Hi Sarah

I am sorry that your internet is still broken.

It is excellent news about the job. I think that just about everyone would have done what you have done and gone with the permanent job. I bet it felt great to be in demand after the annoyance of having to accept a job in an office after all your years of training.

Your career is really taking off now. Congratulations.

I wish you luck at the scales. Sometimes we can get a nice surprise and find that a little loss is where we had not expected one. I hope that this is the case for you.

Have you managed to take control of your food yet. I hope that you have. You were having difficulty with this on your earlier posting. Combine it with exercise and you stand a very good chance of losing weight and getting to your next milestone.

Good luck

Take care
Love
Margaret

Can you explain the whole "theatre nurse" concept to me? I am confused...theatres around here do not have nurses...or are theatres not the same thing in the us as in uk?

Wow Rah, that is so exciting that you got the OR nurse position. That is amazing and all your efforts at schooling are now paying off! You must be totally excited to be starting on your new career first thing in the new year. What a great way to start 2008.

Its hard to lose weight during the holidays if you're going out a lot. I would absolutely focus on maintaining and turning down as much as possible, but dont feel guilty if you indulge a bit as long as you dont go overboard. I have a feeling the weight will be simply dropping off once you start your new job. You'll be busy and excited for one.

Hi Guys

Sorry for the OR/Theatre confusion sometimes i dont think about things like that I do look at my spelling though when i know its spelt differently in the US but figure you will know what i mean LOL

Well internet is still down so i am 'visiting' the parents so had a good chance to catch up today

Well my maintain last week got me down even though i know where it came from and it was my fault but i think i am going to maintain this week as well and again i know where its come from comfort eating as i am stressing about money or lack of i should say but i know its only for another few weeks till i start my new job
I think i am going to write a full food diary like i did when i first started and hopefully keep a better eye on things, i have my works xmas meal on friday so i am going to be extra good till then so i wont feel guilty but really hard avoiding the mince pies and xmas goodies that are around!

You will never guess what happened today,
I got a call from the manager of ICU (the job i turned down) and she was asking why so i explained i was offered a perm contract and with a mortgage thats the better long term option for me then she offered me a perm contract on the ICU!!!! i had a quick think but decided to say no as i think the OR will be more interesting and less shift work but the ICU will be more money because of the shift allowances but decided i need to be happpy in the job and go work because i enjoy it not because i get paid more
Oh and i also had a letter inviting me to an interview for another ward...typical no job for months then i am inundated LOL
Well its all sorted anyway i am sticking with the OR so ringing up for my medical this week so one thing less to stop me starting in the new year getting really excited about it all now

Sarah

Hi Sarah

I hope that you realise that the fact that the ICU people got in touch and offered you a permanent post means that you impressed them a great deal by both your application and interview. They will not do that for every person that they offer a job to when it is not accepted.

Try not to stress too much about the money side of things. Christmas is a time when shops and businesses try to persuade a lot of people to stretch themselves - but in my experience you can have a great time whilst spending comparitively little. It certainly makes the task of paying for it a great deal easier.

Comfort eating is something that many of us have indulged in when feeling down. Try to resist - but immediately forgive yourself if you indulge. Guilt is a destructive emotion.

I gave in to temptation today - in that I had a piece of stollen. I can tell that Christmas is going to mean that I am tempted time and time again over the next month. My weight was up today - heaven knows what the scales will say tomorrow!!! I somehow think that few of us will be breaking weight loss records this month.

I am sorry that your internet is still out of action.

Good luck at the scales tomorrow night.

Take care
Love

Hiya

I am glad to tell you i am in the comfort of my own home yes the internet is finally fixed!!!

Well weigh in was ok I lost 0.5lb so not much but in the right direction so im happy with this i got in and took the dog on the 1.7mile walk something i havent really be doing much so i think i better get back in the habbit.

Tomorrow night i am going out with the team from my temp office job for our christmas meal i am really looking forward to it and have planned what i am going to have already so i wont be tempted by anything else

The rest of the week should be good i think i am aiming for 2lb loss this week.

Sarah

Hi Sarah

Congratulations on the half pound loss. Any loss in December is excellent in my book. I have already decided that I will continue working as hard as I can on my weight loss project - but I will be satisfied if I weigh no more on 2nd January than I did on 1st December. So many people put on weight over christmas that we should be prepared to view "no loss and no gain" as a major achievement.

You will be so pleased to have the internet back up and running at home. We depend on it so much these days.

It is so good that you are walking now. I really do credit my walking with the reason why this weight loss project of mine is succeeding where so many I have attempted in the past have failed.

Have lots of fun at your christmas party.

Take care

Hi

Christmas party was great the food was really nice and a good time was had by all.

All my christmas shopping is done we went out today 10:15am and got home 18:45 and only sat down for lunch about 30mins my arms have streched with the weight of all the bags LOL but really enjoyed it, its the first year i have gone out and got all presents in one go i think we are doing the same next year, i then spent hours wrapping everything and its all sitting neatly under the tree.

Someone told me
"its what happend between New Year and Xmas that matters not what happend between Xmas and New Year"
Very wise and i am going to keep that in mind
We are going food shopping on Monday for all the christmas goodies so we only have to go out for the veg on Christmas eve i cant wait im like a big kid getting quite excited

I am thinking if i maintain my weight over the Xmas period i will be happy, the slimming group consultant was telling us that in one of her classes there is a person who puts on 14lb every christmas and then looses it in the 2 weeks after as they just enjoy themselves, i dont think i have the dedication to do that if i put on more than 3lb i think i will be disapointed but 14lb is a lot!!!

Hi Sarah

I am pleased that you enjoyed your party.

You sound so much more organised than me regarding Christmas.

I like the quote about it being what happens between New Year and Christmas that counts. I will remember that.

I agree with you about maintenance.

I am going to try hard to continue my project and would like to lose weight over the holidays - but I know how much I am being tempted. I have pretty much drawn a line in the sand that says that a lot of skinny people put on weight over Christmas. If I put on weight but manage to get to 2nd January and do not weigh more than I weighed on 1st December I should consider that a major success. We should not impose unrealistic expectations on ourselves. This disappointment if we fall short can damage our long term project.

Take care

HIYA
WOW time is just flying by I am soooo busy at the mo!!!

Well scales were a little disapointing i maintained...but its better than gaining.
I had a sneaky weigh on my scales just then and its showing a 1.5lb loss so fingers crossed christmas wont be a total disaster!!!!

Been to the park walking the dog this morning for an hour and i ran tiny bits with the dog as well but had to keep stopping my combats kept falling down!!!!
I have already had to find a belt for my jeans (which used to fit but just fall right off if i walk anywhere quick!!!!) and the belt is now being used 2 sizes smaller than when i last wore it, im so happy I was getting a bit down thinking you couldnt tell i had lost weight but now im all happy again LOL

Well im going to catch up then finish wraping presents while hubby is at the football match

Sarah

Hi! Just thought I'd say hello. I've been looking at your diary and I can see that you've had a touch-and-go time. Well done for getting back on track. It's not easy to stay focused (I know - I'm having a hard time at the moment!!!)
See you around :seeya:
