Ripped

Looks like your consistent and doing realy well, keep up the great effort :)

Thanks Trusylver!

Today was a great 1 hr workout and ....an okay eating day. I've been eating every 2-3 hours, or 5-6 times a day. Each mini meal is 200-300 calories. My total daily calorie range is between 1200-1800 calories, which leaves me satisfied. Today I ate closer to the 1800 range and ate 2 mini meals within 1.5 hours of each other and felt stuffed. That's the bad part. Disappointed I ate past the point of fullness.
The whole point of eating every couple hours is:
- so I don't stuff myself or overeat due to being starved or deprived.
- keep my metabolism up, and make sure I don't signal to my body that it's in starvation mode.

Creating good long term habits that I can enjoy and maintain. I LOVE being able to eat all day and still lose weight. I LOVE not being hungry and still losing weight. This is not some diet I'm trying for a few months only to return to "real" life later on. I'm in the midst of a metamorphosis, a true lifestyle change. Guess I should expect to have to adjust along the way. Change, it don't come easy.

The nutritional value was aces though. I actually stuffed myself on garlic spinach and a bag o' light/low sodium popcorn. The rest of the day was berries & plain yogurt, fish, and a whey protein shake.

Tomorrow is another day!

I weigh in tomorrow for the New Year's Challenge and I'm stoked because I know I've taken good care of myself this week.

Today was 1.5 hours exercise. Normally I'd split that into an hour in the AM and 30min in the PM. But, I felt good so I just kept the party goin'.

There's a particular soup I like to pour over cooked spinach. But, one serving (half a can) is half of my recommended daily sodium intake. I tried to lighten up on the sodium today since I weigh-in tomorrow....just because I want the high of seeing better than expected short term results. Silly. So, I had fruit, fish, yogurt, protein shake, popcorn & beer. It was all tasty.

Thanks Trusylver!

Hot damn, you've had an excellent past few days! Fish, fruit, yogurt, AND a protein shake? The weight is gonna fall right up if you keep that up! Especially with the 90 min workout! GREAT job!:sifone:

Hope the weigh is goes well! I'm sure it will with how you've been taking care of yourself!

Wud Up Andy! Thanks for the good cheer!

I weighed in this week, 2 lbs lighter. I'd like to continue to average 2- 3 lbs a week. I am gonna make a couple of tweaks, as this is a live process.
First, I eat fish daily and I fry and/or blacken it in oil. I use heart healthy olive oil but it's still a load of calories. So, I'm gonna switch to the olive oil spray and pan sear or bake. Figure that'll save me tons of calories without depriving me at all.
Second, I'm going to try to get moving twice a day at least 2 times a week. That may be as simple as my standard morning work out and a walk in the afternoon. Nothing too ambitious as I'm already accustomed to exercise 6 days a week. I may dial back to once a day/5 days a week when I'm in maintenance. But I plan to continue eating 5-6 times a day. I like knowing I get to eat every couple hours. :)

If I stay at this clip...2-3 pounds a week, I'll reach my goal by end of March/early April. Knowing I could be that close is plenty of motivation!!

Thanks Jess! I am the man, ain't I? ;)

Today was my day of rest, so I was the captain of the couch, king of the kitchen. I ate well, 'round 1500 calories. Strawberries, whey protein, soy milk, salmon, baked sweet potato fries, smart popcorn & my standard light beer. Not bad considering I saw It's Complicated and it made me want to eat waffles, chocolate cake, pasta, and every other processed sugar and carb known to mankind.

Which reminds me, I'm almost 30 days off processed sugar. I'm not going for a personal record or observing Lent early. I am simply trying to change my palate by sheer habit. So far, so good.

I can't say I ever had a pair of pants split.

However when I was at my highest weight I was at the point where I would sit in a pair of fresh off the hanger jeans for a couple hours in the evening with them unbuttoned to get them to stretch in a bit before doing them up.

I guess I can relate to that sense of stubbornness in not wanting to admit I was yet another size bigger.

I'm the exact same way. I carry all my weight in my lower half so I wear a lot of A-line dresses to hide it. The problem with that is that I only wear a size 12 in that style of dress. It's not until I have to go buy a size 24 pant does the realization of weight gain hit!

You're doing so well with your goals so far, keep it up!

Hi bellyoff, your diary is a real inspiration. Well done on all the fantastic work you are doing! Are you near Melbourne btw? (Sorry can't help asking; you sound Aussie by the way you talk hehe).

Thanks for visiting my diary. All the best. :)

Very nice work! Not only does all that found sound like its high quality, but its a pretty balanced intake too. Im sure your body appreciated it :p

@ocd, Nice to meet ya! Fortunately I was home when my pants gave up on me. :) Denial is a dangerous thing for our waistlines and overall health.

@ Veronica, I'm really looking forward to changing my shape. It's weird but when I gained weight it wasn't evenly distributed. I envy people that carry extra weight well. I am not one of those people. However, when I'm the proper weight, I'm a proportionate size 6 all around. Impossible to tell from my before photos...yet another bit of motivation to lose the weight and post the afters! Thanks for the encouragement!!

@ Shinsplint! G'day! I spent about a month in Sydney and Melbourne. Maybe a few mannerisms rubbed off on me. ;) I'm just your typical supersized American ...though I'm working diligently to change that! Look forward to reading about all your positive changes.

I ate well today, nutritionally. Admittedly was light on calories, 'round 1,000. My tummy wasn't feeling settled so I drank lotsa hot green tea. I went to the gym and had a great work out. When I was in high school I had a track coach that would make us practice even if we were sick. He figured if we made it to school that day...we could handle a few laps. So, unless I'm bedridden I don't use feeling off as an excuse to skip the work out. Plus, I always seem to feel better afterward. All in all, a good day....made Great by all the visitors cheering me on!

My coaches were the same way and admittedly, I always felt better after the workout even if I felt horrible during it. There is something to be said about pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone and coming out triumphant.

Nice work. Just wanted to head over to your journal to commend you again on your dedication to changing. Youre doing a fantastic job! I totally relate with the coach anecdote. I remember our football coaches running us ragged until we were all red in the face, and then making us run a few more laps. You certainly learn that you can go beyond your normal bounds. Anywho, keep it up!

@ocd, Nice to meet ya! Fortunately I was home when my pants gave up on me. :) Denial is a dangerous thing for our waistlines and overall health.

Just after I started I came to the realization that denial was always the fundamental problem for me from beginning to end.

I was always big boned, or talking about how people were surprised by my actual weight because it didn't show that much. I didn't sit down and take a before picture, and I don't have a lot of pictures of myself from before because I was unsurprisingly not that interested in having any taken. I did however find an old paper photo of myself after I had already lost about 100 pounds and it was startling to me, It wasn't hidden that well at all, I was just really fat and in denial, my legs looked like hams.

I only kept one pair of jeans from that size, I donated all the rest at someones suggestion. But putting them on is a great reminder for me of the power of denial, and they aren't even the biggest size I wore, they are a size down from that. I remember being too big to even wear those and wishing I could fit even those tent size pants from my even more tent size pants.

@ Andy Thanks for the positive energy man. A few words goes a looong way with me. You played football? When I'm closer to my goal I plan on stepping it up to two-a-days...3 times a week. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve along the way to avoid a plateau.

@ ocd A picture is worth 1,000 words. When I look at my before shots I'm definitely seeing the truth, as much as I tried to avoid it. Two rounds of tent pants is no joke. You've come a looooong way already though. Dropping 130 pounds is impressive, no matter what pant size you end up wearing afterward. Here's to keeping that forward momentum and being proud of what and who you see in your photos!

Today was alriiiiight. I ate between 1200-1350 calories, but I shoulda had a serving more of veggies and one less of popcorn. The gym workout was solid. I did try hopping on the stairmaster but I'm still too fat. I have a small frame and the extra weight I'm carrying makes my knees hurt. No worries though, I'll incorporate it maybe 15 lbs from now. Same with running...I've got another 10 lbs to go before I start that. No vanity involved, just want to keep it low impact early on, so as to avoid injury. This gives me some activities to look forward to and work toward. Plus, it will be another way to shake up my future workouts and keep my body guessing.

There's a local flag football league on my list as well. Will join once I hit one of my milestones. Who says this can't be fun and games? :)

Personally, I think your flag football idea sounds like a LOT of fun! Im thinking that after I shed a few more pounds, I need to scour for a nice casual league. I'm liking this the more I think about it haha. :hurray:

I like what youre doing with the gradual blending of other machines. I started on the elip too, and recently have just moved to the treadmill. Its a completely different animal. Anyways, sounds like you are putting in genuine effort in your routine. Don't sweat the small stuff :p Keep up the great work!
