Rox has lost 62 pounds....so far! *Update-82lbs lost!*

I joined this forum about six months ago, hoping to lose some weight and regain confidence in myself. By eating right and exercising a bit, I have managed to lose just over 63 lbs so far. I went from an obese 221 lbs on a 5 foot six inch frame to....158 lbs. As my frame is medium/large, I don't think I look too awful now. But I definitely plan to lose another 24 lbs and get down to my goal of 144.

This loss has been a huge struggle and victory for me. In July, I found out that my husband of 19 years has been cheating on me for years. He's always had to travel lots for work, so it was very easy to hide it. This was a terrible blow, as I always trusted and loved him... but he was not worthy of me.
Plus, we have FOUR children to think of.

I have astounded myself by NOT resorting to old, bad habits to comfort myself. Instead of overeating in my misery, I've used these last few months to become better than ever.

I know my new look will help me have the confidence I need to start over and keep being strong for my beautiful children...

At first, I wasn't too sure about posting photos, but I really enjoy this part of the forum. I have found so much inspiration here over the past months that I feel I should take the plunge and share. So, if my photos and my story can help to inspire even one other person, I'll feel like I've contributed at least a little.

In the picture below, I weighed 221 lbs. That was Xmas 2009:
Here you can see my body a bit more. I was pretty shy of cameras, so there aren't many pics of me at this weight:

Here is a picure from May 28, 2010-I'd lost some weight and weighed 212 in this photo.

Here's a picture from August 2010. I weigh 172 lbs. I can see a difference compared to the photo above...a bit, anyway:

These last photos are from October 10, 2010. I weigh 158 pounds.

***************Update January 12, 2011************************
I'm now at 146.9 lbs. I'm not yet at goal, but pretty happy with myself anyway! I've stepped up the exercise these last two months and really lost some inches. I'm now wearing size 8 clothes and that feels amazing.

Things are no better with my husband...but no worse. He's being pretty easy to live with. So, I'm just getting on with my life, job hunting, teaching, taking care of my kids...and losing weight and getting fit!!

(BTW- On another thread, we've been discussing tummy troubles...how bearing children can really be hard on your abdominal area. I definitely lucked out there. Even after having twins, I got away without a single stretch mark on my belly. Pretty lucky!)

Anyway..here's some photos so you can see the difference. The first is at 212 lbs, the second at 172 and the last two at my current weight.
*********Update 31 january 2011***********************
I'm now at 139 lbs! I'm still into my 30 Day Shred dvd and I can't get through the day without my breakfast of organic oatmeal!
I'd love to post more pictures here, but I'm already at the maximum...So, I'm going to post them at the end of the thread. I'm wearing lingerie, though, in one of them. So don't go looking if you're easily shocked...

I know I have a ways to go still, but it's lovely to get some encouragement for what I've done so far!

BTW- I guess the photos are showing up for everyone now? I wonder why people couldn't see them earlier?

I really don't know. First I couldn't see them and then a little bit later I could.

Well, I think the problem may be solved now...I hope so, anyway!

BTW- when are you going to post a bunch of photos, Val?

I did a couple of months ago but I haven't really lost anymore weight in the summer. I'll post some more at the end of the year when hopefully I will look as good as you :D

;O! WOW Rox!!!! You look great! Not that you didn't when you started but holy cheese! I'm so happy for you! You've motivated me to get out of my comfort zone (which I tend to fall into after reaching a mini goal x_x;;;). On to the gym I go!

WONDERFUL! really great job, question is your hair cut short into a pixie that way or is it just pulled back its hard to tell but if it is just pulled back, i say this as a hairstylist, you should do a pixie it would look so great on your face shape. just saying :D

Thanks so much!

In fact, my hair is indeed now cut in a super-short pixie style. I wanted a radical change and didn't want to look bland....
I think it's kind of Joan of Arc-ish, which is sort of great!

I was a tiny bit nervous at first, but I quickly grew to really love it.
And now I'm super-happy to have a hairsylist tell me it's the look for me. Thanks again, DerbyDoll!
