Risty's Diary (Christina)

Howdy Risty,
Your cleansing sounds like a good one not a fad gimmic like the ones I have been seeing. We all have those chips and ice cream days which mine are chicken sandwhiches and ramen noodles lol.Your doing great and glad your back on track it makes you feel better.Tammy

Risty, keep it up! I cannot go on one of those cleanses so you have done awesome. Going on a little binge getting off of it isn't that big of a deal...what is a big deal is that you survived your cleanse.

Good luck with keeping down the junk food in front of company. Thats the exact same thing as i do. haha.

You odnt need luck girl you will get there !!! Just practise some restraint agian :):):) and start saying no more often agian - hee hee hee -

Well yesterday I went to my grandma's to learn how to make crema (this yummy cream stuff she makes for cream puffs and stuff) and polpette (which is kinda like a meatball and is made with whatever meat, bread, broth herbs and spices and diff cheeses). Then she showed me how to make this spinach, ricotta and other cheese tortellini. SO that's basically what I ate for dinner last night, lol. I love spending the time and learning her cooking so that I can pass it down to my children one day.

Good thing though... I used my bike for the first time and rode it to her house. It took me I think 25 mins maybe 30. It was hard and I got really tired on this one long ass road, but it felt great! There's a bit of a hill at the end of the ride and I got halfway up and then had to walk the rest. But I think the biking counteracted at least part of the supper, lol. She drove me back because there was way too much for me to bring back.

I'm going to bike to work today and it's the office that's just as far as my grandma's house, so I'm thinking half an hour there, half an hour back... maybe a bit less.

I'm also returning to my CK tomorrow. The lady phoned to see how I was doing. It's the evaluation for the end of my UBC program but because I missed the whole end of it due to my surgery I won't go for the measurements or anything, but I'll do the CK class instead and then join everyone for breakfast after. I think her call was really needed to help get me back into it :)

Sara - I can't believe how close I am to the 150's! It's so close but seems so far! When I hit 155 I'll be my highschool weight, I can't wait for that!

Tammy - I love how your "chips and ice cream" is chicken sandwiches and ramen! LOL.... I love ramen too but I just don't crave it. I never used to be an ice cream eater and then all of a sudden I love it, it's so stupid!

Adam - I'm glad I survived the cleanse. I did cheat one night and ate, but next time I do the cleanse I'm SO not giving in to food!

Cerella - Restraint from food is the hardest thing for me. I know I need to say no and control myself better I just have such a hard time doing so. I hope I can find some strength to do better. I mean I've lost 50 some pounds and I'm still struggling with food.... oy!

Bmohearn - Thanks for stopping by my diary. Yeah it's so much harder to not eat junk when everyone else is, lol.

that sounds like great fun... and definitely something worthy of passing down...

Thanks Risty, now I have to eat pasta tonight. That sounds so delicious, and that's wonderful you spent such a great night with your grandma.

Great about returning to CK, yeah I think that the fact she called you is really nice. They miss you :) Good for you for getting back to it. Bike riding is so hard for me to do, like not just riding around, but dealing with hills and such to get to a certain place. I just feel exhausted thinking about it, so it's great you're doing it.

Oh I'm so excited for you! This exercise output is going to send you to 155 very soon. Keep it up!

Hi Risty, Christina is it? Just wanted to say Hi and if you're ever coming to the island let me know and I'd love to meet up with you. Congrats on losing fifty pounds.

A trick I use when going up big hills is to disassociate from my body and ignore the strain, and just take it one pedal at a time. Because I do this, I no longer have to walk up the big hill that I do at the end of my bike ride. Maybe it's worth trying for you.

Howdy Risty
Hope you have a great weekend.I should mention that I do crave
ice cream more now I guess do to it being summertime.Tammy

Hey Christina,

I'm sorry about your binge - it's funny how we can't prevent ourselves from doing them sometimes, and then we feel so guilty afterwards! I'm sure that if it was left to you alone you'd have been on track... ah well, these things happen.. it's now in the past.

I love the idea of visiting my grandma to get recipes to be handed down. It reminds me so much of a popular TV chef here, Nigella Lawson. She's often described as the domestic goddess, and I just love watching her shows. She has so many recipes that were handed down to her from her grandparents, and it's just really evocative of a forgotten age (I think) and really cool. Your children will thank you for it...eventually. (At first they'll want McDonalds and crap  )

Well done on the bike ride. If you keep it up, you'll have strong (and slimmer) thighs in no time.

Hi Christina! I feel you totally on this one. I found an article I found interesting, and here is the link if you would like to take the time to read it:

Have a great weekend!

Great job on biking to your grandmothers house, that's the way to do it girlfriend!! Biking and I don't mean stationary biking is the BEST exercise, it really makes you work hard and keeps up that heart rate. I'm sure if you continue on your biking and CK classes, you will hit that 150 mark in a month for sure! Good Job! You should be proud. And I love cooking, so it's nice to see others are still trying to learn how, because most of my friends have never cooked and we are in our 30's it's a shame, they are missing out on a lot of good stuff right? Enjoy the rest of your weekend :jump: :) :rotflmao:

Hey Risty, I hope you are having a great weekend, and I hope everything is going well with food and exercise. It’s been really hot here though so I wonder what it’s like for you at the moment, and if you’re biking around in that heat, that’s awesome but I could NEVER do it! :)

Well the coming week will be a challenge with biking and CK. At least I worked at the closest office to my CK class. The hard part will be biking home from it. Even though it's not far, I'm guessing max 15 min bike, after a CK class and especially if I stay for bands, holy cow! But, I will do it :D

jliv - I will have to try and do that. I kinda did that for my lil hill by my place and I made it. So I'll have to try that for the hill by my mom's/grandma's place and see if it works or if I at least get farther up.

Curvie - I'll have to read that article later tonight when I have more time for sure. Maybe it'll help answer some questions, or just give a lil more insight.

MissLadyBug - I like biking to work for more than one reason. The obvious, exercise. I save money on gas. But when I'm biking to work I feel like I'm accomplishing something, sounds stupid, but it really feels that way just because I never thought I would do anything like this...ever. lol

Rho - I cannot wait for thinner thighs! That and a flat tummy... lol... it'll be a while yet, but I sooo can't wait.

Tammy - Maybe it's because it's summer... I dunno. lol I think maybe because I'm not eating all the crap that I used to and I just want to eat something tasty... lol.

Sara - The weather has been nice actually. Well the beginning of the week was raining like crazy so I didn't bike, but I biked thurs and fri because it had stopped raining. It hasn't got back to the nuts hot yet, but that'll come. I'm appreciating the cooler weather though! I wish it would stay this temp!

Happy - I don't travel often but if I'm ever in that area then I'll let ya know!

Sounds liek you are gettin it all together girl and refocusing and prioritizing - top off the bike riding and ck class with good eating and you will be droppin lbs like crazy !!!

ya know...all this talk of bike riding makes me wanna brake out my bike ( put air in the tires first lol) and at least ride it around the neighborhood...or walk around the neighborhood heh....
