Rachie's Diary

Weigh in day  no change in my weight (still 132.5lbs) but I generally increase a bit right before Aunt flow visits and she's due today/tomorrow. So not terrible but up from Thursday's 131.5lbs and no weight lost on my official weigh in day. Now I just have to work hard over the next few days so the weight starts going again :)

Must keep exercising and eating right... I'll get there in the end... still have about 2 months left till my goal date. Something tells me I won't make my original goal of 120lbs but then 12.5lbs in two months would be quite astounding - for me anyway! I am hoping to make it to 126lbs which is when I have said I will reassess. It's kind of depressing to see no change in the scales. I know I shouldn't rely on them, especially not at this time of the month but it's always nice to see movement on the scale. I have to remember that 2 years ago I was 16.5lbs heavier and very unfit so I have come a long way. I started 2007 at 139lbs so I am down 6.5lbs since then. More positives, my clothes fit better and I am getting better at running. I just need to keep working hard at it. I was looking online at a half-marathon that takes place in the fall. I want to get through this 10k first but I think it would be a good goal and I have just under 7 months to train. I'll wait until the 10k to make my decision though I think :)

way to go on the positives... :) nicely done...

have you taken your measurements - from the beginning and now - just to see thoe changes - that'd be more telling of how far you've come rather than the number on the scale :)

just a quick post will do more later but Mal, I did keep records of measurements from about 146lbs and just measured and I have lost 11.5" :D

holy crap young lady -that's awesome :)

Rachie - that is FANTASTIC!!

And good job on scoring up the positives!
:)

Thanks ladies :D I am very pleased!

I have a bit more time to jot down some numbers now... so these losses are from Feb 2005 when I had just started losing weight the first time  I lost 16lbs that year and have gone up and down since but started 2007 at 139lbs although I think I was 138lbs when I joined WLF.

Inches lost:
Neck 1"
Chest 0.5" - always the last to go!
Waist 2.5"
Abdomen 2"
Hips 1.5"
Thigh 2.5"
Knee 0.5"
Arm 1"

Waist and Abdomen is still where I am carrying pretty much all my excess weight. But I am glad you mentioned measuring. I had just seen M2M and TomO talking about measurements too Mal. I am jotting down all my weights today - actually I am adding them to mybodycomp.com - I had started adding measurements on there but had completely forgotten about it  Okay, now I feel a whole lot more positive :D

And you have every reason to feel more positive!
Those are some excellent numbers :) Good Work!

Keep it up, Rachie! The scale will move down after the period...I'm waiting for mine to be over so I can see the numbers drop...
Congradulations on the weight loss!! And inches!

Whoohoo! 11.5" gone. That's a serious accomplishment! Nice job, girl. You're doing so great.

Thank you :) It's been a long road but will be worth it when I see the magic numbers and I am healthier and happier. :D

Thanks CG, I am hoping to see that scale drop after the period. Hope you see the same - I am sure you will! It's not the only measure but it sure is a nice one to see :)

Weird. I just updated my "progress" in the weight loss table here and looked at my graph of weight loss per week since I joined. I noticed that the first week I lost nothing, then lost 2.5lbs over several weeks, then nothing for one week, then I lost 2.5lbs over a couple of weeks and nothing this week... seems like a pattern is forming.... how odd

Mini-plateaus?? My weight is WACKY. I'm just waiting for my weight to start dropping....tick tock tick tock ;)

Rachie, you are doing great! I know how frustrating it is when the scale doesn't move, believe me! But that's why I measure LOTS of other things. If you do all the right stuff nutrition and exercise-wise, and measure about 20 different things, at least ONE of them will look good every time you check! But if you ONLY keep track of the scale, you're bound to be disappointed at least half the time, and if you're like me, about 28 days out of 30.

Well said, TomO.
It's funny that your weight does that little intermittent plateau thing. But the main thing is that those 2.5 lbs do eventually come off, so don't sweat it. ;)

Thank you Curvie, Tom and SunnyDee, I know you are all right. We all have these mini-plateaus and larger plateaus. I think the measuring thing was quite a surprise for me. I knew to keep measurements but became pretty reliant on the scale for a while. It's definitely good to find other ways of measuring progress :)

Ran 2 miles in under 18 minutes today but it was hard!! I hate the treadmill! I am really trying to leave work early today to go for a slow, long run. I need one so badly!! I also worked on the bicycle and the elliptical and probably hit about 350 cals with the walk to the gym and back included :) Not bad for me! But it just made me want to run more tonight!!!

I ate out last night and had a fried oyster sandwich - there were like 3 lightly fried (As light as frying gets anway :))oysters in a small sandwich though and I chose a side of braised greens instead of fries :) It was good!
