Sam's from Chunk to Hunk Journal :)

I guess the sushi binge wasn't that bad... I did have a tempura roll though (the kind that is fried).... I had another smaller roll too, that wasn't fried.

Well, today my friend is getting her gastric-bypass surgery. I am supposed to go visit her in the hospital later on tonite. She is probably one of my best friends and I hope this really works for her. She has a young child and her health has started to decline in the past year or so due to her weight, so I'm hoping this gets her on the right track and it's a great success story.

Was at work until 10pm last night and here I am back here at 8am in the morning, lol. I hate my crazy schedule sometimes.........

-Sam

Hey Sam, I hope your friend gets along well during and after her surgery. Having you there I'm sure will be a great benefit!

Hope you are feeling ok this hump day and work doesn't keep you there too long.

Way to go on your week7D2 workout! I wish I could run the majority at 6.5mph. HA I'd be dead on the floor and people would have to walk around me. LOL

Keep up the great work!

Good news! My friend made it thru surgery :) Now the recovery and hardcore change of lifestyle will begin for her. I'm kind of glad to have one of my close friends I see all of the time be on this journey with me. Her's will definitely be a little bit different but I think it will be fun to help and support her along the way :)

So, in case you've missed it in my recent posts, my work has been working me a lot the past few weeks, and I'm letting it affect my workouts at the gym a little too much... So, now this is the month of May and I do want to make some changes. One of them being that I plan to post every single day in my journal on this site. I think it will help keep up my motivation and help me keep the big picture in mind. I also plan to give up diet coke and all other diet sodas for this entire month :) and see how it goes. I want to get to the gym as much as possible and progress my running. I also want to look into an allergy medication that would help me run outside, for some reason this year my allergies are out of control and I always end up cutting my runs short because I can't take it any longer. If i think of more things I will add them but I think that sounds good for now. I don't want to overdo it.

I do want to work on getting some before and after pics up on this site. I really want to push and get my weight under 200lbs and to 196.8, and that would give me 50lbs gone, then I would probably feel ready :)

G'nite,
Sam

Glad your friend's surgery went well. I hope she does make the lifestyle changes necessary to keep the weight off once she loses it. I've known many people to lose 100+lbs after gbs, only to gain it all back once they were able to start eating a lot again. I'm sure you will be a great support to her--and full of great advice since you've been there done that as far as making the lifestyle changes. :)

I have heard that everyone's allergies are worse than usual this year. Surprisingly, mine haven't been that bad. It must be whatever's high isn't one of the things that sets mine off..lol.

Wishing you well on your May goals. :hurray: I, too am really looking forward to Onederland. It was 2000 since I was last there. :smash:

YAY YAY! Sam is gonna come play more! hehe.

I'm so glad your friend is out of surgery and that you both have that extra support now. As far as allergy meds, I have a friend who gets shots every week or something during the spring and summer so that he can see. If he doesn't, his eyes water hours upon hours every day and he constantly looks like he's been under emotional duress.

I hope you find something that works for you to help you play outdoors more!

Thanks you guys.

I made it to the gym today and did 60 minutes of cardio. I did 30 minutes on the crosstrainer and then 30 on the treadmill to finish out Week 7 and did 3.10miles or so. Food has surprisingly been alright today too. I had a wrap at Red Robin for lunch with a couple of their fries but then went and I'm sure I ran a good portion of it off at the gym:)

-Sam

:hurray: cool beans Sam you are doing awesome with exercise. I am planning to hit up the gym for an hour too but treadmill only at this point...the cross-trainer kills me :svengo:

Happy to hear that your eating also went well today...You are the ONE!!! ;) I am also happy that your friend made it through surgery successfully. Thank God! I hope she recovers quickly and in good health.

Have a great weekend :)

Thanks everyone for stoppping by :)

I went and ran today at the gym because I knew it would make me feel better. I was a little anxious and stressed today about stupid little things and so I thought I'd go run it out at the gym, and it's even one of my "off" days from the C25K. I ran 3 miles in about 30 minutes again today. That seems to be my time that I'm comfortable with lately... I want to work on bringing it down to 28 or 27 or so. Today I ran at 6.7mph for most of it, and also walked some too. I did my warmup, then ran for 10 minutes, then walked for 5 minutes, then ran for 10 minutes. I liked it.

Food has been alright, and I'm really going to work on keeping it in check tonite at work. I have to work overnite tonite and I have so much down time that I'm sure I will be stopping into many diaries:)

-Sam

Sam - overnights suck :D

Glad to see you are doing ok...I hope that you aren't too stressed out...

Ali

How's the pop deprivation? Are you still doing that? I need to drop my consumption considerably (I already have, but it's still higher than it should be) but I'd like to get down to a can or two a day. I can't imagine getting rid of it. I'd LIKE to, but I don't know how realistic that is any time soon.

Everything else looks like you're on a solid track, man. I still sucked too hard to hit the gym this weekend. It's literally down the road from me. There's no excuse. I need to build up that habit.

Yo Sam,

Thanks for stopping by my journal. Too bad about the allergies b/c running outside is fantastic, even though my 7 miles today were indoors due to the freaking wind outside!

6.7 mph is a good pace. Are you jacking up the speed toward the end ??? I always do to really get my heart rate up and exhaust any other leftover energy.

Have you set a date for your 5k? You're going to enjoy the hell out of it I guarantee you. Keep it up man!

Nice job on all the exercise! Your running is very impressive. I can't wait to get to that point.

What kind of job do you have that requires overnighters? The pervert in me wants to say gigalo...:Angel_anim: But I know that's not it...:) I'm just a gigalo, and everywhere I go....Dammit, now I have that stuck in my head.

Gigalo... I wish, lol. I work in a data center for a very large grocery store chain. Funny thing, the grocery store (Safeway) isn't even located in the state of UT, just one of their data centers is... With all the computer equipment and stuff it requires that there be 24x7 coverage, and since I am the low guy on the totem pole, some nights fall onto me. Plus, since I am a contracting employee (have been for almost 4years) I am the one that usually gets left to cover for the employees of the actual company when they are sick or are taking a vacation... Sucks but I just try to grit my teeth and bear it, and just think about the money. Probably similar to a gigalo or a prostitute, lol... In all actuality, I feel like all the hours and weird shifts at this job are preparing me for when I am a nurse and have to work weird shifts and tons of hours anyways.... I don't ever get holidays off either, I have had to work every Christmas Day since I started here 4 years ago... I'm just bitching/complaining a little bit... I do realize how lucky I am to have a decent paying job and be living in America when many people in the world (even America) have much less.

So, on the exercise front I have been doing very well. I managed to get outside and get a 2 mile run in yesterday, and I took some benedryl before hand...... The benedryl was wonderful in controlling my allergies but left me practically comatose for the rest of the night... I will have to remember that :)

Food has been alright too. Trying to make better choices yada yada yada. I will weigh in tomorrow and hopefully I'm down a couple pounds. I'm in a contest on here with a few other peeps to see how much weight I can lose in May.

Hope everyone is having an excellent Monday Monday!
-Sam

Ya know, I guess I never told you about MY Sam huh? I have this Gorilla that I've had since high school. He's small and white and when I was a senior, he went with me EVERY where. The school was small and everyone knew about and loved Sam, and wanted to hold him and sometimes steal him to be mean to me. LOL. Anyway, everytime I see your name or see him, I think about you. That Gorilla has been with me for more than 10 years now. HA. I'm nuts I guess.

I hope you are having a wonderful day, and getting in your exercise and eating healthier than i did today. :D :cheers2:

Awww. Tasha, that is so sweet :)

I did manage to get to the gym yesterday for a killer leg workout with the PT. It has left me pretty sore today and I'm thinking it was mostly the one legged leg presses he made me do till I couldn't do them anymore... Anyways, I did weigh in yesterday and good news, I'm down to 210.7lbs!!! My lowest weight in a long long time, my lowest weight since I started with the PT for sure. I was pretty happy about that:)

Sad song though. I have been feeling a little bit under the weather the past couple of days. Nothing serious, like I'm on the verge of a cold or something that hasn't completley manifested itself in my body yet. I'm trying to knock it out of my system with vitamins, airborne, and sleep, and positive thoughts about not being sick, lol... Hopefully it leaves soon and doesn't turn into anything else but for right now my chest feels pretty tight and yucky, so I'm a little behind in my running :(

Hope everyone is having a Happy Wednesday, to me though it feels like it should already be Friday by now, hehe.

-Sam

Congrats on 210.7!!:hurray:

Hope you're feeling better! Benadryl always knocks me out. I take it when I have trouble sleeping. :D

I don't think you'd wanna a be a gigalo...lol. That would suck...

Sounds like your job pays well despite the crappy hours. You're right about it being good experience for when you're a nurse, they have similar hours. The good thing is that once you move up the seniority ladder, you can get more holidays off. :) And if you work for a doctor's office, you have great hours..lol.

Thanks everybody :)

So, feeling a little better today but, I still don't want to overdo anything or give any reason for this cold-whatever to completely manifest itself in my body, so I don't think I'm going to workout today either... I'm going to probably go hit the gym tomorrow morning and see how it goes.

Food has been so-so. Today it's been pretty decent, calorically. Yesterday I went and had a late night omelete and some hashbrowns at this little hole in the wall place by my house. It was very tasty.

A few weeks ago I mentioned how I was a hair model for my friend who is going to hair school. Well, I guess they had a bunch of judges and different salons look at the pictures and judge whose were best.... It turns out they really liked mine and they decided to use my pics in the advertising for his school :coolgleamA: All I've seen is the flyers they were passing around at the hair show the other day but I guess there is supposed to be a billboard or boards, and it should be up on their website I would imagine in the next couple of weeks. He is supposed to be getting me a disk of the pictures, and once I have them I will try and post a few up here so everyone can see me in all my modeling glory, lol ;)

I love today because it is my Friday at work. I only gotta make till 10pm then I'm off for 3 whole days. What the hell am I going to do with myself? Oh yeah, workout!!!
