Raina's Back!

Ok... So, I'm here. I'm back, and I'm going to make it this time!!! I have been in kind of a dark place this last little while. I have had a minor epiphany that my weight is tied extremely close to my self esteem, and I can't let it get the best of me! I'm going to need help... that's why I'm here.

Last time, I thought it would be easy to be on a repetitious regime. I would eat the same things to be able to clearly see how many calories I ate. It worked, but I got tired of it after a few weeks, and then... I gained everything back. Yuck!

This time... I'm going to eat a regimented breakfast. With Fiber and a multivitamin. Snack... I have plenty of healthy bars and fruits to choose from. Soup for lunch (under 200), another snack. And, dinner... Under/around 500 calories. If all goes well, I’ll be above 1200 cals, under 1500. and a working out routine that rotates between weights and a stationary bicycle.

I'm a bit of a romantic, and my husband has agreed to write me sweet little love notes (he's not great at this, and I'm butter when he does) and my reward after 10 days of sticking to the plan, I get to open and read his letter. :D

We have a trip planned for December (the beginning) which is going to be a glitch, but I've decided there is no better time than NOW to start. I can't keep looking for something else to stop me. I can handle glitches... right? I have 10 days before my reward, and 2 1/2 weeks before a vacation.
I'll be here reporting my progress.

Stick with me. I need lots of motivation.

Alright. Yesterday was great!!! Today, so far so good. Although, I had a major hit when I went shopping and the mirrors kept being rude! I am set into such a downward spiral so quickly.
Is it even possible to make a dent in 10 days?? I know that's not the end at 10 days, but those are my mini goals. Something to set new every time.
I'm at just the beginning

maybe a SMALL dent in 10 days, but I wouldn't advise it. I went on a crash diet one time and when I say crash, I mean CRASH! I lost 10 lbs in 10 days! I went on to lose 11 more lbs in the following two months, needless to say, I gained it ALL back. I know you have a vacation deadline, but be carefull.---You dont kneed me to tell you though. Good luck though!!!

Heyas Raina,
I get that way,I was willing to do that 3 day diet
that you can lose 7-10 lbs on but you had to follow the menue
to a "T" and couldn't sub any foods and I didn't like 1/2 of the foods!
Then I was thinking when I go to eat my healthy way I would gain
it back so I never tried it.It did have all the food groups and totaled
around 1000-1100 cals! Not for everyone...........Good luck to ya
have a gr8 Monday,Tammy:)

Well, I'm here for the long haul! 10 days is just a mini goal. If I don't break it down into mini goals, I tend to think that each day doesn't matter. But it does. I had a early Thanksgiving with some extended family last night, and I did pretty well. I am trying to eat regularly, and I definately cut my portions down.
Now, I just have to get through Thursday! And, this vacation... I'm excited for it, but I'm going to kick butt through it, and after as well! I'm sure I won't be able to watch my diet as close, but I'm not going to gain any more weight. I can't let that happen. I feel terrible as it is, and there is only one way to fix it. HARD WORK!
I'm lifting weights today, and I can finally move again after a hard workout last Friday.
Thanks to everyone who has made such wonderful comments. I love feedback, advice, stories, motivation. anything! It means a lot to me. I look forward to getting on here, and I appreciate you all.
thanks again!

Hi Raina,
Welcome back to posting :)

I know for me, if I tried to follow too strict a plan, I would fail. Every slip up would be an added failure. Not to mention, when I would 'go off' the diet, and back to my normal ways of eating I'd gain it back. Top that off with something like a VACATION, I would splurge as if it's my last meal (or 10).

What's different for me now, is that I'm not on a diet, I'm eating better and living better - that's the kind of plan that will work long term for me, no matter what little dents life throws my way.

You'll get there, you're off to a good start, you're here and want to make a change! You CAN do this!

Hi Raina!! Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for stopping by my journal! :D

I love making mini goals for myself. Makes it feel easier and appeals to my sense of instant gratification..lol. Good Luck!! Looks like you're off to a great start!! :D:D:D

Have you ever drank so much water you feel nauseous?? I did yesterday and I know it is good for me, but I just couldn't take any more after awhile.

I am so bummed! I woke up this morning with a soar throat and a runny nose. I just took some Dayquil and once it kicks in, I hope I have enough energy to get on the bike. I don't want to miss a day.

Yesterday was great. I have kept my calories consistant and low. Yesterday I had my fiber cereal (230 with milk), Kashi bar (130), Butternut squash soup w/crackers (200), zone bar (200), and a salmon and couscous dinner (500), applesauce for snack (50) = 1310.

AND... I managed to get 10,000 steps in. I had to take the dog for a late walk to get those last steps in. I was pretty excited.
Now, I just have to make this headache and aches go away.

Sorry youre feeling poopy.. hopefully the medicine will help.
I went through a phase where I'd have to literually gag my water down. Like my body was trying to rebel or something. I just doctor it up with a little lemon and make sure it's really cold on those days.

Feel better!!:D:D

Raina,
I think it is great how you are doing it and your food sounds yummy (couscous and salmon!!!!) I just wanted to comment on the drinking. I am by no means an expert but I do study physiology in my final year and did a lot of research on the kidney. Drinking too much when not thirsty or hungry is not good for you,it puts a lot of strain on your kidneys! Your body tells you what it wants, some people take a lot of salt in and need a lot of water to equal it out, some people don't and rather have too much water in comparison to their salt levels. Flooding your body is only gonna do you harm, when you feel sick from it stop it, because that is your body telling you to stop!!

Just my 2 cents! You can drink water when you feel hungry to stop the hunger feeling, just don't over do it!!

Love Mila

Wow.. thanks Mila. I have definately not been drinking enough, but it is good to know there is such a thing as too much too. The puking feeling might have been an idicator that I needed to give it a break for a little bit.
Thanks for the advice!

Ok I wanted to say hi to everyone because I am very busy

every other light is burned out so geeesh off to the store again....
ANYHOO HAVE A GR8 DAY WILL CATCH UP ON READING LATER. TAMMY

I hate being sick! I felt like crap yesterday. I managed to get on the bike for about 20 minutes and thought I was going to die. It was after some meds kicked in, so after I was done, and the meds wore off... I was back to the couch. I hope today is better. I hate the fact that my appetite is gone too. I know that when you eat tooo little your body goes into starvation mode and holds on to everything your trying to get rid of. I hope I didn't just kick myself into that mode.
I'm hoping this cold goes away as fast as it came. I need to get feeling better to have a great Thanksgiving!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
