Ryan's Fight Club Diet Journal

Take pictures before and after you cut off the hair! I would love to see the transformation.

I'm running low too, and it's only day 8! I'm at least sticking to my diet though.

Have a great day fighter!!

Day 19
=======================================

It's time to take it up a notch!
Tonight and tomorrow are TWO Holiday Parties in a row.
I've got my plan ready to go.
At the bar, it's gonna be water (most drinking will probably confuse that for vodka!).
I'm going to have a good workout before going to the party.
I tried on my new jeans that didn't fit three weeks ago, and they are fitting pretty well right now! Happy about that.
I'm going to weigh myself shortly for the Friday/Christmas challenge here.
Wish me luck!

Woo Hoo! You're doing GREAT Ryan!

Having a plan in place is the BEST way to deal with those parties. My plan looks something like this...

Drink rather then EAT your calories ;)

Have a good time, and congrats on those nice fitting jeans!

I just weighed myself and.....................
I've lost ANOTHER 4 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have now lost 10 pounds in 19 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have gone from 226 down to 216!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this will slow down, but WOW! I am so hyped!
It means a few different things:

1: My previous eating habits were HORRIBLE and loaded with too much sugar, too many calories, too little water, and little to no exercise.

2: Taking it ONE DAY AT A TIME is working for me! I am exercising religiously everyday, drinking tons of water everyday, and eating the healthiest I have in over a year!

3. You can do it too! 19 days ago, I was in a bad spot. I felt low energy, jittery, and awkward. 19 days later, I am CLEAN and my body is running on all cylinders!

I know that I have flushed a lot of yucky stuff out of my system. My digestive tract is stronger now, and my body is firming up from running, jumping jacks, push-ups, etc.

It feels SO DAMN GOOD!!!! I hope you all are kicking some butt!
Thanks for reading.
HAPPY FRIDAY, indeed!

Congrats on the jeans! Fabulous!! And it looks like a great plan for the parties. You can do it!! :D:D:D

Edit: WOOHOO!! 4 lb is excellent!! Yay!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to get out for a bit and go on a walk.
I read part of Pequin's journal.
From reading that and being inspired by my weight loss,
I'm (again) going to take it up ANOTHER NOTCH!
I've got a good belt that probably fits again right now too.
A group called 311 is one of my favorite bands.
I bring this up because one of their songs comes to mind right now..........
FEELS SO GOOD!

Hey Ryan,
Wanted to stop by and say howdy! Wow 10lbs in
19 days that is great hard dedicated work! You can do and planning
ahead for parties events ect will sure to keep the weight melting away!
Have fun and keep up the gr8 work,Tammy:)

Thanks Tammy!

Thanks Tammy!
I just got finished with a walking and push-ups workout.
Just pounded some more water too.
Happy Friday everyone!
I'm going to do really well this weekend at these 2 holiday parties.
I plan on not having any sweets whatsoever.
Going to pound some more water and workout a bit more before tonight.
:)

Congratulations on your success so far Ryan. Isn't it nice that changing our eating doesn't just mean some "tired" days. I love those "feels so good" days!!

Day 21: (It's been 3 weeks now!) 10:58 p.m.

Hello friends.
It is late Sunday night as I write here.
Two nights, two holiday parties?
Translation:
SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!
At the first Holiday Dinner Party (Friday night), I ate salad, veggies, and water.
I HAD NO DESSERTS OR REFINED SUGAR OF ANY KIND!
I finished the evening by pounding water while others had beer, cosmos, and other heavy calorie drinks.
Then............
Office Party on Saturday night:
I had lean chicken with mushrooms, veggies, and water.
A Free, Open bar tempted me, but I stuck with water.
Dinner options were a Huge Steak or my choice. Good call for me! The meat looked fatty and undercooked, so it worked to my advantage once I had a visual.
I had strawberries (and scraped off the whipped cream) for dessert.
The other two unhealthy choices were a HUGE slice of chocolate cake OR Rich , Fattening cheesecake.
I did it! Made it through 2 tough parties where temptation was only a hand's reach away.
Today, Sunday, I burned tons of calories by walking around 2 malls for 6 hours . Why would I give up football and relaxation on a Sunday?
Well, this was my only chance to Christmas Shop.
I did it! I did all my Christmas shopping in just under 7 hours total.
It was brutal, what with the crowds and chaos and lack of parking anywhere.
But, lots of walking made for a very active day.
I came home and stretched and drank MORE water!
Someone took a holiday picture of me this weekend. I saw the instant result since it was a digital camera.
I smiled because I looked a lot thinner.
My friends, we can do this!
I'm doing it, and it feels DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for reading. How was your weekend?

I had a good weekend with lots of shopping and a successfully hurdled afternoon tea party, thank you. How great you are going!! Two parties and still on track!!

Nice!
It's 19 degrees in the mountains right now, and some hot (sugar and caffeine free) tea sounds pretty good right now!
The Holiday parties (my 3rd this upcoming Wednesday) seem to be one of the hardest hurdles this December. Oh well. 2 down, one more to go.
Organic oatmeal and water was breakfast.
I'm going to stretch and go walk for a bit before I have a salad for lunch.
Oh. When I ate one of the strawberries on Saturday night, the slightest bit of whipped cream was on the strawberry. I tasted it, and my body's reaction was "What THE hell is that?!?!" It tasted so sweet. Granted the little bit tasted good, but I have concluded that a little goes a VERY long way.
I'm going to go get some water and toast everyone here!

Hi Ryan!!! Sounds like you're doing great!! Keep it up... mmm hot tea sounds too yummy right now. :D:D:D

Day 24
====================The 2006 Baby Blizzard in Colorado

At 12 noon, we have TWO feet of snow up at our house. It continues, and it won't stop for a long time.
Went out and used the shovel for a nice 30 minute workout.
24 days in now, things are still going very well!
Going to drink more water today (water consumption has been slow today).
Feeling lazy due to the weather, but will have an indoor workout (push-ups, jumping jacks, etc.) pretty soon.
Thoughts of the movie THE SHINING come to mind today as I sit in my log cabin. Don't worry, my ax is buried in the snow (ha!).
It's December 20th, 5 days until Christmas.
Christmas movies I may watch in the next 5 days:
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Elf, It's a Wonderful Life, and Home Alone.
Anyone have a favorite Christmas movie?

Nice!
The Holiday parties (my 3rd this upcoming Wednesday) seem to be one of the hardest hurdles this December.

You're right about that! If it was just ONE special day it wouldn't be so tricky, but it goes on for a long time doesn't it? You have been doing so well with keeping on track during those parties though. It's been a help to me to know that.

Day 24
====================The 2006 Baby Blizzard in Colorado

At 12 noon, we have TWO feet of snow up at our house. It continues, and it won't stop for a long time.
Went out and used the shovel for a nice 30 minute workout.

I don't know if you actually like the snow or not. I kind of like thinking about it, though. I have never even seen any snow at all, and Christmas is a hot time of the year for us here. The forecast is for 37 degrees C (98.6 degrees Farenheit) on Christmas Day. It almost seems as though those snow covered pictures on Christmas cards are mythical. Here I am sending a message to someone who lives in mythical Christmas land!

Hi there. Thanks for writing here!

I DO like the snow! I have relatives flying in from Chicago tomorrow, but THAT IS NOT HAPPENING ANYMORE!
In fact, they might not be able to fly out until Sunday.

You know, you're right:
I DO live in Mythical Christmas Land!
I cannot think of any place better to be than Colorado in the Mountains for Christmas!
Snow update: We have gotten over 3 1/2 feet of snow now since 4am today.
This large amount of snow, while beautiful, does interfere with last minute holiday errands.
OH WELL!
I did miss X-Mas Party #3 tonight due to the crazy weather. The party is supposed to be re-scheduled, so we'll see.
I had 3 LONG workouts outside today. Taking the shovel to the snow involved cold shivers and 3 different shifts of snow removal.
All in all, a long, good day where I haven't cheated on my diet.
I had to cancel a trip to Keystone Friday to go TUBING (Inner tubes flying down the mountain). I re-scheduled that for the day after Christmas.
You have to reserve a spot ($22.00 for a lift ticket and tube rental).
Anyways. Good night to all for now.

Day 25
===================
FOUR FEET OF SNOW dumped in the mountains.
Denver is an absolute mess! Airport is shutdown for the 2nd straight day, cars are littered on the side of highways like trash, and malls have been closed for two days now too (along with most of everything else!).
If you haven't done your last minute Christmas shopping in Denver, get ready for hell!
Everyone and their hamsters are going to come out of their homes tomorrow!
ANYWAYS.
I attempted to shovel out of the 4 feet around my house.
The huge, blowing winds are making my efforts useless.
I ate shrimp tonight for dinner.
Craving Red Meat in a bad way today.
Didn't have any though.
Drank a decent amount of water today.
I have noticed lots of regulars on this site are absent this week.
'Tis the season for last minute holiday happenings.
Oh. I shaved my beard today.
I have long hair and a lean, baby clean face.
I'm going to get a haircut tomorrow to avoid being called an '80's rock star.
I'll get a haircut on two conditions: 1: I can get out of my driveway and 2: They're open for business.
The "CAST AWAY" Diet I spoke of has lasted 25 days.
I'm continuing forth with the diet, but the first phase (Operation: Fat to Skinny Hanks) is a success.
I'm wearing a shirt that suffocated my waistline a month ago.
Now? This son of a bitch is hanging on me! HA!
If you're venturing somewhere for Christmas, have safe travels!
Luckily, I'm not going anywhere.
It's going to be a Beautiful, Snow packed Colorado Christmas for me!

Oh all that mountain snow just sounds pretty. We haven't gotten more than a usting this year.. which is odd as we usually have had a storm or two by now... darn global warming. ;)

So to we get pics? Do we do we?? :D:D:D
"Operation: Fat to Skinny Hanks" - that gave me a good chuckle!!
Merry Christmas!!
