Really going to lose the weight for good

Ok... Once you've created your ticker, there will be three sets of codes below it.. you probably have to scroll down the page a smidge. Copy the bbcode one and then go to edit your signature.. once you are there just paste the code into the big area that you would normally type a message.

Hope that helps you :)

WooHoo! Thanks Adeon! I finally got it!

Purpleshirt: I would love a little healthy competition! We can each do the best we can, and encourage the other to keep up :hurray:

So far I have done well today with eating:
Breakfast: 1 bowl of Cracklin' Oat Bran with skim milk, 1 cup of white tea no cream or sugar
Lunch: Open faced sandwich on toasted Flax and Fiber bread with some avocado spread on it, sliced tomato and 1 slice of cheddar cheese.

I am just sitting here trying to figure out what to have for dinner... I think I will check out the cooking light website for some ideas.

Does anyone have any favorite low cal dinner ideas they want to share?

So I totally caved at dinner tonight. I wanted to have something healthy, but I should have had a snack earlier b/c by the time dinner came I was ravenous. I was ready to order pizza or something, but my hubby said "It's not the weekend, I thought you only wanted to eat that stuff on the weekends", which is true, but I was STARVING and I told him so. He suggested grilling burgers. I know that wasn't the best choice but like I said I was crazy with hunger. So I had a cheeseburger and 2 servings of veggies that I heated up. I was feeling worse about it until I put in all my calories for the day and came out at 1390. I know I could have done worse, I want to eat protein that is more lean than beef in the future. I need to stock up on some fish and chicken.

Tomorrow is a new day, I will try to have a healthy snack in the afternoon so I won't be overcome with hunger at dinner. Tomorrow is also treadmill day for me, I am going to try to add some weight training in also.

Hey there funmom. Don't worry about last night. It was one little slip. And if your calories were still low at the end of the day, then you are still in a decent position. Whatever you do (and I know you wont do this) don't let it discourage you at all. Just forget about it and move on :)

I'm really glad to hear that I'm motivating you to start doing strength training. Strength training is important because it allows you to build some muscle. I read somewhere in this forum that each lb of muscle built burns an extra 6-50 calories per day! Bottom line, it helps to burn fat quicker. And I didn't know that weights before cardio was so important either until I read a number of article a few days ago that were STRESSING to do weights first. In case you haven't heard the theory: glycerol is your carb stores in your body. The first approx. 20 minutes of your workout burns down all the glycerol and then when all the glycerol is burned up, your body begins to burn that fat. So when you life weights first, your glycerol gets burned up, (and you also have all the energy needed to correctly do each lift so you dont pull anything) and then when you jump into the cardio its PURE FAT BURNIN BABY!!!

Hope I've giving you some useful knowledge here :)

Thanks for the theory behind weights first, sounds good, I am about to go get started right now. I will post to say how I did later. Thanks again for the info and the support!

So I just got done talking to some people at my work and we are going to have a summer weight loss challenge. Everyone who signs up will put money into a pot, then each week we will have a weigh in on Fridays. If you maintain or lose weight you are safe, but if you gain you have to put in $5/pound. At the end of 12 weeks the winner takes all. I am excited b/c this will be extra incentive for me to stick with it. I wonder how much progress I can make in 12 weeks?

I just went to the grocery store, I bought a rotisserie chicken. I am going to use the meat (minus the skin of course) and make chicken, sweet pepper and 2% cheese quesadilla's for dinner tonight. I think that will be pretty healthy.

I did some weight training this morning followed by a 34 minute treadmill Walk/run workout. I added an extra minute of running today. I want to eventually be able to run the entire 30 minutes and then increase from there. A few of my co-workers ran in 5-K races this spring, I would like to get in good enough shape to do that too. I am increasing my running each time I go on the treadmill... slow and steady wins the race. :auto:

I am disappointed b/c I didn't workout this am., I am one of the last people in the world without any form of air conditioning. It was 90 and HUMID here yesterday and is going to be like that for the next 3 days. I work out at home b/c I don't belong to a gym. I just can't get on the elliptical and go when my house is 78 degrees and rising first thing in the morning (not joking, everything is disgusting and sticky). I have decided I can't take it another season so I have someone coming out to give me a quote on central air on Wed.
I put my pedometer on and I will try to get 10,000-15,000 steps in today. I am going shopping with my sister, so I guess I will have to shop until I reach my steps goal :p I can just imagine if I told my hubby, "I would have stopped shopping, but I really wanted to reach my fitness goal..."
Tomorrow the family and I are taking our wagon and walking down to the farmers market first thing in the morning (before it gets too hot) It is a 3 mile walk roundtrip so that will be good.

that is so great about your weightloss challenge at work. and don't worry about the cheeseburgers. No wonder you were hungry if you had that few calories before dinner. One thing that helps if I know there is going to be bad food around is I eat an apple or something, so I can eat less of the bad stuff. Seems to work ok. Have fun shopping

Wow you really seem to be doing great!! The weight loss challange at your work is a great idea. Is it going to be judged by percentage of body weight lost or just overall pounds lost? You can make some great progress in 12 weeks if you keep going how you're going.

Where are you from by the way? It's been at least 90 here for the past couple of days and will be for a little while more. I graduate from college on Sunday, and it's supposed to be 94 and sunny. The ceremony is outside. I'm going to die!!!

Have a great (healthy!) weekend! :)

Thanks for the encouragement! I think we are doing the challenge based on pounds lost.
I'm in S.E. Michigan, terrible weather in the winter, stifling humidity in the summer and 4 weeks of nice weather divided between spring and fall! LOL

I made my 15,000 step goal yesterday, so woohoo. Actually it stormed last night so it blew a lot of the humidity out. I am going to workout this morning. I am excited b/c I bought new running shoes and I am going to try them out on the treadmill for 30 minutes, then take a walk down to the farmers market.

Later my inlaws are watching my son and my hubby and I are going to see the new Indiana Jones movie.

So today being a weekend, I allow myself to indulge in what I have a craving for so I won't feel so deprived during the week. I find it helps to go out or order out the food I want to indulge in so there won't be any extra hanging around during the week to tempt me.
I went on my treadmill walk/run for 35 minutes, then walked down to the farmers market to get some fresh produce for the week, which was a 3 mile roundtrip walk. My legs were tired when we got back!!

Before we went out I had a healthy breakfast: Quaker weight control oatmeal made with skim milk. Then hubby and I went out to lunch with friends. I wanted to enjoy myself, but I didn't want to regret it later too much so we ordered an appetizer combo platter and I had one piece each of: potato skins, mozzarella stick, and chicken finger. Then I split a club sandwich and had 3 fries (just wanted a taste). At the end of the day we went to a DQ and I had a small sundae. We ate late so I didn't have dinner. I was nervous about putting all my food into my online calorie counter but it came out at 1650. I was happy with that since it was a splurge day for me.

I am excited about the produce we got at the farmers market today, fresh mixed greens, arugula, radishes, green onion, broccoli and farm fresh eggs. I will be able to have some really good salads this week.

I am going to weigh myself tomorrow, hopefully I will be able to move my ticker closer to my goal!:)

First off note that my ticker has not changed, sad day.
I really thought I would have been down another pound by now. I got off track this weekend. I was totally PMSing, I get so cranky, irritable and crampy. I totally did not have the energy to workout on Sunday. I haven't worked out since Saturday (bad I know). I am going to try to work out tomorrow or at least for sure Thursday. I have such bad cramps it's hard to walk sometimes, so exercising has to wait until I can move again.

I am going to get back on track with my eating tomorrow.

You are doing great don't worry about it. When I was trying to lose weight, some weeks I'd lose a couple of pounds and others I wouldn't lose anything. It isn't a linear process so don't get discouraged. :)

I am feeling better today, sorry about yesterdays rantings of a crazy woman!
I plan to work out tomorrow. I ate a little better today. I think I felt nasty coupled with the fact that I didn't lose any weight, led me to give up hope and have pity party for myself. I am better now and have fresh resolve to achieve my goal!

Did some weight training this morning and I am now having a bowl for Cracklin Oat Bran. Not the absolute best choice, but since what I was really craving was a S'more, this is much better.

Exciting news, we had a quote for central air yesterday, they are coming back next Wednesday to install. Then I will not have the excuse that it's too hot to workout.

I need to get back on track with my eating and working out, I have a bad habit of getting all excited and starting for a few weeks and then just tapering off. I can't let that happen this time! I don't want to be twenty years older and still carrying all of this weight around. I don't know where all of my motivation went, I just woke up the other day and it was gone... but I did wt training today and I will get my butt on the treadmill tomorrow. I need to stick with this!

whatever you do DONT QUIT!
Recently I've been feeling like I'm not getting anywhere. I've been getting discouraged because my clothes feel the same and the scale says the same. But I will not quit. I know that EVENTUALLY somethings gotta give. I continue to bust my ass everyday for an hour at the gym. So dont give up girl!! stay focused :D

Alright thats my motivation talk for the day :)

Thanks for the pep talk! I look around on this board and I see so many success stories I know that I can't quit. If so many people can do this than so can I. I am tired of being the fat one, I am tired of not having any cute clothes that will fit me. I will prevail! (that was my own pep talk for myself)

I will work out today and eat healthy and I will see the numbers on my devil scale drop!

I had a great workout this morning! I did 45 minutes of walk/run on my treadmill. I was able to increase my running and do the most I have ever done! I also did my weight training and ab workout before I hopped on the treadmill. I am proud of myself! I was worried that I would have a hard time getting back on the treadmill b/c I totally flaked last week and didn't get on it once, I was feeling totally wimpy and not motivated last week.

Last night I was online and I checked out the part of this forum that people post their before and after pics. Wow! I was like hey that girl used to look just like me and now she is totally fab! That kicked my butt back into gear. I want to look as good as those after pics. Maybe I will take some before pics for myself. I don't think that I would be brave enough to post my pics. Maybe when I have some after pics I will post something.

I went to the farmers market today, so I have lots of fresh produce for this week. I am back on the wagon and ready to go!

It's great to hear that you are back in control! I always look at the before and after threads for an extra motivation boost. I like to look at the pics of the people with similar start and end weights as me so that I know I will eventually get to that.

Awesome workout today!!! That sounds great!! I don't usually workout on the weekends unless I miss a day during the week. But today I did some jump rope. It felt reallllly good!!

Well have a good day my dear :)
