Put ur hands up slowly, & step away from the cupcake!!!

Hiya Sugarplump :) Got your msg, YAY you can send them now, lol. Sounds like you're day was completely hectic. I know mine was at work....and dang if I wasn't hungry all day. I managed to keep my calories in line but I was really crabby, lol. Well didn't help I'm tired too but tomorrow will be better :) Well I'm exhausted after a 10 hour shift, accompanied by over an hour driving in commute so I'm going to go pick up my husband from his job and hopefully come home and get some sleep. I'll swing by tomorrow to bug and see how you're day turned out. ~Lisa

Hello!

douknowjello - omg I bet you would be tired after all that! Good for you for sticking with your calorie plan even if you were crabby ;) I see on your wlticker that you've lost some weight! Yayyyeeeeee :) Way to go!!! So I hope you got some sleep and you're all rested for another day :)

I don't know what it was but last night I kept on waking up! I was having some seriously crazy dreams lol so maybe that had something to do with it.. Yesterday went well, it wasn't as hectic as I thought it was going to be.
Ok, so confession time lol. I didn't just have some veggies... There were big paper plates and little ones, and I chose the little one. I loaded it up with veggies, as well as a little bit of guacamole (homemade) a few tortillia chips, and 1 cookie. Sooooooo....I didn't exactly just have veggies lol So that was that. I had a little cry cause it was the last time I will see my sister until August, had a hug and trucked off to my in-laws. It was super easy to stay on track there being that they are VERY health concious. My father in law had a heart attack about 10 years ago or so and since then he really watches what he eats. So we had Salmon (yum) fresh veggies w/ low cal dip, I had probably about 1/2 cup of potato salad, and finished with a sliver of birthday cake as planned. Phew! Got through the day without going too crazy :)

I've been thinking more and more about going on a more structured meal plan...anyone have any suggestions? I was contemplating calorie counting or Weight Watchers...? I don't know...both are a pain in the ass cause of all the tracking. This is where I get stuck...I have a hard time deciding on anything. If you don't want to put suggestions on this post, feel free to PM me :)

Ugh----time to do laundry :p lol

I will share my experience re calorie counting. For the first 10 months or so of my diet, I did not count calories. I concentrated on switching out processed foods (almost my whole diet at the beginning) for whole food home-cooked meals (almost my whole diet now). The weight loss was slow, about 1 pound per month, but I felt I needed that time to get my body used to a different way of eating without stressing too much about the calories.

When I joined this forum a year ago, the online calorie counter was recommended to me. I have used it ever since. It took some getting used to, but now it takes only about 5 to 10 minutes a day to log my calories. After I started tracking my food, my weight loss speeded up.

So I guess my advice is, a person can lose weight and get healthy with or without calorie counting. Maybe you could try both ways and see what works best for you?

COOL - Thanks for the advice! I took a look at the FitDay website....looks like it makes it pretty easy for calorie counting and tracking! I signed up at this site, and I also busted out all my WW cookbooks. I think with the combination of using this website, FitDay, and WW meals/recipes, I am headed down a better path! Yeah it will take more work then just winging it, but having a plan and a goal to work towards feels so much better!!! :) Thanks guys! :)

calorie counting everything

Hi,

A vegetarian / high fiber diet combined with realllllllyyy paying attention to calorie intake has allowed me to drop 30lbs in a little over two months. Surprisingly, I haven't felt like I'm denying myself anything on this diet as I can still eat filling and tasty meals but, with relatively few calories involved. Seriously, a vege diet is the whip, not to mention it is is green. However, a good diet will only take you so far as this game is largely in your head. You have to find a lifestyle that is both healthy AND enjoyable. I wouldn't have been able to stick to my diet for over 3 months now if I didn't enjoy it.

Anyway, believe in yourself, accept that some days will not go according to plan and rededicate yourself the next day. You must believe that you can achieve your goal before you really have a shot at attaining it. I know you can do it.

Thanks for the encouragement :) Good on ya for being able to stick to a vege diet! I go through spurts where I want to become vegetarian. Though it's usually due to my watching some 'save the animals' type video that my animal rights activist friends send me :p I think I lasted about 1 month before I caved. lol I think I love meat too much ;) I'm really glad that it's working for you though!! :) You are right about much of it being in my head. I am very much so an emotional eater! Thank you so much for the encouragement :) I'm feeling pretty positive about losing weight this time around :)

Today has been pretty good so far. I made some honey bran muffins, with a few raisins, for my hubby and I. Yum! Bryan did the grocery shopping for me and picked up a sandwich for lunch for me. Just a 6" with loads of veggies/meat/cheese. Fresh, and damn good. :)

A friend of mine came over this morning with her 3 munchkins who happen to be freakin adorable. They all look like the little hobbit children from Lord Of The Rings! Seriously! Oh yeah, today for the first time EVER, I had a baby spit up on me. omg. I really thought I was going to hurl on myself and this poor kid. LOL Apparently I'm a wuss..hahaha.

Anyway, fun times with the kids, I think I must have burned about a bajillion calories running around after the 2 toddlers. The only bummer was when I was asked about when I was going to have a baby...I just stuck with the normal response "it'll happen when the time is right", and of course that ended that conversation pretty quick. She is a bigger girl as well, but all her husband has to do is look at her and she gets pregnant lol. All 3 of her kids were 'oops' babies. So, she seems to have a hard time with understanding why I can't just pop kids out like her lol. Waaaaa...not fair. Okokok I'm done pouting :nopity:

I have planned out dinner - making homemade low calorie lasagne...seriously! Thought I would challenge myself today ;) I have issues with cooking, have I mentioned that? LOL Somehow, I manage to mess up something. So *fingers crossed* that all goes well with dinner tonight!

XO

So how'd your lasagna turn out? :D Sorry I haven't stopped by in a bit. I read your journal and the posts in mine but every time I started to reply the last few days I got interrupted and didn't make it back here. I saw the replies about using fitday and I use it too, forgot to mention that. It's great because if a food isn't in there, you can look it up and put it in yourself and then go back to it any time to pop it in your log.

I'm trying to keep the fast food to a minimum but on Sundays we usually take the girls out somewhere and you can find just about any restaurant calories online these days, then plug it into fit day. I haven't done it yet but I'm going to print out a bunch of the places they go and make a little book so I don't get stuck eating the same old stuff just because I know the calories. Loved your idea about putting a snack list on the fridge with amounts and calories.

I think thats my biggest problem with this, is sooner or later my lack of organization and pre-planning catches up to me and I end up eating the same stuff. Then the first time life gets a bit crazy its all out the window. But I'm working on it :) I'm planning on doing some freezer cooking soon.

Anyway sorry I'm off rambling in your journal :) Hope you're have a good day and I'll swing by tomorrow to give you a gratz on your weigh in, cuz with all that hard work I'm sure it'll show up.

Oh one last thought, Sparkpeople has free menu plans that remind me alot of "Ediets" but sparkpeople's are free. I don't use them because alot of the stuff each day isn't my cup of tea but browse the menus for ideas to spice up my routine.

Bleh, this site is makin me mad. It won't let me give you any rep! Says I have to spread some around first.....but I HAVE. Plus I never gave you any rep today....it's a conspiracy I tell ya! lmao

I've found tracking what I eat really really useful - not because its one system (calories over WW), but because it MAKES ME ACCOUNTABLE for everything that goes in my mouth. All the stuff that are the forgotten calories - the little bite of somethign or the glass of juice, or in my case it used to be the 2-3 lattes a day during business meetings in Starbucks...and you'd go home and say oooh I've been good today, I've had a salad for lunch but why on earth aren't I losing any weight>?!?! Like DOH!!!

So, no matter how you count it....write it ALL down and you'll be suprised at the start what you forget that you've eaten/drunk through out the day - it really makes you question whether you want something or not.

Thanks guys for all the ideas :)

I have definitely noticed that since I started tracking calories on FitDay I am waaaaaaaaay more conscious of what I'm eating! I totally kept on catching myself forgetting little things here and there that I was forgetting...like condiments on sandwiches lol. This is the first time in a long time that I have felt like I just might actually win this battle!! I am actually finding calorie counting so fun on fitday. lol I know, Ima geek lol ;)

I have a really hard time trying to plan out my meals, and actually sticking with it. Freezer meals are the best...Makes it so much easier for those nights that I am really not into cooking anything. ;) Oooohhh The lasagna I made the other day was friggin so good :)

Lisa - don't worry about not replying to my posts quickly...life happens! :)

Today I kinda feel like I'm in a daze. I didn't sleep very good again last night and I get so irritated when I don't sleep well! I had a bit of an argument with Bryan today, so that sucked. We were trying to figure out what we were going to do for our fathers on Father's Day this Sunday. Unfortunately our parents don't really care for each other's company. They can be civil with each other, but you could cut the tension with a knife...Sounds like fun huh? Ya not really. So I told Bryan that I wasn't interested in forcing our parents to get together, it would be no fun for anyone. He thinks that we should keep trying to get them all in the same room in hopes that they might start liking each other.
:banghead:
OK, so we have been trying to put them together in social situations for the last 3 years. I reminded him about this. I am so tired of feeling so uncomfortable with our families and I'm REALLY tired of treating our parents like toddlers - trying to get everyone to get along. It's so stupid! A clash of personalities is all it is. Anyway, we have figured things out and we're just going to keep things separate. urgh!

So I bought the carman electra strip arobics DVD... gonna try that out today. Should be good for a SERIOUS laugh! It was suggested to me a few weeks ago and I previewed a bit of the dvd last night. It looks kinda..well pretty dumb but at the same time Intriguing, so whatever...I'm going to give it a try! lol If it sucks I'm going to use Wii fit for an indoor workout today. :)

Well I certainly hope everyone else here is having a good day counting calories and all that jazz. ttys!

aww man, i was hoping it was good. I have one of cher's old VHS aerobic tapes....it was just a bunch of chicks in black lingerie....but you can see her butterfly tattoo, one wing on each butt, crack in the middle so I thought it was funny :) I actually used to do the video too but I'd hurt myself now. Walmart online has the whole Richard Simmons sweatin to to the oldies set, 4 or 5 for 27 bucks when it's over 40 everywhere else. I really want it cuz I know his videos always have the modifications for people my size, but I really shouldn't spend the money right now so I haven't gotten it.

I know you have a lot of weight to lose, but don't think about the amount. I have 245 pounds too lose but I don't think about that much - rather I think about "just lose 5 pounds" then when I lose five pounds I think "Just lose five more pounds", and so and and so on. I just need to lose five pounds... 49 times. I just keep looking at it like five pounds at a time so that it's not overwhelming. I've lost 22 pounds in 7 weeks and that's the most I've ever lost. In the past when I thought - "Oh man, I have over 200 pounds to lose, I'll never get there." and that derailed me every single time. The huge numbers always made me think that I'll never reach my goal. But concentrating on only losing five pounds is what is taking the pounds off and (so far) is keeping me on track.

I agree Stacy. I've been losing weight by trying not to think of it as a diet with a beginning and end but as a permanent lifestyle change in the way I eat and exercise in order to get healthy and fit, and losing weight is a 'side effect' of this. Week by week I'm celebrating the weight loss. Now that I am getting so close I'm starting to focus more on the end weight loss. :)

I saw you post about the richard simmons set and I want to get those too! I too have to save some money and make some room on my visa so I can order it lol. LOL I had no idea that cher has a butterfly tattoo on her butt! hahahaha! omg you should have seen me last night trying to keep up with this dvd...absolutely hilarious! maybe it will be more fun when I've lost a bit of weight! ;)

I have about 180lbs to lose - and I definitely agree Stacy...It's much more motivating take it week by week and having small goals of 5lbs. The last time I lost a bunch of weight I motivated myself by buying myself a little treat - not food - but like a CD or a DVD or something, every time I reached a loss of 10lbs. I love shopping lol so it really kept me going! Thank you for Sharing your thoughts guys, I really appreciate it! :)

I definitely have been working on the way I think about everything in regards to weight loss. It's so much better thinking of it as a lifestyle change and not a diet. As douknowjello said, it puts an end to the constant power struggle with food. :)

Hi there!!! :D!!

I just wanted to say ...I love the NAME of your journal!! ...as I devoured a RED VELVET CUPCAKE yesterday! Could have used this line....;)! Hope you are doing well!

Hey Alta! Thanks! omg cupcakes make me weak in the knees ;) j/k lol They are my weakness though! Thanks for stopping in to say hi & you can steal my title anytime you want lol

So ummmm....I had my weigh in....

I have come to the conclusion the my parents scale is eff'd. FML. lol. I weighed myself, and I don't know why but I weighed myself again. Eventually I got to the point where I had weighed myself about 10 times...and got 10 completely different results with a difference of 4lbs each time. So I just went with the one that looked reasonable. When I get home maybe I will weigh myself on the Wii again and change my weight loss ticker thingy to what it says. Even if it does say that I am heavier then what my parents scale said *eyebrows furrowed* *pout* :p

I also realized that I only started counting calories on the 15th. LOL So, for 3 days - I think 2lbs is just fine! I also took my measurements last friday and put them on fitday.com and here are the results:

Chest: -1.5"
Waist: -3"
Hips: -2"
Thigh: -1"

Soooo...yeah I can honestly say though that over the last week I have noticed a huge change in my mood, energy, in my clothes a bit, and I'm totally psyched to keep going! :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Toodles!
