We didnt have much of a winter this year so a few weeks ago when the temp jumped into the 80's the grass just exploded. Time to chase the lawn mower around the yard :(
Thinking a beach house would be nice; no grass anywhere.

Sounds awesome.
OMG it´s SO good! So good. Only 80 g of meat and I´m getting three portions out of it :D I never realized just how much difference 4 hours of gentle bubbling make. If I ever move to a larger/better proportioned apartment I´m getting a slowcooker.

The grass in front of my office was mowed for the first time this year three weeks ago: it was ~40 cm (a foot and three or four inches?) long already

I have a huge slow cooker i used to use all the time. I really havent had a need for it since i changed the way i eat and started cooking every thing fresh. Before i would use it for soups and stews and roast chilli potroast and ribs. I guess just anything you tend to have to babysit. The one i have is about 6 quarts. not sure what your equivalent would be.it does take up a lot of room though. I think they do come as small as 1.5 quart which would be more individual use size. Maybe you could find a space for a small one that that in a bottom cabinet or something.

Yea it was really good. Its one of those dishes where two foods like beans and eggs dont go together but for some odd reason it works.
Hmmmm lets see..... With those ingredients maybe a vegitatian chilli.
Home made marinara over any kind of pasta you happen to have on hand.if you have any small types of pasta maybe you could do a spin on something like an american goulash
View attachment 24472 if you dont have ground meat maybe you could use a small portion of beans in it for your protein.
Thats what i would do any how :)

That looks pretty yummy! I'll be taking notes. And I'm with you on the grass situation! It's nice to have a garden, but mowing is one of those chores that seems to be left to the very end...

Yea the goulash is one of those dishes that no one knows where it came from. Why its called goulash i have no idea because its soooo not. That's why i listed it as american goulash. A warning that things were about to get weird ;)
Its pretty calorie and carb dense. You could clean it up a bit by using something like ground turkey and a whole wheat pasta.

@LaMaria Have i told you how nice it is to see you posting again?
Well; now i have. :)
:grouphug: Thanks, hon, it´s good to be back.

Yard work sounds like a workout, so I´m all for it :p And your food for the day sounds great! (You´re missing a meal, calorie-wise, but I´m sure you´re aware.)

Yea the food turned out really good.
Yea; i guess i just got busy in the yard and just never thought about lunch. Or maybe it was just the huge breakfast. Yea i had plenty of food. There just wasn't a whole lot of calories involved.

:D I'm just getting back from a "walk" with a friend and her 15-month-old: it's 11:30 am and we met at 7:30. We got stuck in the sandbox... (And I mean "we"; the littly wasn't as hooked as us.)

Sounds like the begining of a good day :)
It's 5am(ish) here and im just dreading cutting the grass again. I got the main yard cut but now the side yard is calling to me. Maybe I'll get lucky and the lawn mower wont start.
Im still not hungry; maybe all the protein yesterday. In a few hours ill throw something together hungry or not.

What´s the deal with lawns in the US anyway? Why do people feel the need to have a yard/lawn if they´re not going to grow anything useful or at least pretty? Grass takes so much time - and water - and if you don´t use it to play games on it really isn´t a very sensible use of space. Might as well live in the city and let the land stay green.

I really cant say. Yes its much different than it is in places like germany and France where the land is just barely big enough for the house to set on.
In this neighborhood most properties are about 3/4 of an acre. So big enough for 2-3 houses with plenty of empty space leftover.
Some people use it some dont. I like it because even with the pool and kids swingset i have plenty of room for a garden if i wished. As my health improves maybe ill take advantage of the extra space. I guess thats just how it is in the states.
