Put that down, fatty!

It's good that you've finally worked out what intake you need to lose. :p

If you don't mind me saying, you dont seem to be as full as you think you are - for example eating 4 packets of WW crisps in a day as well as other snacks? I know they are low fat/cals but for that amount you could have had another mini meal, or a bigger lunch or something... eating something a bit more for your meals might cut down the snacking.

But obviously it's up to you which way you want to go with it, it's your food! :)

Anyway have a good day, dont worry about weighing more than you thought, at least you know where you are now and are on the way to losing lbs :) x

There's nothing wrong with it... just speaking as somebody who struggles to avoid snacking (like you, usually while waiting for a meal to be ready!) I've definately found better meals and fewer snacks works for me.

But whatever your're happy with. :)

For lunch

2 bits of bacon with 1 cup of pasta and one teaspoon of light philidelphia cream cheese

100
210
44

354 for lunch
Also had some grapes and a bit of WW cake - 90 cals

I'm glad it helped :) That site had some good info. On that site it also said women should not eat below 1200 cals.

Just try not to be subtracting too many calories per day. It says for someone who doesn't need to lose too much to subtract 500 cals a day, and for someone who needs to lose more to subtract 1000 but not anymore than that. So just be careful you're not going too far below :)

Last night I went out for dinner with friends and, of course, they had NO salad or chicken. So helpful. No soups either. So had a hallumi and mushroom sandwich (while everyone else had burgers and onion rings and chips!). Was delicious and only around 466 calories which wasn't too bad :)

That brought me to around 1000 for the whole day but I had cranberry juice with a few of my drinks which would have added some more on.
Didn't have any birthday cake either which was good! Feeling very positive today :D

Today, so far:

brown roll: 175
salad: 0
WW snack bar: 80

It's hard to get a healthier option at a restaurant when everyone else isn't, so awesome job on that!

The restaurant is hard for me because when I go I want to eat something awesome cause I don't go to the restaurant too often... well by too often we're trying to only go once a week! lol So definitely good job on eating the best option you could :D

Thanks for checking in on me :D

And yes, I'm planning on doing some exercise soon. I've been walking a few miles every day to and from class which is something small to start with. I just feel so self-consious when I go to the gym or exercise classes :( I've brought 3 fitness DVDs that I'm going to do once a day at home when they arrive which will be a small start and then once I've lost a little more weight and my confidence is higher, I'll start going to the gym. WW is going very well :) I've been keeping a mental track of how many points I'm using a day although I'm writing everything down here in cals as I find it easier to get my head around! They were all lovely at my first meeting and I'm hoping the weekly weigh ins in front of everyone will encourage me to continue!

Thanks Risty! Yeah, it was quite difficult not having something like everyone else at the restaurant but luckily I'm just a poor student and can't afford to eat out very often anyway ;) Thanks for the support!

Walking is a realy good start for exercise :) but try to remember most people at the gym don't care what you look like and are not watching you.

Walking is an excellent way to start! That's what I did and it worked wonders. I would go on a walk on every lunch break (I had an hour so I would walk 30-45 mins almost every lunch) that and eating well I was dropping weight. You'll need to add more later for sure, but it's excellent to start with.

You know, I was so self concious about the gym too. However, one day I came to the realization that as much as I was focused in on myself and not paying any attention to anyone else... everyone else was doing the same thing! No one stared or looked at me, no one payed attention at all. The only time I had people come up and talk to me was when they notices me struggling trying to figure out how to use the weight machines and then they would help me out and wish me luck. So as much as you think people are staring and judging, they really aren't!

Hey,

Just stick to your dvds and exercise that you can do out of public view for now, if that makes you feel better :) you can always join a gym when you've lost a little already and feel better about your weight/fitness. But as everybody else has said, nobody there is interested in watching you, and you do realise that after a while of going! :)

xx

Thank you! I'm hoping as the weight comes off I'll have the confidence to go. Looking in the mirror or at myself when I shower is hard enough without feeling that others are looking at me too though! I've got 2 months until I next see my partner (YAY LONG DISTANCE :() so I figure if I can be intimate with him without needing it to be pitch black than I'll have come a little way!

TODAY:

late morning:
Roll - 175
WW snack bar - 80

late afternoon:
1/2 of pasta, two bits of bacon with the fat cut off and some sweetcorn. teaspoon of philidelphia cheese spread: around 230cals

late evening:
salad - 0
5 wedges - 150
1/4 cup pasta - 60
slice of WW carrot cake - 60

Total: 755

Exercise: walking to class and back (around an hours brisk walking)

Snow is melting, finally, so am going to go out with my partners camera tomorrow afternoon and walk/take photos. Make it a bit more fun!

Anyone have any good work out songs?!

Just thought I'd stop by and say that I think you're on a great path.:)
I'm trying to lose about 40lbs.
And I can totally relate to the whole being a student thing. Makes is so hard!lol
I usually have pretty long breaks between my classes so I'm thinking of going for jogs during them.
I really wish I could join WW. But having no money kind of makes that...not...happen.xD
ANYWAYS
Good luck on your goals!!!:D

Hey Sunflower, I saw that you posted in my journal, so I thought I'd come see how you were doing. It looks like you're doing pretty good. I know that I can drop a lot of humor around this forum, but I would like to say something on a serious note: I noticed that you have a few days where you're not eating neeeearly enough calories. It's not good to only eat like 700-800 calories in a day. I know that you might not feel hungry or anything (I have days where I feel the same exact way), but you should really be eating a little bit more. I've had days where I've eaten less than 1,000 calories and I'll just tell you how it is - yes, you feel great because you didn't stuff your face and you think that it's going to help you lose a lot of weight, BUT, it WILL catch up to you if you keep doing it. You'll start to feel sick, tired and completely wrong inside. Plus, your body won't know how to handle it and you'll probably end up gaining some of that weight back very quickly. I'm just telling you this because it happened to me.

Anyway, other than that, it seems like you're doing really good. So, keep it up. I'm sure you'll be confident enough for your boyfriend before you know it.

IN: Around 600

So today has been good so far :)
Been rushing around with lectures and such all day so it's 2pm and I've only had a 155cal smoothie which is good.
:reddevil: ^^ NOT good! Your calories are wayyy too low girl! For your age, height, and weight, you should be consuming about 1,700/day. This is what your body will burn just by living. The absolute lowest calories you can consume is 1,200 but you should not aim for that amount. Try adding calories with healthy foods - for example, have 2 tablespoons of peanut butter with an apple (together would be about 270 calories) or add cheese to a sandwich... also adds protein! Anything to bump your calories up. If you don't have enough your body will go into starvation mode and hold on to whatever it can and you will not lose weight... or you will but it will not stay off!

On a positive note, you look great already and I think with healthy diet and exercise you will look AMAZING! :)

Hey,

Yeah I agree with Skrrol. Women should not eat below 1200 cals. You may lose weight doing it this way at first but it'll just come right back. You need to figure out a way to make sure not to go below 1200 (one good way is to plan ahead, that way if what you're going to eat is below that, then you can look to see where you can add something here or there). I don't know if you ever watch Dr. Oz, but he talked about this exact thing to this one family who was eating way too little and he said that people who do that will not succeed in the long run. So just try to be careful and make sure you're getting in your cals :)

Hey!
I was just wondering how you're finding WW? I wish I could do WW, but as I live in halls where they feed me, it's seems pointless as I don't make my own meals. It's also really annoying because at uni I don't know how many calories are in a meal, so I don't know how many I'm consuming a day!

Good luck with the walking! Really good exercise to start on. I know what you mean about the gym...I always feel far too self conscious to go at my uni. I'm thinking of getting a pedometer to motivate me to walk more!

Anyway, keep up the good work! :D

Hey babe,

I know the feeling in not being hungry and feeling great that you only ate 1000 cals but honestly, it's not good. Your body needs 1200 to live and I'm trying to be good as well in eating that.

1/4 cup of pasta and things is ridiculous. Eat 1/2 cup or just a cup and have proper meals and things. I'm not going above 1300 cals myself but I'm adding them in a way I enjoy.

Also: I never do what people say and add a spoon of peanut butter to things. Eat something you really like. Salmon on crackers or WW Mini Choc Bites, or ice cream (a solero is 99 cal). I'm not going to waste hundreds of cals on a tbs of mayonnaise. I eat chocolate or sausages or things I like.

I wouldn't say that's really the best thing to do for yourself, especially if you're going to do that every day. Sausage has way too much sodium in it..... ice cream and chocolate, well.... that's not really the best solution to bumping up your calories. If you're going to have some sausage every once in a while, then alright. If you're not going to eat chocolate everyday or ice cream from dessert every night, then alright. But trying to add calories by eating foods like that in my opinion won't do much good for you. Try 1/2 cup of low fat frozen yogurt instead of ice cream if you must. It's all about making healthy choices and replacing the foods you normally eat with ones that are better for you. Not eating the same crappy foods just in smaller portions. On the other hand, salmon on crackers and WW chocolate bites sound like much better options.

Woah, you guys are awesome checking in on me like this :) Came home today to lots of support and advice from you guys and it really made me smile :D

I agree with those of you who say I'm not eating enough.. I've been getting horrible headaches and feeling a little grotty so I'm already up to 1100 today and will have some soup before bed! I think a lot of it is just getting up earlier so I get breakfast in. I have insomnia quite badly so I often don't sleep until 5 or 6am and then sleep most of the day. Hopefully when I get a job this will change!

Sweet Tooth: I've only been to one meeting ( I go every tuesday! ) but it was FAB! Lovely ladies and lots of fun and not taking ourselves too seriously. I was the youngest but it's quite nice being babies and I got lots of cuddles when I got a bit upset when I found out how much I weighed! They give you a starter pack with lots of info about how many points are in certain foods and lots of yummy recipes as well :) Andddd a quiz to find out how many points you are allowed, dependent of weight/height/age, etc.

Thank you all for being so supportive. Much love!

Today I was a supppper pig and had a pizza. A whole damn pizza. Was only (!) 847 cals and I had half for lunch with salad, and then half for dinner with salad and then grapes, a weight watchers cakeyyummythingy and some rye crackers with hummous!

Still a bit hungry (all those empty calories from the pizza, bleh) so will have some WW soup and 1/2 of pasta later.

IN: Around 1200 (with soup!)

Also, I'm going away to visit a friend in Wales for her birthday tomorrow until Monday.I must stay healthy as I have my weigh in the day after I get back (Great incentive though!). I'm going to take a few cans of my WW soup and try to have that for dinner with toast or a roll and have small portions of what my friends have for lunch, as long as it's not awfully bad for me.Will update you all when I'm back--Have a wonderful weekend :D

p.s. I LOST 6lbs! *grins* Not counting it properly until I get weighed on tuesday but in around 9 days, I've lost that much! Woot Woot!
