Qjay's thread

That food sounds rushed but ... gooood!!

It is excellent that you are starting to notice a heap of results for your efforts so far.

WOOHOO!!
:D Congratulations on the 54 inches!!:D

Thank you so much for your support Qjay. It has been such a help to me. For a self described pessimist you do an amazing job of spreading optimism!! :)

Hi!

Today was a kind of rushed set of meals:
2 Sandwiches (850)
Bean Threads and Veggies with Chicken (750)
and if I get hungry before I sleep, I'm having some grapes.
Not much time for food, but it has been a good time so far.

What, pray tell, are bean threads?

It really sounds like you are on the right track! I really like pancakes and stuff too, and I have found a good way of making them healthy. I found some really yummy whole wheat pancake mix, and I just use some vanilla yogurt on top. compared to syrup, the serving size is alot bigger, but it doesn't soak into the pancakes like syrup so you wont use as much anyways. If you compare the nurtritional information with the two, you will see that there are less carbs, fat, calories, and sugar in the yogurt, and more protein. It works for me, so I thought I would pass it along. Keep it up! :)

Wow, a lot of people dropped by! :D
Thanks for the nice thoughts, folks, I do appreciate it and it does help.
Felici, I am working hard on my pessimistic attitude, but generally speaking, I don't feel good or happy very often, and seem to need to pressure myself a lot in order to get things done. My self-talk is almost all negative, and I feel stupid if I ever try to pat myself on the back for a job well done, because you can't give YOURSELF recognition, it just doesn't count. This forum has really done a lot to help give me tools to work on my attitude, and it is one of the reasons I try to stay positive while I am here.

Manaloa, bean threads are white noodles that turn clear when you cook them, they are made from Mung Bean starch. The first place I had them was in the best Thai restaurant in the world (It's just down the road from my house, lucky me), but I have to go to a local asian supermarket to find them. They aren't in any of the smaller asian stores in the area, but they are still cheap :) I found a nice, inexpensive version of them, for slightly more than the cost of instant noodles, so I am really thrilled about it.

Britta Bear, thanks for the thought about yogurt, I hadn't thought about it that way, before. I will put peanut butter on pancakes and waffles, sometimes, but I generally just reach for the sugar free syrup these days. I have used yogurt to sub for milk with cereal, topped salads with it, use it instead of sour cream, etc, etc.
I'm thinking about getting some cheese cloth to "hang" the yogurt and get a lot of the liquid out; it can be used as a substitute for cream cheese at that point. Sounds tasty to me ;)

Food so far today:
4 breakfast taquitos (600)
1 cup hot cereal with lots of milk (500)
A few grapes (50) I had to bail on the grapes, I ate one that tasted moldy, so it HAD to be inside the grape, I am really careful about what I put in my mouth, I HATE fruit when it's gone bad. I pitched the last couple of pounds, and am going to buy them more carefully now. The bad part is I am now out of fruit.

More to do and more to eat, but later. I'm probably going to have another monstrous turkey sandwich, and might have some milk in my coffee, it's a cram session weekend for me.

Thanks again for thinking the happy thoughts for me! :)

The cheese cloth is good too! I made this awesome maple sweet potato dish for xmas. We used plain yogurt and used the cheese cloth, and mixed it, the maple syrup and sweet potatoes. It was really good. Yogurt is soo good on alot of stuff! hehe hope the rest of your weekend is great!

Qjay - "you can't give YOURSELF recognition, it just doesn't count"

No worries. While you're working on that one I will just write my recognition a bit bigger to make up. :D Like this.

:D Congratulations :D
:D on the 54 inches
!! :D

BTW. Congratulations on how positively you have contributed to this forum despite your leanings to the contrary.

Britta, I like your ideas of how to use yogurt, I'm definitely going to try that. I also like Greek Food, so I am looking at how to make some of their yogurt based recipes.

Darn it Felici, now you're just trying to make me blush.

So, food for the day so far:
Taquitos (600)
Hot cereal with milk (500)
Grapes (50)
Coffee w/ milk (150)
Salmon salad (500)

1800 calories so far, which isn't bad. I'm still kinda ticked about having to trash those grapes, too. I guess I'll have to triple check them when I buy, and avoid the ones that are perfectly ripe or over-ripe.

Gah, I'm so tired of school, but it's so close to over... then I can start wishing I was back in school. :p

Warmest congratulations Qjay on the new waistline.

I like the tip in your signature as well, is that new, or have I been blind before?

I do try to look at it that there are 21 meals in a week, one bad one, and there are still 20 good ones to balance it with.

It's pretty new, I changed it just a few days ago. My last Tip was about averaging out your weigh-ins to get a better idea of your "real" weight.

Low food, but it has been a short "day" to eat in. Yesterday ran well into the morning, so I slept a few hours and got back to work, but I am calling it a night now.

Today's food:
Sandwich (400)
1 cup hot cereal (340)
1 cup milk (100)
1 tbsp honey (60)
Cream in my coffee (100)

It's only 1000 calories, but I have had zero exercise, so I'm not going to consider myself "underfed" for a short day like this. Time for me to get some sleep. ;)

Hi Qjay! It looks like you managed yesterday in a way that suits you. I hope you have a good day. :)

Thanks, everyone!
Yeah, it has been busy, and it still is (I'm working on a late project today! ) but I got some sleep and can think again. I'm going out for breakfast, though. I just need to get out of the house, dangit!

All righty, see you later!

ooh get you eh! going out for breakfast? didnt know you could do such a thing...

ttys i hope x

helping me

Hey QJay all your good advice helped me at 4 today when I thought I needed a snack. Turned out I was hungry for more and I ate my meal carefully until I was satisfied. Am learning much more from you than just counting calories. I sure do appreciate the writing you do in my and others' diaries.

How was breakfast? ;) Popping in to say Hi, I'll have to do some back reading here looks like I've missed a bit! I might need some of your recipes, I'm a horrible cook!

Thanks for all your support :) and sounds like your doing great, keep it up :)
