Relly, as you know from the crazy hours I'm often on here that I have had sleep problems for years right? I am usually such a light sleeper and seem to wake up every time I roll over. Plus I would get up after 4 hours and be up for the next 2 hours, usually around 2am to 4am I wake up. Well since I started the pill, which has a bunch of estrogen and a fake progesterone (progestin) I have been sleeping REALLY WELL. I sleep so deeply now that I dont even remember waking up once all night, like I'm on a sleeping pill (which I actually resorted to only about 6 times though my doctor gave me 2 different prescriptions). Then if I do wake up, like I did last night, I'm able to fall back asleep in about 5 to 10 minutes! YEAH!!!
In addition, what's changed about my weight SO FAR (still not confident this will keep up but very hopeful) is that if I have a few great days I lose weight, then if I do a re-feed which isn't too over the top (say around maintenance or a little higher like 1900-2400 calories) I haven't been putting on the weight I lost, or the scale only goes up one or two pounds and then as soon as I eat low again, it drops off and goes lower. That is how its SUPPOSED to be with weightloss, how it was for me when I dropped my 30 lbs before I hit my plateau. You're NOT supposed to go up and down, but never below your low, just cuz you ate one bad thing. That's what's been happening to us and its not normal.
So I have learned its not just the thyroid that effects us so deeply. The sleep and weight gain problems are classic symptoms of hormonal imbalance. So dont forget to check your other hormones, your estrogens and progesterone. What I learned from my bio-identical hormones book I only read a few chapters from (I need to finish it ASAP!) it said the blood tests are useful but they dont tell everything because EVERY PERSON is DIFFERENT and needs different levels of hormones. How tall are you? He said shorter big breated women usually need way more hormones than a taller smaller breasted woman. I should tell you the name of the book. Anyway, he does not believe in taking chemicalized hormones that are not identical to the hormones produced in our body, which makes perfect sense. So I plan on getting off the fake estrogen/progestin in my birth control that is now giving me my needed hormones. But GOSH I feel better on my hormones, I was obviously low on them since I gave birth 3 years ago when our systems can change. Also I was put on an IUD that emitted fake progesterone and I believe that may have had a hand in killing my natural hormone system. So easily and cheaply fixed with bio-identical hormones you simply rub on your skin every day.
Please please look into your hormones, and ask them to test them all including your thryoid and your 3 estrogens, your testosterone and progesterone. I really think you could possibly be having the same problem as me (same symptoms for sure, and same body type I think).
Something is OFF and that is a fact. Eating one bad thing out of all the low cal days you have, plus all that exercise, makes no sense whatsoever. Luv ya girl
