Raising The Bar

nope, why would it? But I didn't catch CCR having that problem. Personally I don't care about the calluses I get from lifting, my skin has adapted and they never rupture and bleed, a lot of people might think they don't look that attactive, but my GF says it makes me have man hands :D

Didnt think it would. Thats the only reason I wear gloves.

I'm pretty pleased with the progress in my legs so thought I'd post a few pictures. Sorry about the loo in the background, it's the only place I have a mirror in the house.

I took the new pic first thing this morning, the old pic is from about 5 months ago, unfortunately it doesn't show my upper legs very much but I did used to try and hide them a lot back then

Old legs (I'd just moved into a new house, excuse the paint work :))

New legs this morning

There's still a long way to go because I've only been squatting and deadlifting for about 6 months but I'm really pleased with how things are going. My upper thigh is about 26-27" now. 18 months ago my waist was about 30"!

I'm doing an upper body workout today to give my leg a bit of rest. I might do some high rep squats though, drop the weight down to about 200lbs and try and knock out some sets of 20
It's feeling like a bit of a wasted week, I got injured on Tuesday, had a rest day yesterday and have tomorrow off to watch my daughters Christmas play

I would skip the squats for this week. Let your legs heal, you'll be happy you did or pissed if you further complicate your injury.

Playing dad is never wasted time. ;)

I don't 'play' Dad ;)

I did an HR upper day today, very unstructured I'm afraid but I tried to get most of the key stuff in there. I didn't document many weights though

Bench Press 3x10 @ 154
Military Press 2x10 @ 132, 1x6 @ 132
Barbell Rows 2xlots
Bicep Curl Machine 2x10 @ 121
Some BW Pull ups
Some Pull Ups @ 10kg assisted
Some BW Dips
Incline Chest Press machine (can't remember weight or reps)
Seated Row 3x10 @ 169
Tricep Pull downs 2x10@ ? can't remember

I'm back after my long weekend another year older, 27 now, closing in on 30 :bncry:

I've had an awful diet over the last 3 days so I'll probably weigh in lighter today with a higher bf%

Never mind, heavy squats today, I'll give them a go and see if my hamstring holds out

I keep thinking it's OK but every now and again it seems to pull really tight and I can tell it's damaged because of one little spot that hurts.

I'm hoping squats woun't be too taxing on it though

I was a bit slow with my routine today so only managed my 3 key lifts, calf raises and trunk twists will either need to be done tonight or I'll have to do overtime on my rest day

Squats

3x264 (testing the water)
3x286
3x308
3x308
3x308
6x264 (giving the damaged leg a break)

DB Chest Press
6x3 @ 176

My horizontal pressing seems to have got stuck here

Overhead BB Press
6x3 @ 121

This has improved a little but I'm sure that'll improve a lot more soon, I'm sure I could have done some reps at a higher weight today

Just had a major result, it turns out the building our company works from is closing on the 21st and not opening again until Jan 2nd. This time off doesn't come out of our holiday allowance either :)

Here's the sad part; rather than take my remaining holiday allowance I'd kept aside for that period this month I've request it be carried over to next year because I don't want to miss too much gym time

So you dont get the time off?

Yeah, I get the time off, it's just that I don't need to use my holiday allowance to take it anymore.

I think that now gives me 27 days holiday next year :)
Shame I want to change jobs, I'll probably get something with crappy holiday allowances

I've got well out the groove with bulking, I'm down to 229! What the hell is going on? I must be up to about 5,000 Kcals a day at the moment and nothing's going on. Maybe it's the high rep work I'm doing burning more calories? Or is that just clutching at straws?

Either way, I'm gonna need to do anouther food shop soon so I'm going to have to up calories again, I'm fed up of being a scrawny 230lb guy :p

I did my HR Pull day today instead of ME. I'm swapping these days around as I found doing 2 ME days back to back was badly affecting my ME pull

Deadlift
12x220
12x242
12x242

no ill affects from the hamstring, it was slightly tight afterwards though, but no pain

Cable row
12x185
11x180
12x169

Face pulls (done before lat pull down due to equipment availability)
2x10 @ 143

Lat pull down
12x139
12x123
12x123

My Lat pull down sucks big time!

SLRDL
2x10@ 99lbs - balance is pretty easy now, will put more effort in next week

Bicep curls
2x15 @ 53lbs

Does anyone remember the scene in Casino where DeNiro drives out to meet Pesci and he says that every time he meets him there's a small chance he won't be coming back but this time the odds are a lot higher?

Well that's me right now at work, there's been a load of changes at my company in the last year which haven't gone well resulting in the share price collapsing and most recently a new management team coming in. Obviously this means everything is under scrutiny and being reviewed.

I seem to be having meetings every week about my department and another one-on-one session has been called for tomorrow afternoon

Anyone who comes from a business background knows that isn't good, a meeting with no obvious purpose at the end of the day is bad, mornings are good, but afternoons are bad, that gives them enough time to says thanks but piss off and then call a meeting to tell everyone you've gone without disrupting the days work

I'm thinking you should take The Eastwood's model and dish out some corporate justice if you get fired.

Of course the news would portray you as a crazy Colt .45-toting freak, but we'll know the truth. We'll know.

Well the moment of true is here, I'm about to have that meeting, if I don't post again today then I've walked the plank and I'll post again when I've got another job with completely open and unchecked internet usage
