Road to Recovery

Todays food was ok

fat - over by 6 grams
Protein - on target
Carbs - under by 3 grams

I see in the TV tonight that another family failed to supervise their kids properly down on the barge landings. when will tourists to our area learn that Dingo's are wild animals and kids should be kept in sight at all times because Dingo's are predators and WILL attack.

also done the 2 X+ videos for today, easy session, for the Plus intervals I may speed up the playback speed next time.

I saw a dingo chase a toddler one day on Fraser island. THe beach was very crowded because it was a public holiday.

They just don't appreicate the dangers.

If there's one thing growing up in Australia taught me (that I don't necessarily see with people around here), it's to have respect for nature. Treat it well, take precautions (even in relatively "safe" settings like a beach, a park, or your backyard), and chances are really bad stuff won't happen to you. I see news stories about people getting lost in the bush or hurt by an animal and half the time my first thought is "what did they do to bring that on themselves? bloody fool"

Feeling a little stiff this morning but nothing that won't go away as I start to get moving for the day. Kids are back at school today so I can get back to regular gym sessions in the afternoon.

plan today is to do the next X+ video which is total body plus with a light gym session in the afternoon before football training which I need to write out my session plan for.

I see lots of people not watching their kids even in situations that I would be nervous for. Has the football season already started then? I noticed they also started a ladies football team in my city. I feel like it would be fun but I don't run very much due to my knees always hurting afterwards.

yes the season has started over here and we have had a few games so far, the team is due to have fitness testing next week to check their progress which is also a test of my coaching abilities but just watching how they performed last night in training I think there has been some good improvement.

so long as the league in your area is mostly social it would be great if you joined tally.

I'm not sure I'm in that good of shape yet BUT I will check it out :) I looked at some of the team members on one of the rosters though and felt like I could probably fit in okay. I did some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muy Thai so I don't mind body contact or getting hurt. Sometimes though I got frustrated with getting beat up before 10 am though.

Good luck on the fitness testing! Do they do test very often? Did you get assigned a team or did you start with some people and then weed some of the girls out?

Have a good day :)

I am running fitness testing at the start of each month, there was no selection process as it is a social league and everybody gets game time and the ages in the team range from 16 year old high school girls up to over 40 ladies with the older players being the most fit.

we have a couple of girls who have played in the ladies team which competes in the regional competition but most of the ladies are not interested in that level of competition and just play for fitness and fun. I have also been asked to consider doing some work with the mens under 19 team which just joined the the state level comp this year and are struggling with fitness at the new level.

Not a bad day completed vids, food was ok.

my eldest son is in a really good mood tonight as he has received a promotion for his refereeing moving from youth games up to mens games. He has also been given the opportunity to apply for a ref position at a national tournament where it is possible for him to be scouted for games outside of the local competition which is great because he is considering becoming a professional referee when he finishes school.

the air fares will be costly to get him to the comp interstate but I will probably be making the trip at the same time anyway to visit family in Canberra.

today the videos are a repeat of Monday and yesterdays yoga was rather pointless. Today I have to sit down and stock-take my medical supplies ready for Sundays triathlon. I also need to get in some light cardio, nothing to challenging as I don't want to be sore if I have to sprint in an emergency on the weekend. I am a little worried about my ladies team getting into another punch up with the team they will be playing against as there is history between some of the girls, we don't need any more players suspended.

I have also signed up for a professional development seminar on the treatment of knee injuries which is going to have the Bronco's team doctor as the main lecturer.

I have a bit of rest here at home for a bit before going back to work, ended up working last night and had my calf play up when I needed to sprint to an injured player, the muscle still hasn't recovered fully from the cramp I has a week ago and I think it may have a minor tear.

food so far today had been ok bit a little high in fat, fluid intake has been good, exercise is good as work involves a lot of short sprints when players go down injured on the field plus lifting if they need to be carried or stretchered off.

feeling like shit tonight, it was a horror afternoon for injuries, food has been horrible nutrition wise and to low calorie wise, hoping for a better morning at the triathlon tomorrow.

i hope today is better for you! Are you doing the triathlon?

If so I hope your calf won't act up. I have to take potassium pills so that mine don't cramp up when I workout.

No, I was part of the medical team, it was an Olympic length triathlon with competitors ranging from the World Champion and Olympic competitors down to the average person with great support given for the last man in who finished at a bit over 4 hours, a great achievement for a much larger man and an inspiration for those who let their weight hold them back from being active.

Now I just want to sleep as I have been up since 4:30 this morning so I could make the drive to be at the event at 6:30 am.

I have had a good afternoon sleep and now feeling a lot better, calories have been low again and I won't be able to make up that many calories in my evening meal but tomorrow is our role playing session which was postponed due to my work so any deficit in calories will probably be wiped out tomorrow, I can usually keep my eating ok despite the aweful diet habits of the typical RPG group but with 2 low days in a row my willpower will be tested.

Yeah when i was doing triathlon, i saw some people who were not looking like your typical athletes. It was great to see such a varied range of people. I think the oldest was in their 70s even. Very old anyway.

Triathlon is such an exciting sport to be involved in. I don't want to do quite so much training now and i don't have the cute little bike i once had - it also costs a bit, so i am going to do it again. But it was fun. If only i had not injured my knee from those stupid shoes and overtraining...:-(

Knees were a problem with quite a few of the triathletes when they crossed the line, I am glad it is not my job to collate all the injury reports on this job.

weighed myself for the first time in about 3 weeks, have lost almost 2 kg which as an awful lot on a maintenance program, I think it is related to doing more cardio during work as it has been a bad few weeks for injuries involving a lot of running to get to where I need to be while we have been understaffed.

my skin reaction as part of my allergies is also beginning to subside so the loss could be related to no longer retaining fluid due to my allergic reactions as well.
