Road to Recovery

Your joints shouldn't be clicking, for there to be a clicking noise there needs to be something rubbing together that shouldn't to make the noise, you may need to back of the weight a little or get it checked out by a doc. There also shouldn't be any pain.

When I was younger I tore all of the ligaments in my right knee then a couple of years later the knee would click all the time which then progressed to freezing up and collapsing while walking (very embarrassing to fall over for no apparent reason when walking through a shopping centre) in the end it had to have surgery. If I knew then what I know now i would have had it seen to much earlier for better rehab and a chance to avoid the knife. That being said it is possible to be fitter and stronger afterwards.

Just finished posting the bodyweight routine for the challenge in the challenge section of the forum.

Hey Tru :) Just read your post...thanks for putting in all that effort and I'll go check out the routine today. I need to start somewhere and I even have a whole exercise room, some light weights and a matt so I should be good to go.

I have workmen arriving today to lay new floor covering in my kitchen but I will try to get some time in on the bike this morning if my Achilles can handle it, with the bike being a non weight bearing exercise I hope not to stress it to much. I need to see a doc to get t looked at as it shouldn't still be sore.

Goodness! I hope it's nothing serious! You really don't need yet another injury to recover from, do you?

What kind of floor covering are you getting in your kitchen? I put linoleum in mine a few years back and did the work myself. Talk about back breaking work! It turned out really nice though (thank goodness!) and stands up to all kinds of kid related messes.

Hope you were able to get in some bike time and that you enjoyed it!

New floor covering was lino for the kitchen, as for Achilles it seems to be just a strain, last time I done something similar it took about 6 weeks but that that ok

I HAVE A CAR AGAIN !!!!!!!

I caught the train to Brisvegas (Brisbane) yesterday, a 3 hour cititrain ride is not fun followed by another train for an hour to get close to where I needed to pick up the car that mum sent me on a truck from Canberra.

It is a nice little white coupé with a token back seat and NICE acceleration, Not ideal considering we are a family of 5 with country roads to drive on but it is transport until we buy a new family car in a couple of weeks.

Hi Trusylver, just stopped by to see what's up. Glad you got a new car. Its so stressful being without one. I have couple questions regarding the body weight exercises, I will ask them in the chat thread.

Hey congrats on the new wheels! That's awesome :)
Just wanted to stop by and make sure you were OK re: the cyclone. Scary business :(

hey brawny, good to see you back, not lifting as much now but still keeping active

Jess, so far so good we are far enough south to not be under cyclone watch conditions yet unless it moves a little further south which means that we should see only the edge of the cyclone and not the full force if it crosses the coast where it is predicted, being in a cyclone area building regulations are strict so in theory the house should be ok if we ever get hit full on.

Exercise today, completed the bodyweight challenge exercises and added in a set of normal pushups with my youngest son sitting on my back as a bit extra.

Food

could have been better but not worth stressing over, only poor choice was the Double Whopper with cheese I ate for lunch, the bread roll will play havok with my being a coeliac but it has been over a year since the last one and it did fit into my calories :D

When you say cyclone is that like a tornado or a huricane? Here in Texas people sometimes call a tornado a cyclone or a twister

A cyclone in the southern hemisphere is the same as a hurricane in the north but i think the wind goes in the opposite direction.

thankfully this one should miss us, with just a bit of bad weather from the edges looking at the radar images on the TV tonight.

it is almost 11:30 pm here, it is to hot and humid to sleep, feeling bored, just completed a set of pistols for each leg and a set of stagger pushups, going to try for a set of hand stand pushups to see if it makes me tired enough to sleep.

almost midnight and it is still 27 degrees C (80.6 F), I have go to get some sleep or i will be stuffed in the morning.

6:40 am, 27 degrees C and 91 % humidity, I want to hit the gym today while my youngest is at school in his special education class.

Woooo Hooo football sign on is this weekend, so I will get a look at the team composition of the team I am coaching this year.

Hey, I just peeked at the bodyweight challenge post you made - HOLY SMOKES!

Feeling a bit intimidated here.

Ok, a LOT intimidated here.

:coolgleamA:

Today is my scheduled rest day, so I will be waiting till tomorrow to start my challenge. Won't be anything compared to what you can do though!

Great job!

I laughed when I saw you do pushups with your son sitting on your back. Too much. I am feeling my low back perhaps from the pushups and plank but I want the challenge of full pushups. And handstand pushups? That so rocks. I wanna be able to do something like that.

I am feeling soooo bad yet at the same time soooo good lol

the heat and humidity today is oppressive, I have sweat running down my back and legs just sitting still, it is 33 C (91.4 F) at the moment and almost 50% humidity maxed out at 37 C (98.6 F) Urrrgh I HATE THE HEAT, does anybody want to swap their snow and cold for my sub tropical heat.

BUT

did get in a good workout at the gym

Squats

10 @ 60 kg
5 @ 80 kg
5 @ 90 kg

Hamstring Raises with weighted vest 3 X 10

Seated Rows - 3 X 5 @ 70 kg

Back Extensions (roman chair) 3 X 5 @40 kg

10 minutes climbing machine (simulates climbing a ladder) at 92% max HR

Walk 2 km (1.24 miles)

no longer have any pain from TOM as a heavy workout works wonders and make me feel soooo good.

Hi Trusylver :)
I also HATE the heat and rather prefer the cold. No snow where I am so can't trade....but I wouldn't anyway :p
What is a roman chair? I've never heard of it before.
