Road to Recovery

it has been a long weekend intensive weekend wit a lot of study last week but my sports trainer quals are now upgraded. the sports psychology was hard but interesting and the psychology of injury and rehab and getting people to stick to an exercise/rehab program.

the strapping session was easy because we all had extensive experience so the session devolved into discussion about strapping unusual injuries and comparing different methods to strap different injuries.

overall it was great learning from some of the top sports medicine specialists from some of the top teams in the country including the national team while sitting in the classroom learning with the same trainers you see on tv at the big matches.

on a positive note was told i was looking better this week but that crumpet realy did play havoc with my allergies

today food has been good. exercise consisted of running through football strength and conditioning skills with my son followed by some goal kicking/keeping practice if my son failed to stop a goal he had to run a lap of the field dribbling the ball and if i was not on target with my goal kicks i had to run the lap, needless to say i ran a lot of laps this afternoon lol

it has been an ok day so far have done a little bit of work out in the paddock clearing lantana but have had some high GI carbs when i realy didn't need them for recovery. I am planning to go into town shortly to take my youngest to his special ed class at school then go and buy myself the new massage table i have been wanting to get for ages. wish i knew more friends locally interested in having a freebie massage so i can practice my technique. I realy hate running but i need to do more sprints this afternoon when it cools down outside.

Well done on the extra qualifications :)
I hope you had gloves on for the Lantana, I got ripped to shreds last time I cleared some of that out - bloody spiky stuff!

Free massages - it's a wonder people aren't knocking your door down lol.
How is your shoulder now Trusylver?

the shoulder is ok so long as i don't over do things which i am prone to do, I can't lift but i can do most normal activities without pain and my ROM is improving with less grinding and clicking noises lol.

reasonable day today, ran some football drills with the kids including 10 pistols for each leg and some proprioception exercises. ate some ice cream to bring my carb levels up as per nutritionist guidelines.

another ok day, no exercise except hanging a bit of washing on the line, feel like a snack but don't have any gluten free snacks in the house.

when the temp cools down a bit i will go and do a bit if sprint training. I miss my regular heavy training but my cardio fitness is improving.

it is going to be a hard day foodwise today, one of my sons has his birthday today and it is so hard watching others eat cake.

I am finding it hard to maintain my weight now that I don't have the training load of an elite athlete but i think my mental state is improving after the initial impact of discovering my career was over.

it is 6 am now so time to do a little bit of running before it gets too hot outside.

Another day and another day of maintenance. yesterday went well and today if all goes to plan i will hit the gym for a heavy leg session TOM is always a challenge but the hormone levels at this time are ideal for building strength and muscle along with burning extra calories so long as i keep cravings under control.

been a while since i have logged in, not that anybody but me reads this lol

I have 6 weeks to get fully back in shape for football season so stepped up training today and have started "bonk" training for 4 days per week to get my cardio up to scratch and get a rapid cut in weight.

was pleased to note my resting heart rate is still looking ok at 58 BPM but need to increase intensity as I didn't bonk untill 10 minutes into my rowing which was after my run and my rotator cuff training.

Have been slack this week, gym is closed and the monsoon rain that is causing a lot of flooding is really beginning to piss me off as I can't train the way i would like.

went to the gym this morning for the first time this this year, new treadmills had not arrived due to the flooding, was feeling good, stopped to get fuel in the car on the way home with hubby driving but as we approached our driveway we were taken out by another car from behind.

feeling lucky to be alive after the extent of the accident, feeling really stunned probably still in shock but not real sure about how i really feel exactly, have been cleared by the emergency room of serious injury for my self and hubby. just glad the kids were not in the back seat.

In pain all over this morning, not sure where the DOMS from training stops and the pain from the accident begins, but EVERYTHING hurts.

feeling angry now, the media gets it wrong again :icon_bs:, the standards of the local paper are appalling, if no one will talk to them they make it all with a few details added in from their ambulance chasing and listening in on the ambo radio grrr

normally I can exercise to get rid of the anger but the pain is to much which make me feel even worse

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGG :cuss::cuss::cuss::mad::mad::banghead::banghead:

pain is a little less this morning, at the moment it looks like I need to do some forced exercise, without a car and no public transport it looks like I will have to make the 5k walk each way to the nearest store for basic supplies. it is overcast today but very humid in the sub tropical heat.

Will stretch and see if I can reduce the pain enough to make the walk.

wow, i apologize girl for not getting in here sooner. I didn't know you were in an accident!! how terriable! i was in one a while ago, nothing like yours, but I know the emotional toll it can take on you! i'm sooo sorry!!!

and flooding too, i know i've been hearing about it on TV...is that in your area then??

i'm sorry to hear about this rough start to the new year hun...i'll stop by more often I promise!

feeling a lot better today, the assessor has written the car off and has sent his photo's to Brisbane for processing, cleaned our personal stuff out of the car after catching a taxi into town but had to walk through flood water to get back to the house.

there is some minor flooding in the area where we live but most of the major flooding starts about 1/2 hour north of us.

attached one of the photo's of our poor car, blanked out the plates because the accident is under investigation, they need to work out which of the cars behind us were at fault before charges are laid but we have been told that we done nothing wrong.

really glad the kids were not in the back, assessor said we were extremely lucky to get out with only minor injuries considering the force and damage involved he said we were very lucky to have had a very safe car model.

the photo show where the back of the car was pushed over 2' into the rest of the car including the main structure of the car, not just the body panels.

Wholly shit Tru how lucky were you !!!
If I drove I would be up to your house every day getting you to kick my butt in some serious exercise and then I would let you practice your massage (though i do get my P’S in May) lol

Rain is still pelting down, even if we had a car we are now cut off from town by flood water as it rises, seen an aerial shot of town on the TV tonight, looks like getting a hire car during the week could be a challenge as the hire car companies are on low ground near the river.

Have done some basic bodyweight exercises today (single arm pushups, pistol squats, Fulham Wallsits)

a Fulham wallsit is different to a normal wall sits as it works more muscles.

food has been basic, as we are trying to avoid having to go out into the floods without a car for as long as possible.
