My lovelies! Oh, how I have neglected you! :grouphug: I'm back now! As Derrick said, life has been busy and I've just not had the time.

Updates for me!

1. We've had house-guests on and off for the last 3 weeks. It's meant lots of late nights and lots of cleaning and lots of feeling like I have to "entertain". I hate having guests. I like a quiet life at home!

2. Work is insane. Summer holidays have hit and I'm working between 60-70 hours a week, including two nights a week which has fucked with my sleeping something awful.

3. Work is also incredibly stressful. I've found out I'm not an emotional eater though--I just get very lethargic and don't want to do anything but sleep when I'm sad, but have not been reaching for food!

4. I've managed to avoid putting on any weight and have actually lost 3lb in the last 10 days. Working so much means I have no time to snack and am usually just grabbing some fruit from the house in the morning as can't take big meals with me!!

Luckily my friends leave tomorrow, so I get blissful peace! Me and Yank have decided (when I get paid tomorrow) that we are doing a week of only fresh foods. Fresh pasta, make my own sauce, fresh veg, fruit, meat and ingredients. Nothing I make will be in a tin or frozen! The good thing about working so much is that I have quite a bit of money (for me, anyway!) at the moment so although buying fresh is more expensive, I'm hoping it'll be a fun way to learn to cook new meals and something me and Yank can do together.

Will let you guys know what recipes I come up with! Also--NO CHEESE FOR A WEEK!

My new favourite dish has been half a cup of pasta with chicken stock/gravy. It sounds VILE but the pasta isn't many calories and the stock is barely any and I don't add any salt. Much better than using red sauce and half a ton of cheese! Delllllicious!

I've not made it to the gym in over a month. I'm working approx 10-13 hours a day and simply don't have the time. Excuses, excuses. But, my work does mean that I'm walking between 3-8 miles a day depending on my shift. I feel pretty healthy! :hurray:

Ouch, those hours sound horrendous!! Worst I've done was 50 and that nearly killed me!
At least you've got money to show for it though :)

I hope all this gruelling labour is going to be worth it. Is it by choice you are killing yourself? if it were me, i would have been taken out on a stretcher weeks ago. I can't work that hard any more. Although, my cycling journey had me on the go from the beginning of the day to the very end and then i'd crash for at least 10 hours sleep for quite a number of days at a stretch. But that's differnt isn't it.

Anyway it will be good when you can get back here with us and tell us more about the fresh foods you are cooking and stuff.

Hey my beauties, nice to see the faces I know and love still posting! Was worried I'd come back and you'd all have left! Had a day or so off (night shift tonight) so have been busy tidying the flat and sorting out recipes for the week!

My shop arrives tomorrow and it is ALL fresh. Spent £50 which is a lot for me and Yank (usually living on £1 pizzas and jacket potatoes!!) but I've brought things like mushrooms, fresh chicken and chicken stock, fresh herbs and pasta. I'm making a chicken and mushroom risotto for me and 3 others tomorrow night so will be making a healthy version with less butter and chicken and more veggies! :hurray:

Exercise wise, it's been slow. Me and Conor went to a tiger sanctuary on friday so were walking around for about 4 hours which would have done me some good! Am very excited to be having a week of fresh recipes. Would welcome chicken/mince recipes to have with fresh pasta or rice and veg if anyone has a simple one for me!!

We make a spicy chicken thingy..
Basically consists of chicken cooked with some chilli powder, onions, and diced peppers, then mixed up with wholemeal rice.
Obviously you can add more veggies to it, pretty much any, mushrooms would probably work well. You can also subsitute chilli powder for any flavouring, been know to use bbq before now lol.

So I'm bored on my night shift! Thought I'd share one of my drunken stories that happened at the weekend since Rox isnt around to post any of her sexy ones for me! Think you were right not to go with the first person who came along. I think the gae gap could be awkward. Yeah, we met on a BDSM site so no strangers to the weird and wonderful world of kink! It's all so boring though :( I need sugar and carbs to keep me awake. Stupid, horrible fruit. *cries* I've crisps though, just had a string cheese and diet coke! My night shifts only involve doing like 2 things so the rest of the time I just sit on my computer which leads to massssive boredom eating. Doooooom! DOOOOOOM!

I second the loving hearing about those kinds of things. If it were me I would've found it a big self-esteem boost- I hope you enjoyed it even though it didn't go anywhere. (and I love that you have the confidence to share your kinks semi-publically, even if semi-anonymously- I sure as hell don't!)

I try to help my boyfriend through night shifts, and what I usually do is pack him a dinner (or two, his is a 12 hour shift) which is calorie controlled (either with a frozen microwaveable rice portion- can get them from Tesco- or for him to buy rice/ jacket potato from the work canteen), several serves of fruit, some Pepsi (I can't get him to go diet/ Max, but I would if I could), caffeine tablets, and some sort of dessert (calorie and/ or portion controlled- a weight watchers dessert, a low calorie cheat, or a very small bit of chocolate).

Do you have access to a microwave where you could make one of my fruit desserts (and possibly also a fridge- put low fat yoghurt on top or something)? I know it's not a "proper" dessert, but it's a lot more interesting than just fruit, as the microwaving makes the flavours more intense. You could chop up the fruit in advance and take it in a freezer bag/ tupperware container, or buy it pre-chopped (from frozen or fresh).

I also find that really strong menthol mint gum helps to keep me awake when I'm pulling all-nighters (not the same, but a related phenomenon). That's pretty good calorie wise.
 
Thanks for the suggestions my lovelies--I don't have a fridge or a microwave (seriously, I have a chair. That's it. We even have to pay for access to the electricity now! Madness) Vegetable crisps are a good idea. I like salty stuff. I started off taking the caffeine pills but I crash pretty hard on those or have trouble sleeping when I get home so now I just have 2 litres of diet coke and that gets me through the night!

Sometimes I take cold pasta dishes but I prefer to have lots of little snacks rather than a "dinner" sized meal if that makes sense. I don't think it makes too much difference to my calories to be honest. I have lunch, skip dinner and eat through-out the night and then skip breakfast and lunch the next day whilst I sleep so the meals I miss allow me to eat quite a few calories on a night shift! I'll look into packing fresh fruits and stuff, it's just not as nice luke-warm!
As for the kink, I've never been very shy about it. We use a pen pal website story for parents and family but we're very proud of how open we are and it's led to quite a lot of fun we wouldn't have had otherwise!! Next step is to find us a little play partner or two and then see where that takes us. That really sucks. I think the microwave would be the really critical thing, and from my very brief googling, the complicated one (the fridge is easy- get a cooler. I'd suggest an Esky but Google tells me that's an Australian brand. Very brief Argosing gets me this: ). I find drinking stuff not at room temperature keeps me awake. (The microwave- all I can find are propane heaters for camping, and I can understand why you wouldn't want to go there) I suppose a thermos would keep soup or something warm, which might or might not help depending on how you react to warm food or how tired you are.

I really envy you being so open about it. I'm sort of only just getting to the point where most of the people around me accept/ assume that my relationship is sexual and don't think that I'm a horrible evil adulteress who's bound for hell or something :reddevil: :rolleyes: .
