Rachie's Diary

Congrats! Nice with the workout--
I absolutely LOATHE the treadmill and this morning I took a 45 minute run at the crack of dawn along the beach and through the harbor and around a meadow and back again.
Glad you enjoyed that fried oyster sandwich--it sounds good to me!

*noises of dragging diary from page 3, nearly page 4*

well, it's morning. It's Wednesday. I really don't want to be at work today! :(
I was here till late AGAIN last night so no long run for me :( I did make it to the gym this morning though and had another really good run. I have been slowly increasing my top speed. Very slowly because I don't want to break my damn foot again! My 10k race is next weekend (March 31st) and I don't feel ready!!! Work got so busy and my runs got a bit of a back seat. I know that I can finish it but I don't just want to finish it. I want to be sure that I beat my time from the last time I did it. God I am a whiney brat.

Anyway, today I am finishing work early if it kills me. I have a mountain of laundry and housework to keep me calorie burning. I also want to go to bed early but Lost is on darn it. Oh and I missed last week's episode so have to download and watch before tonight's installment!

I have decided that the weekend will be as little work as possible. I can't get away with doing NO work but an hour or so on one of the days will just about tide me over :)

I am weighing in for the March challenge tomorrow but it's going to be up. Beyond that I am hiding the scales and waiting till Monday because it'll just make me mad!!!

"runs" and "back seat" used in the same sentence sounds wrong in the post above but I am amused and am not going to change it :) Maybe it's just amusing me but that's fine :)

Hee hee!

You'll do great on your race!!! You make me envious--I wanna race again (I did one 5K and got 23:07). Yes, health is more important than work (in a way)--good luck this weekend!!

i can't wait until i am fast enough to do things like that (races & marathons)! or just able to do things like that, period.

i am a very slow runner, but time will make me better! right?! :D

YES. When I was young, I could barely do a ten minute mile. But still, I don't know if I could ever do a six minute mile--let alone for more than 1 mile! Like the winners at most races--the women tend to be about 26 and thin, with ridiculous times for 10Ks and such. I ran that 5K as hard as I could and I averaged as 7:42 mile :(

7:42 DOES NOT deserve a sad face!!!!

that is awesome!!! :D

my 10:30 deserves the sad face! haha!

but i'm hoping the more i work at it that it will eventually go down!

We girls just all should be proud for even running in the first place--it burn the most calories and is great for our hearts! If we keep it up we'll all get more eficient than when we started--I know it's taken me years and years to get where I'm at now!

I can't run for the life of me. I've tried a few times, but after doing it one day, my chest is sore for 2 days and my legs are sore for 3. hahaha I'm such a loser when it comes to running/jogging. The strange thing is that I can do power walking just fine. Oh well, I'm sure the last of your weight will come off soon! Just keep your head up, you're doing a great job!

x
Monica

Good luck with your race. Sorry to hear that work is cramping your style. Haha It's such a pain in the arse, isn't it? I'm sure you'll do just great with your race though. You've still been getting your runs in.

I giggled out loud when I read your comment about "runs" and "back seat" being in the same sentence. Oh my, I really do feel like a frat boy today, laughing at farts in one diary and diarrhea in another.

Hello ladies! I have been away from the diary for what seems like days and in reality was yesterday... I was having withdrawals though!! ;) Anyway, aunt flow finally appeared yesterday and I am about the same weight today 132.5lbs so not terrible but I have been eating lots and lots of carbs!!! I lifted some weights and did a bit of cardio at the gym this morning. Got to get my long run in at the weekend so am letting the running decrease a bit at the end of the week :)

Curvie Girlie - 23.07 is a fab time! I was working on building up my speed before I injured my foot last year. My best race time was like 29 mins which is not wonderful but I was happy :) I can probably do a few minutes faster than that but 23 would be my dream time!! The race is 31st March so I have this weekend to train a bit more and will be drinking lots of water and staying hydrated next week. I think the day of the race is going to be REALLY hot and humid - yuck!!!

Daiseeangel time will definitely make you better :) 10.30 is not bad at all - that's pretty good actually! I have a bunch of friends who go to the gym with me and we are all between 29 and 35 minutes for 5k's. There are lots of races around here but it's more like a fun-run for folks like me :) I like challenging myself to do these things and most, if not all, raise money for charity which is very cool.

I was fast when I was in high school, they used to race the girls and boys middle-distance at the same time and I often technically placed in the guys race as well as the girls :D But those days are gone and I am a slower runner now!!

And yes!!! I agree 110% Curvie Girlie, we should be proud of running, exercising, eating right, looking after our health! Just doing one of the above is something to be proud of :)

Monikuddle if you want to run I am sure you'll get there in no time. I find power walking really hard!! The running will be easier as time goes on. I used to get worn out quickly and would do a bit of jogging and some walking and built from there. I still have a long way to go but the difference is huge for me!

Hi Sunnydee, work is cramping my style but I do feel better when I get lots done. I am a bit of a workaholic in all honesty but sometimes I would like to run more in the evenings! I know I am a frat boy/12 year old about silly things too :)

Hope everyone is having a great day! I'll try to be in here more often because I like chatting with you all and it's great to keep me motivated. Thank you all because it was really lovely to come back to my diary and find a whole conversation and all these visitors to catch up with :D

hey rachie baby you running machine hope you are having a fabbity day. what are you doing with your calorie intake nowadays?

Hi Sophie :) My calories are varied. I don't stick to a rigid pattern like the calorie cycling anymore but I allow myself to go up and down around 1500. I try not to go more than a few hundred cals around that point though.

rachie

Thanks for stopping by my diary. I was just marvelling at being 188 for two days in a row and was writing at the same time as you. Have a great day and keep up the awesome work.

Good for you for being a lifelong runner! I had a hard time running in my youth due to juvenile asthma. And in high school I was too busy "sellin' dope and drinkin'" (E-40) to exercise. Look at me now! I'M IN THE BEST (cardiovascular) SHAPE OF MY LIFE! We should all promise to keep up our healthy living for the rest of our lives....it sure feels better than any other way of living! :)

You're so right, Curvie Girlie! I'm all for making that lifelong promise. :) We deserve to be proud of ourselves for choosing a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes I look at skinny girls and think "Ok, you might be skinnier than me, but I'd challenge you to 30 mins on the treadmill anyday, slacker!" When it all boils down, we'll have healthier, happier lives than most of the people around us because we're putting an active effort into being in good shape. And good shape does not just mean small clothing sizes.
You'll do great on your race day, Rachie. Just wait and see! I'll be rooting for you to beat your time!

Thanks for stopping by guys :)
I hit the gym again this morning. My muscles were tired from lifting weights yesterday but in a good way! I spent a good amount of today's time on the elliptical and burned 400 calories according to the machine :) Either tomorrow or Sunday will be my practice 10k for next weekend. I have rested my legs from running for the last day or so so they should be ready! yes!

That's awesome, I'm so glad you're doing that 10K...it makes me want to do one soon. And kudos for bearing the weights--the results are really worth the effort!

Have you noticed your body getting more toned? (hopefully)?

Afternoon and congrats on reaching the 130's :) You must be feeling great!

You should do a 10k - you run and are fast and can run 10k! I insist you run a 10k, right now! haha, seriously though you should find a local one :D I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather isn't too hot for that day, I like cool days for running :)

My body is definitely getting more toned. My belly which is my problem area is kinda bloated right now but I have been noticing that I am a lot more toned recently. I could crack walnuts between my butt checks - no just kidding... I tried though... kidding....again.... !! haha. My arms and shoulders are not small but they are strong and I notice my lower back is beginning to get toned which I think is a good indicator that my love handles might be shrinking a bit! It's nice to notice difference. I am hoping that next week I'll see another drop. Since aunt flow last visited my 5-day average went down all but on 4 occasions when it plateaued and 3 days previous to my period when it slowly went up to where it is now. So... I am ready to kick it up a notch and push into the 120's!!
