RJ's Diary

ive slowly built myself a home gym through the years, i have freeweights outside bench, squat rack, dumbells, a bowflex extreme inside, along with a stationary bike, and a gazelle freestyle elite, everything except for the bowflex i either scrounged up at yard sales, ebay, or used at play it again sports.

Thats nice! I want a home gym too(again)..Not until i get more serious with working out. I have had a home gym last year, and we gave away almost everything!! because we never used it.. It was the stair climber, 2 stationary bikes, bench and weights, gazelle. grrr i want it back!
lol

I want a home gym so bad! SO BAD! First I'd need the space, I live in a 1 bdrm apt with my bf, so there's absolutely no room. But if I did have the room, I totally would get myself equipment.

Too bad you gave yours away! Do you go to a gym now? Or just do stuff outside?

Pricey yes! My husband is a contractor, home remodeling, and he had a large project at a gym. They gave him the machines that were broken, not broken all the way, but the screens werent working so we were lucky to get them free. The treadmill i decided to keep. Which is what i use now and the screen is broken on that too! lol but i bought a pedometer now so i can at least get an idea of the distance and calories burned :p

The stair climber was awesome! i remember breaking a sweat on that one. The gazelle was fun.

I dont go to the gym yet, I'm still in the self-conscious phase. Maybe if i had a friend to tag along with

Right now i am just enjoying my walking/jogging. Treadmill and outdoors.

The only thing I hated was when I went to the gym when I was near my heaviest... and I was doing cardio... there's these giant mirrors along the wall, and I'm thinking man, I do not wanna see my stomach, butt or legs while I'm doing this ... it's too depressing! lol. I just ignore the mirrors now, lol.

I do wish I had a treadmill at home though because I want to start learning to run, but that is the one thing I'm too self-conscious to do at the gym. It would be too embarrassing to job for 1 min and then have to stop cause of being out of breath :p

heh. i have a gazelle with those power shocks, so it adds resistance, works nice for me. i got that off ebay for 100 bucks

I MADE my parents get the gazelle off his infomercial! My sis and I were like, omg we need it! It took a little convincing, but I gave some money towards it, and they eventually bought it, lol. But, I can't use it anymore because I don't live there!

I have a question... I see you do a lot of cardio, how do you stay motivated to doing it? I go to the gym every weekday and do my cardio as well but I try to do it for an hour. I didn't go on thurs or friday cause I needed a break from it (I did other stuff instead). I just find it hard to not feel like... I'm being tortured :p I've just never liked cardio, and I'm trying to think more positive about it, but it's hard when the whole time I'm just wishing it was over, lol.

On the plus side, I love strength training! I think that part is fun at least!

i have a few different tactics, the most notable are my writings on my wall...

"Can't" crossed out

The mind has the power to convince the body it can do no more, when in fact it is capable of much more

One life... no continues

Prepare... for you know not what evil may come your way

also a lot of vizualization, the mind is a powerful weapon, i just got lost in it, and find the drive to push harder longer.

Yes, that was an awesome post! I know the mind is strong and can get you to push yourself when you think you can't. I just have to use it in that way, instead of thinking of how horrible the cardio is. Thanks a lot for the tips :)

The Good, The bad... and the to be determined

Yesterday after work i dont make it more than a block away when i SNAP!

I thought damn... flat tire... this is gonna suck i dont want to change a tire... it sounded like one when my tire was rubbing the wheel well. well... I wasnt so lucky. its a piece of a metal called the "radius rod" it basically controlls the angle my tire is at, with it being snapped, my wheel just flails around wherever it wants to go... which means: not drivable.

66 bucks later i get it towed to my house, start to look forthe thing on the internet.... cant find it. must be dealer only part. and can not find any idea how much it will cost to replace.

dealer is not open yet, dont know how much it costs. hopefully not too much, of course, im probably going to try to find it in a junkyard, but i need to know what a starting price is first so i dont pay too much

So of course yesterday was my off day as i did not have a chance to do my workout, im gonna do it now before the parts dept opens

Loved your post on how you get through cardio workouts. It is such a mind game for me. When I'm working very, very hard, (my walk/jog routine) I can't have any distractions around me. I can't look at people, and especially the tv. At my gym a lot of the cardio machines have individual tvs on them with cable, and I keep it turned off. I can see my reflection in the screen and I just look at myself and tell my self "You can do it kid" , "You can do this", or "You got it! You got it!" go through my head and it works. And I know my reward in the end is getting off that blasted machine and being able to say "I DID do it." It sure does beat the guilt I feel when I skip a workout!

You are kicking some serious ass on exercise, by the way! Inspiring.

Wooo HOOO!!!!

My part is going to only be 66 bucks!!!

and.... im 1 pound away from my mini goal!!! i wasnt supposed to hit that until end of april!
