!

Exercise today: 1 hr on eliptical = 886 cal + 3 min rowing machine (I do this just to stretch my back and legs after being on the eliptical) + 1 repetition weights (I'm not a big weight lifter...and I don't really understand how to work the machines...so I just do the ones I know how to do, which is mostly lifting straight up or sideways...

breakfast = 2 eggs + sauteed eggplant + boiled cabbage + whatever these green leafy veggies are + muslix (with extra walnuts!), a glass of water and hot green tea

lunch: rice + beans + smoked ham and 2 bottles of water

Dinner: None (got home too late...and tired!), but am enjoying a cup of hot green tea.

Hey Issakova,

Hope you are doing well, and keeping up your journey! I really like this forum...I can share things with people who are on the same journey I am...and not feel like I have to omit somthing that I would be embarassed about in other company (I always hate talking about weight..but here, I just go ahead and say it!) Something liberating about that!

Keep up your exercising...it's so worth it! I know it can be hard...and believe it me gets harder as you get older (I'm 51), but I'm livin' proof that you can do it!

So glad it's Friday..I'm still not adjusted to the time change and was up at 3:00am today...that will tell the tale tonight when I have to go to a company dinner...late and eating...not my regime, but I'll have to make an exception tonight..again for the holidays. I'll just crank up the exercise this weekend... and do it at a liesurely pace because I won't have to go to work...yeah!

Just got back from breakfast and exercise.

1 hr eliptical: 887 cal

breakfast: (I was really hungry today!): 2 eggs, muslix, 2 types of leafy green veggies + sauteed eggplant + sauteed pork & cabbage.

It's really cold out today..somewhere around -20C (that's about -4F)...brrr!! Glad I'm not out on the streets much!

Thank God it's Saturday! Ready for some relaxing!

This morning, went down to exercise: 1 hr eliptical 856 cal + 20 min treadmill 212 cal

Then a nice breakfast = 2 eggs, sweet & sour chicken, kale muslix, water

Lunch: fried rice, sweet & sour pork + some salted peanuts

Dinner: 2 slices watermelon, 1 can soda water

I went shopping today, 1st to the fabric market (bought some silk to have 3 blouses tailor made for me...no idea what size, but if it's like other Chinese clothes...it will be tight when it's done..fit wonderfully as I stand up...and tight when I sit down) Hope they work out!

Then this afternoon when I got back, finally crashed and slept in the recliner..and still, as I type this, I'm tired...jet lag gets tougher as you get older!

Over 1000 calories burned in the gym!!! You're a machine!!! :) well done you, I'm in awe! (I tried the elliptical machine the other day, 10 minutes and I almost died! :))

Thanks Issakova,

I actually enjoy the workouts most days...I'm getting ready to go to the fitness center as I type this. It's 4:53 and I'm up earlier than normal..still can't get this jetlag behind me!

Yesterday, I had a good workout 1 hr on eliptical 750 cal (different machine...what's up with that?) and 30 min on treadmill (230) so another good calorie burner, then breakfast: 2 eggs, 3 slices bacon, sauteed chicken, leafy green veggies and muslix with pears & extra walnuts

Lunch (big pigout time) : greek salad, 2 tournadoes of beef, green beans, small scoop of potatoes...when my husband cooks, it's hard for me to say no...so while I didn't eat sweets, I sure did pour on the portions...

Dinner: None...I was still stuffed from lunch

Today, I'll do my normal eliptical workout 1 hr, then go to breakfast...2 eggs etc

I'm feeling somewhat like I'm in a rut...I havn't weighed in the last week, and my pants are still feeling the same...like I'm not losing. Of course, looking above a the amount I'm eating, I guess that's no surprise..exercise alone cannot undo all of that. I've been at this for a little over 6 months, so I might be plateauing.. So, I go at it again this week and try to get my groove back.

Still cold here, but not as bad as the weekend. Jet lag is still kicking my butt...up at 3:30am today. One of these days I'll actually be able to sleep until 5:00am and get back to normal!

Today, 65 min on eliptical for 750 cal (had to use the other machine again today...and for some reason it measures lower cal burn than the others)

Breakfast, 2 eggs, 4 slices bacon, stirfried cabbage, muslix, water, 1 cup green tea

Lunch: rice, sweet & sour pork, chinese veggies + 2 baby mandarin oranges...they are the best ever this time of year in China! 2 bottles of water

Dinner; none

Got out some of my winter sweaters...they just hung on me...and I bought them new last year...brand new LL bean cable knit sweaters...size 2XL...now going to some needy Chinese person somewhere...their gain, my loss (in more ways than 1!) I don't like to lose the sweater and the wasted money, but cant help this one...I guess it's not wasted if I give it away!

Got up early (thank you jet lag)...and gave into the desire to weigh myself ... I normally don't do this mid month, but, after the 2 week business trip, I was feeling fat and so last week, I hit the exercise hard and wanted to see if there was any results...and to my pleasure I had lost 1 kg since I last weighed! I went to the gym with a renewed sense of determination..and hit the eliptical for 1 hour and cranked out 906 cal!

Breakfast was 4 slices of bacon, stir-fried vegetables, cabbage and beancurd, 2 eggs and muslix. A big breakfast, but nothing there that's going to break the fat bank.

Put on some slacks that were a little snug when I first bought them, and now they are loose...always a good feeling!

So, for me, it's already been a great day...on a Tuesday!

Thanks Issakova! Always nice to get words of encouragement!

Today I got up early again and did my 60 minutes on the eliptical for 860 cal, then breakfast (2 eggs, 4 slices bacon, sauteed cabbage, muslix and 1 tangelo)

Lunch: fried rice, veggies, meatballs, 3 bottles of water during the day (it's really dry here, so it seems to suck the water out of my body and my skin is so dry!)

Dinner: none

No big events today...planning a little get together for Christmas here in China, and a little long weekend get away for New Years...all while keeping my eating and weightloss goals in the forefront!

Hey scbibhouse,

Thanks for stopping by my diary! It's cool to know I'm actually motivating others. :) Why kind of job do you do? Do you always live in China or are you just staying there temporarily?

Hope your trips to France and Brazil go well!

Got up, went to the eliptical for 1 hour, 840 cal, then had breakfast...4 slices bacon, 2 eggs, sauteed baby cabbage and muslix and 1 small mandarin orange.

Really cold out (-24C) tonight...glad I'm here in the apartment warm.

Husband not feeling well today...hope he gets better soon.

Same deal...seems like I'm easily in a routine. Finally about over the jetlag, so I'm sleeping until 4:00am now! At least today is Friday and I get another weekend to relax!

This morning, did the eliptical again for 60 min and just seemed really tired...forced myself to stay and did 806 cal. Then had my normal breakfast 2 eggs, 4 slices bacon, sauteed egg plant, braised chicken pieces, stirfried cabbage and muslix.

Lunch, fried rice, smoked ham, chinese veggies

Dinner: Company dinner, steak, fried rice, turkey, veggies, a small salad, watermellon for desert. Didn't go crazy but still ate more meat than I probably should have ...but, it was so good!

Several people I hadn't seen in a while at the party commented on how I looked and they noticed I had lost the weight...always feels good (although I always have some sort of guilt when I know how big I must have looked when they tell me I look great now...now why does my mind do that to me?!)

Looking forward to a hot bath, long night sleep on this cold winter night in northeast China.
