Looking gorgeous, lovely lady. Are you prepared for a butt-kicking for Weekend Warrior on fitbit? I'm going hiiiiiking ;)

Hi Sam! I haven't been able to get caught up with your diary but I saw some talk about running and had to pop in and say hello. Good luck beating your sister! Competition is a great motivator.

Sunflower - I thought you were going to the spa (or was that Cate)? NO FAIR! I've got a kids birthday party to organize lol!

Hey Oaks! Nice to meet you - so glad you popped in. Yep, I'm a runner...or at least, a huffer and puffer. I shouldn't say that - I can run 4 miles now so I'm getting there...and I'm definitely toning up! Competition is pretty much my favorite (and best) motivator! It works every time.

Speaking of competition...

I found a pre-baby picture where I still felt fat - what the heck was wrong with my head back then? Anyways, that's my size 10 pic and what I'm planning to get back to only with a much more positive mindset. I may not look exactly the same (funny how children do that to you) but I'll get there.

Thanks LaMaria :) I love that picture now (although I had a lot of liquid courage to get me ready that night lol) but then, I still was so insecure.

Well, it's raining, icy, and a mess...but above 0C so the boys and I went for a walk. They were tucked away in their stroller (with a fuzzy blanket keeping them extra warm) while I trudged 2+ miles....and now, both kids are napping. Okay little one is napping while big one is yelling "NO SLEEP" but he's falling asleep on the floor so yes sleep, kid.

Going to the gym tonight and hoping to hit 20,000 steps today to earn that Fitbit badge. I got 16000 yesterday so with the 2 mile walk plus normal walking today (which isn't much unfortunately).

We have oreos in the cupboard and I was so close to eating a couple yesterday - would it have killed my diet? Not a chance...but with the dietbet, I said nope! 4% in 4 weeks means there's really NO room for unhealthy foods right now and let's get real - I can wait a month for an oreo!

I weighed in at 227.4 and am currently at 224.2lbs. I have 5.9lbs to go until I reach my 4% in 4 weeks goal (26 days left).

Nooo Sam - that's another Hannah! I'm a Hana :D Looking beautiful in that photo - you're killing it with the steps this week, it's awesome to have some friendly competition going onnnn. I'll invite you to the workweek hustle for next week xx

Those 'discs' are delicious but NOT worth the 35$ bet this month. Isn't money a great motivator?

LOL @HANA! My bad - I have been running so much that I swear, my reading comprehension has gone a tad mushy. Thanks - I'm definitely competitive and you guys were so right, Fitbits are awesome! I don't really walk much throughout the day but try to get my 16,000 steps in while jogging at the gym. The moment it buzzes and tells me I made it, I'm smiling no matter how much everything hurts! I went from goal of 8,000 (which was easy enough) to 16,000 with a goal of 20,000.

I am commandeering my sister's treadmill this weekend for a night to get a workout in. She said no at first because she wasn't 'helping' me win the bet (jk, of course)!

Anyways, the minions are awake so back to the grind of mommy-dom...and coffee.

LATER!

You should see my oldest son's b-day cake then, @Rebel lee! It's a cookies and cream cake (all homemade) with a oreo buttercream center. It's a 3-layer construction site complete with mixer, backhoe and tractor - what two year old wouldn't be thrilled? He's already yelling "CAR CAR CAR" at the pieces.

Thankfully, I've only taste-tested a couple of teaspoons because I don't want to think how many calories a slice would have!!! Dietbet is keeping me pretty accountable though!

So December 6th, I was sitting at 227.2lbs. Today, I'm sitting at 224.2 - 3lbs in a month...over Christmas!!!

Normally 3lbs in a month would be disappointing but over the holidays? BOO YEAH! I LOST WEIGHT OVER CHRISTMAS!!! (or at least, kept it off).

Started my period today which sorry it's tmi but I always expect to drop a couple of lbs the following week. Also, I think I've been in so much pain from weights and running, that I haven't noticed the usual accompanying back pain that comes with that time of the month! Maybe that's a good thing!?

Being in pain doesn´t sound like a good thing to me, but if it´s just a muscle ache from working out I guess it´s better than period pains!

I am never, but NEVER going to be in the same league as you & Hana with steps. I'm OK with that though. This bet with your sister is sure working. You are killing this Sam!
You look great in that photo btw.

Thanks Cate! LaMa, it's not 'pain' more like achy...like I know I had a good workout and I'm sore but not hurting (okay, a little hurting but still within a decent threshold).

Cate, you are SO right - the bet is crazy. Found out she's at 5 miles (I'm at 11.5) - I'm going to take a rest day from the treadmill jogging - I'm pretty achy today after the 20,000 steps but I still want to go to the gym. Friday and Saturday are generally free of the New Year members which is nice this time of year.

The New Year Members (as I've started calling them in my head) aren't the ones that will be there this summer but are the ones who will be done mid-Feb/early March because this was just a resolution and they don't actually have a plan. Good try guys but come on - if you hate the gym and can only manage 2 months/12, find something better that works for you! Don't make resolutions you don't really want to do. Everyone can find something active they like doing.

I think even the employees there get a little cross - the newbies are on their phones, pausing their workout and holding other people up because...reasons? I don't know. My guess is they don't really want to be there. Funny, can't say I want chatty Cathy on her cell-phone there either. Step away from the machine, lady!

I'm trying to remain positive because some of these people might stick around so I do my own thing and don't scowl/be rude or anything...just sometimes need to vent. Hopefully, the ones that are doing this for life not just because the year clicked by have a great time working out once the 'thrill of something new' fades.

So good luck to all our gym newbies - but please don't waste my time.

The resolutioners are the people who fund the gym - they usually pay for several months to a year but don´t show up very long. Without them, gym memberships would be a lot more expansive. That´s what I tell myself, anyway. And chatty Cathy is probably on her phone because she´s not used to being in the gym and is nervous to just sit there in between sets.

I know, LaMaria - just needed to vent. Our gym is a year-membership either which way so they're definitely helping fund it which is thumbs up. But chatty Cathy is literally talking on her phone about whatever, on a bench, holding up other people - no excuses for her. She was tapped on the shoulder and asked to move.

Thankfully, most of the people are awesome about noticing the "nervous newbie" and will lend a helping hand. I've seen people get help with form, using a machine, giving the lowdown on what machine does what and what muscles it uses - really cool advice. I'm the "I have a system and it works" sort so I don't really know what everything does yet lol so I'm absorbing this stuff like a sponge. It's a great group but there are a few of the 'grunting gus's' (those guys that have to lift way to heavy weights and scream out grunts to show off - there's actually a rule at our gym about it so they're stopped lol, chatty Cathy's and Tanning Tammy's (they bought the membership but find the free tanning and massage chairs a much better investment...I have to agree some days lol!).
