SakanaUshi's Diary

I have some healthy snacks around... celery stalks, yogurt cups, bananas, beef jerky...

Okay, wife is home. I'm gonna finish my workout now. Then I'll cook dinner. Haircut is gonna wait til tomorrow.

Busted my ass for 987 calories on the elliptical. Now I'm cooking dinner. I'm ravenous.... but I've actually got a little wiggle room, so that's fine. :)

Ate a bit more dinner than I had originally intended, but I ended up pretty much on target last night... maybe -900.

Had a hard-boiled egg and some Frosted Mini Wheats for breakfast. I'll probably work out this arvo. My daughter has a doctor's appointment at 10:30, so I don't think I can squeeze it in this morning.

----

Went to Wendy's for lunch with my wife. I got a side salad, a small chili, a double stack, and a small chocolate frosty. It was quite good, and I'm adding up the calories now.... ouch. I probably would have gotten different stuff if I had seen the nutrition facts posted, but I didn't find them til after I ate. Anyway, total was about 1000 calories. Luckily, I already worked out a bunch today, and my breakfast was reasonable. I think dinner is going to be about 400 calories, so I think I'm good to go.

Dinner was about 400 calories, so I finished in style. Couldn't help weighing myself this morning. Maintaining 308 well. Honestly, that makes me happy, cuz the first 308 was a low spike on my graph, but this one falls right on the line. And since I've been keeping track of my eating and activity diligently, I know that I'm still losing weight.

Had some cantaloupe for breakfast cuz we're out of good cereal. Might have some more in a bit... and a banana, too. Oh, and we have hard-boiled eggs to use up, so while I'd normally limit my egg intake (watching my cholesterol when I can), I make an exception for the post-Easter cleanup. :)

Not sure when I'm going to work out today, but I shouldn't have any problem finding time at some point, since my wife is home most of the day.

We might go hiking at Red Rock tomorrow, so that could be fun.

Anyway, still going strong!

The double stack is a newish sandwich. They now have three sandwiches on the 99-cent menu: the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, and the Double Stack. The Double Stack is a very basic cheeseburger, but with two small patties instead of one. It doesn't have the same veggies as a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, and of course no bacon. It's still quite small, but it's a higher percentage of beef than the other small sandwiches.

I think the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger is healthier.... But that's not saying much.

Had leftovers for lunch, then got my hair cut. I wanted a snack after, and ended up at Subway (hey, it beats McDonald's) and got a 6" roast beef sub. Actually, it wasn't that bad a snack. It was quite filling, so it got me to dinner, and it was less than 400 calories.

Dinner was a tofu stir-fry... and it would have been so tasty, but I forgot to put sugar in the sauce, so it was a little odd. I ended up sprinkling some sugar on the finished stir-fry, which was also odd. But it helped.

Anyway, I have no idea how many calories it had because I wasn't very good about measuring the oil that went into the pan. Still, it was tofu, veggies, and some sesame seeds. The sauce was ginger, garlic, rice vinegar, soy sauce, a bit of water, and some corn starch to thicken it. Add in some sugar I forgot, and it can't possibly be that bad. I estimated the calories, and then worked out a bit to make sure I was still good for the day.

I figure I could have a little something before bed, but I'm gonna try not having anything.

So, another good day. :)

Tomorrow will be interesting. I'll be sure to post about it.

Today was not good food-wise. We grilled poolside, and I ate two brats for lunch. Then for dinner, I made pizza. Of course, it was a spinach and mushroom pizza with a whole-wheat crust, but I ate too much of it. It was bad, but I played in the pool with my daughter and I did some elliptical at about 9:30pm to try and make up for a piece of pizza or two.

I don't really feel like entering it all into FitDay. I really should, though.

Meh, I'll do it tomorrow.

I'm sunburned and hot, but I've gotta sleep.

Oh, today was Sunday, so I weighed myself and did my measurements and such. I weighed 306.5 and I lost a few inches here and there. I didn't do progress pictures yet (I'll do em tomorrow), but I'm excited to see what 10lbs looks like.

Dang good going sir. Thats a great drop for the time. Make sure you don't start slacking too much. You're doing a top A job so far (I'm jealous!) so keep it up.

Today was actually good!

I ate a ton of fruit for breakfast... seriously, I took half a cantaloupe and ate it with a spoon. Then, I snacked on a couple navel oranges. Lunch was interesting: I made tuna salad, very light on the light mayo, heavy on the dijon mustard and sweet relish, and then ate it with a few multigrain crackers. It was maybe 300 calories. Then I steamed a bag of frozen veggies (Spring Vegetables with Cracked Pepper Seasoning or something) and ate it all. That was 120 calories and my daily req for veggies, I think. :)

I finally did the weekly shopping this evening, so dinner was lazy (we didn't get home til after 7pm): we had Lean Pockets and green beans. That's some home cookin' right there.

Snacking wasn't a problem, and I even entered the info from yesterday's brat and pizza eating. It wasn't good, but it's not like it undoes any of my progress. It just makes that day not count on the road to my target weight. ;)

I finished off the evening with 30 minutes of cardio and a second trip to the store for Raisin Bran. I just had one more orange, and I'm heading to bed. Good night, all!

I haven't been posting my precise eating because it's a bit of a pain to copy/paste it from FitDay, and I'm lazy.

But one thing I'm thinking about it that I need to eat more protein. As it stands, my average intake looks like this, percentage-wise (by caloric value, not by mass):

Fat (25%)
Carbs (55%)
Protein (18%)
Alcohol (2%)

I know I should be eating more protein, but I'm trying to figure out how best to do it. I'm reluctant to start any kind of protein supplement unless I'm actively weight training or something like that. And chicken breast is too expensive for me to be eating more than one a day, ya know? I could do tuna or something... and I actually like tofu. Eggs are great, but some day, the cholesterol might add up.

FitDay says I eat 109 grams of protein a day, on average. I've heard that I should be eating at least 180 and probably more like 250 grams a day. Is that true?

being veggie I use tofu and whey protein shakes....I just substitute one as a snack every day (well I aim to) I've found it does really help as I get little to no protein!

Great job on the 10.5!

FitDay says that I am also not getting enough protein. I'm around 15% protein, 34% fat and 51% carbs. Not sure how I am going to shift that around yet. I'm not overtly worried about the fat, I want to be around 30%, but the carb-protein balance is way off.

Yesterday was alright... I had a Taco Bell splurge, but I did some cardio, so it worked out about right. Today was good, but I made (fairly healthy) lasagna for dinner. It's fine in normal portions, but there's so much of it left! So tempting.... mmmmm.

Lasagna is the greatest food ever.

I should probably cover it and put it away so I'm less-tempted.

I'll have some more for lunch tomorrow, and possibly dinner.

Trying to decide if I want to go work out tonight. I'm not feeling it, but I really should. I suppose I could work out enough to earn another piece of lasagna....

Portion up that yummy lasagna and freeze it so when you go back for another piece you don't have to look at the big amount that's left just the portion you need. After you work out think of all that hard work you did! Save the lasagna for later so you don't have to cook. ;)

So, that was a few days without posting. I haven't been good about FitDay either. Basically, if I keep FitDay and this forum up on tabs in Firefox, I check them regularly. But the past few days have been low on comp time for a couple reasons. First, my daughter has had a bad fever for a few days, so I've been taking care of her. And second, I started playing GTA: Chinatown Wars, so I've been very distracted and haven't needed the internet to alleviate my boredom.

I also had a bad few days for working out, but I went last night at least. My eating has been mostly good, even though I'm not tracking it on FitDay. And today is Sunday, so I weighed in: 304.5.

So, my pace has slowed, but I think that's mostly the lack of exercise. I'll get that going again, and everything will be hunky-dory.

Ooh, one last thing. I bought an exercise ball to use in my living room for two things. First, I'll do some crunches and such on it daily. And second, it's my new desk chair for the time being. So, I'm sitting on it right now. :)

I hope your daughter is doing a LOT better now! :( It seems like so many people are getting sick these days! :(
