Put that down, fatty!

Hi there; Love your username and your honesty. I had to laugh a couple times when I read your very first post about sticky notes all over your bedroom. ha ha so funny.

I was telling my co-workers I'm taking "Big Girl" to the gym today. tee hee

Learning t eat healthy is a journey and at the age of 20 you are already on that journey GOOD for you!! So many of my friends have had nothing but GOOD to say about WW. They really help people to lose weight sensibly.

I'm 5'10" also. Anywhere from 140-165 is considered healthy weight range for us tall gals. And the folks who wrote that 1700 cals/day is a good goal for you, are bang on. You will lose 5 pounds/month doing that. That's great you lost 6 pounds - initial weight loss is always so generous and I love it. But after that first whoosh, we go to 1-2 pounds per week. I remember all the posts when I used to be on this site before about how to manage "expectations" so we don't set ourselves up for disappointment.

I see you've already discovered how FANTASTIC the people on this site are. It is by far and away the most genuinely supportive weight loss site I've ever discovered. That's why I keep coming back. Glad you're here :)

Again, I agree with Skrroll. I mean sure it would be nice to add ice cream to boost up calories! But hey, it's not really the best thing to do when trying to lose weight. It's not only about how much you eat but what you eat. The quality of the food is just as important.

Of course you can have a treat here or there, but if you do need to boost calories I would do it in a healthy way like adding the peanut butter on apple slices or celery. Or say you cook your egg whites in a pan with that non-fat spray, well maybe use some olive oil instead (besides the little calorie boost, it has the good fats in it that your body needs!) One thing I liked to do is add some avocado to a sandwich or salad, again it helped me add calories when I was short and it has the good fats in it. So little things like that can help. Even drinking a cup of skim milk as part of a snack is good.

Good luck on making your calorie goals by the way, and good job on getting it to 1100 (better than in the 900's!). You're definitely on your way there!

I 3rd Risty's post.

Keeping the calories up is important... better to eat 3 meals a day with slightly more calories, than to eat next to nothing then finally give in and have a pizza!! But don't worry about that slip-up, just get back on the wagon, as I see you already did. :)

Well done on the 6lb and keeping up the positive attitude :) hopefully this week will go well for you again x

Finally back from my weekend away. Lets count the damage *sigh*

Saturday night: Drank far too much. No wine or calorific drinks though which is good. Ate 2 bits of toast and some crisps though. Meh.

Sunday: Walked 6 miles! Went to a restaurant after and had a small gammon steak, an egg (not the yolk) and some chips (not a huge portion). Also shared a chicken platter but only have a couple of bits so not *too* bad.

Today has been chaos. 5 hour train journey and all they had to eat at the station was fast food and junk so just drank lots of water and felt ill the whole way home :( Now I'm so hungry I feel sick and can't bring myself to cook anything :( Had a whole packet of polos on the train as well and now my tummy is upset and I feel like crap. Will try and eat something shortly--Went food shopping and brought mushrooms and salads and WW meals and hummous and pitta bread andddd a big bag of veg.

Hopefully my weight will have still stayed the same (lost 6lbs) or I'll feel awful at my WW weigh in tomorrow :( Sigh.

On a good note, my fitness DVD's came today. Just wish I wasn't running on 3 hours sleep and nothing in my tummy! And i'm up to my eyeballs in Uni work.

ARGHHH

Rant over.

Hope you're all keeping well <3

Also, I just brought a butt-ton of mushrooms and have no idea what to do with them? Frying thems a bad idea :/ But that's how I used to have them. Any suggestions? Please and thank youuu!

*runs away to do essays*

You could fry them in a little bit of olive oil. Olive oil has the good fats in it so as long as you don't fill the pan with it, you'll be fine! Like using a half tablespoon or a full tablespoon should be fine. You could also put them in a stir fry with other vegetables.

I know with portobello mushrooms they're good grilled, but with button mushrooms they're smaller so I don't know how that would work.

You could also chop them up raw and put them in a salad if you like them raw.

If you make an eggwhite omlette you could add some in there too.

I don't know! lol...

I fried them in butter :) Naughty me but I've been too poorly to eat anything but dinner today so I needed the calories.

Don't really want to count today cause I've only had one meal and I promised myself I'd eat more :( Ah well, must be done.

Cup of wholemeal pasta: around 200? I can't work out how many grams a cup is!
7 mushrooms: 0!
Butter: Guessing like 80? Any clue anyone?
4 wedges: 100
healthy pasta sauce: 20 cals

Oh, and a pitta bread: 125
And polos! : 129

TODAY: 554

Terrible. May have soup before bed or something otherwise I'll feel manky tomorrow.

And I walked about 3 miles today..Not far much I walked instead of catching the bus which was good. And I'm going for a 2 hour walk with my friend Adam tomorrow to look for jobs and take photos along the beach which will be lovely.

Hopefully you'll be back to normal eating tomorrow since you won't be stuck on a train with no food! lol Makre sure to get at least 1200 ;)

I shall, never fear! I've got my meals all worked out for tomorrow so it's all good :D Hope you had a good weekend, Risty xx

Good good!

Well, I worked all weekend (both 12 hr shifts, but they were good shifts, so I guess my weekend was good, lol.

Hey! If you get this right away, pop on to the chat room! I always open it up as a new tab so I can still rummage through diaries, lol.

Was good talking to you yesterday Risty, however brief!

I just got back from a 6.5 mile walk! YAY! My poor feet hurt but I feel good :)

Had toasted pitta with salad and mushrooms for lunch which was yummy and now I've got to wait for after my WW meeting to have dinner :D

Just this week?! That's madddd. The trip away didn't do too much harm then... so just get back on track and be grateful you got away with so much tasty food! :D x

Hi Hana,

You do not have to starve yourself to lose weight! Keeping a journal is a great thing to do. I am a mother of a six month old baby boy. I have lost all my baby weight and I weigh less than before I was pregnant. I lost 6 pounds in seven days and a dress size. I can basically eat the things that I want.

Check out this SPAM and see if this can help.

Good luck with your goals!

Thanks!!

Today:

Actually had breakfast for a change! Some sort of biscuit thing: 150cals
Lunch: 1 cup of pasta with mushrooms and healthy sauce: 300?
Dinner: I'm going to have salad with potato wedges and mushrooms.

I must stop craving mushrooms. Soooo good!

Went for a 4 mile walk in the rain today--Was wonderful. Living on the beach is so beautiful, even in Winter.

Hi

Just re your mushrooms - go buy some one cal spray and spray them a few times. Then get some really low fat cheese (quark has 70 cal per 100g), mix it with some thyme, spices, and a bit of philly for flavour. Smear on mushroom and oven. If you have little mushrooms, you can slice them and smear the mix over them.

Really amazing.

That sounds delicious! I shall give it a shot :)

Only had 530 calories today. Having a tough evening. Miss my boyfriend awfully. Don't feel like having dinner yet. Shouldnt eat at 10pm anyway. Sigh.

Will post tomorrow.

You commented on my diary thread so I figured I would check yours out and just spent like half an hour reading the whole thing heh.

I have the same problem with eating less than I should because once you cut down you get less hungry and makes it easier to cut down further and further until you are eating far too little.
Anyhow how I think of it like breakfast lunch and dinner all around 300 - 400 calories each and whatever else you can have snacks through the day.

such as
Breakfast: Cereal and banana (around 300ish cals)

Lunch:Baked potato with cottage cheese and Salad (around 300 calas)

Dinner:Something like vegtable curry, the kinda things you get in your weight watchers meals. (I just get a premade sauce and add heaps of vegtables and pulses (like lentils and chickpeas and beans) becasue its way cheaper than weight watchers type stuff.anyhow this is around 300 cals then more if you want rice.

So just 3 meals can be around 1000 and then if you want fruit or your crisps or whatever it easily takes it up to how much you should have.

Its a pain in the bum having 3 proper meals a day but its the only way ive found to make it work. And im sure there are much easier options than those ones, thats just the kinda thing I would eat personaly.

wow that was long! anyhow good luck!
