Proving them ALL Wrong!

You already are.!!!!!

You're doing a great job and that day of eating looks good. I actually did the Cybex today at lunch as well. Did think i would make it but i did.

Keep up the good work!!:hurray:

Matt

Thank so much Matt!

I only started doing that thing because 1) the elliptical get redundant 2) you cannot really cheat 3) my good friend Tee is best friends with Gabrielle Reese you know the professional volleyball player and model?, and she recommended it.

She is a personal trainer now and looks fabulous!!! Even though I am not 6'3" I think it gives a heck of a workout and calorie burn for the time spent...

I am hoping to be DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! Is that too lofty a goal??? Don't think so there are some chicas on this site that are off the charts HOTTT!LOL.

Me too! well the HOT part anyway! :rotflmao: Just seeing how your journey is going...sounds like you are fallin' into it pretty well...keep up the good work.

Just curious I work at the Y and most of the equipment is called Cybex. Must be the company name.
Are talking about the Arc Trainer?
Looks like an elliptical but moves differently?
'Cuz that thing will get me sweating faster than the elliptical anyday.

Yes ma'am! That is it...I actually have to let go of the arm handles because that gives more resistance to me...even on level 1 with the resisitance at 10 I am up to burning almost 1000 cals per hour as if I could ever make it that long!

If I do I will let you know. Its an excellent machine but boy does it kick my butt!:ack2: Right now I am thankful to be able to do it for 20 minutes and finish up on the elliptical for my last 10...

I think that thing kicks everyones butt!
We have 4 of them and rarely are any of them sitting idle.
Even at 4:30 in the morning!
Congrats for staying strong on it.

Tired???

Today I feel really worn out...maybe that is stress to a certain extent, don't know but my energy level is way down...

I don't feel like moving from my desk :(

Anyway---nutrition still going well I have eaten...

1 Pluot
1 Low Fat Yoplait Yogurt
1 liter Water

Snack
Kudos (yeah I know slap myself! they are back in the picture)

Lunch
1 Grilled Chicken Breast
1 small (1/2) Corn Cobette
1 cup steamed broccoli
1 liter sugar free strawberry lemonade

Snack
1 Hersheys Dark Chocolate w/ Almonds Nugget
1/2 LARGE peach

1 liter water

Dinner-now this is really up for grabs! Maybe I will make a shrimp burrito at home or get a really good salad...Its Friday night, usually game night or going to the movies, and tomorrow I have lunch at Red Lobster UGHHHH! Endless Shrimp, anyone???? :leaving:

Exercise for today I am going to MAKE MYSELF exercise before I show up at any evening functions tonight, and if we go to the movies, I am going to be cheap and not pay 5.75 for a tub of freaking popcorn since it already costs 10 #!@# bucks to get into the dang movies!!:cuss:

So I will hit the gym for about 45-60 mins for cardio or do my walk away the pounds 3 mile today. I need to get some energy, I bought some green tea bags yesterday, anyone know anything about how that works???

Hey Keepasecret :) I've seen your journal a few times but got interrupted with my crazy hectic life or demanding hubby so this is the first time I've had a chance this week to say hi...so HELLO :waving:

Looks like you're doin great...even making modifications already. I wanted to thank you for posting how you found all that used exercise equipment. I went on Craigslist and there are TONS. I can't afford it right now because my husband just had two weeks of not working ;/ but soon as we get a little room back in our budget I realized I could by a used elliptical :D There was one there today for $250.

Anyway hope the rest of your day is a good one ~Lisa

Craigslist rocks!!! I have bought and sold there a bunch of times. It's great, as long as you stay out of the sketchy ads (unless, thats what your looking for...).

Hey,
Just wanted to say thanks for the kind words you left me. I'm glad i can inspire you. I wish everyone could feel how good it feels to reach your goal. If you keep doing what you are doing there is no doubt you will reach your goal.

Eating out can be tough. Just make sure you make the best choices possible. I always found it helpful to fill up on a salad first. Also, dont feel bad to ask for something the way you want it. Remember you are the customer.

I love game night. My daughter is only three so she is on a big Candyland kick. I can not beat her at this game. I dont know what it is but i just can't win. And i'm a supercompetative person, so i will not let her win.

One thing i do when I'm lacking energy at work is just take a walk. Go outside and grab some fresh air. I know it can sometimes be tough but force yourself. A 10-15 minute walk can do wonders.

I know I'm all over the place but just catching up on some of your posts. I like the arc trainer but did the elliptical for the longest time. Have you ever tried HIIT on the elliptical? Makes the time go so fast. i would warm up for 3 minutes, then go 100% for a minutes and then 75% for a minute. 25 minutes is all you need and you get a great work out and it goes fast.

Do you have a weight in day? Keep us posted on your results.

Matt

Crashed and Burned!!!

Well my daughter's birthday is monday so she decided where we would eat last night....That turned out to be the Olive Garden so my dinner went down like this...

2.5 breadsticks
1 plate/bowl salad with house dressing
1 bowl Zuppa Toscana soup
3 pieces fried zucchini w/marinara
2 cups (20oz?) water with lemon

NOT GOOD I KNOW but could have been much worse so I am glad I did not get the No Sugar Added (why would it need to be!) Molten Chocolate Cake with Strawberries and Cream on the side or Shrimp and Fettucine alfredo....that would have been disasterous although I have heard the dressing they make is pretty bad on the calorie front...

AN NO EXERCISE IN YESTERDAY! awful...

Anyway-I weighed in this morning and ahh success!!! I now am a weight of 223.4 so about a 1.6 pound loss WOOHOO! :coolgleamA:

Now as for today I have to tackle going to Red Lobster so to overcome the issues had yesterday I am researching their menu NOW and have decided what to eat BEFORE I get there~! They have some healthy choices so hopefully I can balance them.

Also working out with my son in a couple minutes, he so loves his mama! Thanks for all the encouragement people and I promise not to let you or myself down...

Yesterday...

Saturday--

I think overall it was a successful navigation of a girls day out!

In the morning I had 32 oz of my jello shake! If anyone wants the recipe I will let you have it, way cool alternative to milkshakes and smoothies that is way lower in calories and tastes SINFUL!!!

Then a Kudos bar around 2:30, I passed on the kids McDonald's (alright about 5 fries :willy_nilly:) because I knew Red Lobster was coming up...

Alright- THE MAIN EVENT Me VS. RED LOBSTER

i went on their website before hand and decided I would have 2 biscuits (they are 160 cals a piece/9 g of fat) for Main Entree Garlic Grilled Shrimp (142 cals) with extra seasoned broccoli (56 cals per serving) and the wild rice the shrimp comes with 204 calories.

I ORDERED THIS!!! COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. They had so much other stuff that looked appetizing but it was either too expensive or not healthy to me.

1 glitch in my well planned program...:toetap05:...my friend Tanya ordered the Warm Chocolate Chip Lava Cookie Sundae!!! OMG...that is my major weakness, warm baked goods and ice cream what a recipe for disaster....I ate about a quarter to a half of that thing, I have no idea what the damage is...I furiously set about looking up information when i got home to no avail :(

We hit the movies after and I was determined not to eat anything else which I didn't I hit the bed about 10pm so thank ful I had done the 3 mile WALK Away the POUNDS before I left the house!

Today is another day entirely with "GOOD" choices on the horizon :)

Sounds like you did well overall with your eating out.
I know that I wouldn't have been able to turn down the baked goods!
At least you know these 3 things:
You made better choices by being informed beforehand. (Even though you had some of your friends dessert think how much worse it could have been had you not been pro-active.)
You exercised in anticipation of eating out and You said NO to the popcorn.
I think that you did an AWESOME job!

Tired

Well I have joined Spark People, yeah I am addicted to tracking progress...I think its the third site since this one...

Today went well, I ate about 1800 calories and burned about 700 in cardio between the elliptical and walking away the pounds, and that turbo jam, which is pretty difficult at first stab!

Bellaryna---thanks for the kind words, planning helped tremendously. I am going to take my sweaty butt to bed, or shower rather :) till tomorrow all...

BTW-does anyone know how much water is too much??? I think I am drinking about 15 cups per day 120 oz??? Seems like my bladder is getting weaker or something, just an observation...

'Revenge' can be a great motivator (I've got a little bit of that too), but I hope its because you want to do it for YOU.

Revenge is a GREAT motivator. I plan on attending my next HS reunion (in 5 years) though I did not attend my last one...A.) because I didn't want to travel 4,000 miles to see people I did not keep in touch with and B.) because I'd gained about 120 lbs since graduation. Now I'm back in my hometown and am losing the weight. I know some of my classmates gossip about me having gained weight, but since none of them have actually seen me they don't really know what the real story is. And even if they do find out, so what...I'll be buff by then and they can suck it.

But I am going to up the protien from some other sources like lentils/beans and cut back on the carbs. I have pretty much cut all but natural sugar out of my diet and the granola bars are starting to taste REALLY sweet to me.

Oh man, me too! I wondered if it was just me...I've never had much of a sweet tooth but candy and sugary things taste sickeningly sweet to me now. When I do go off plan, I always go for the salty cheesy melty greasy items like pizza, fried chicken, Mexican food, etc. I don't reach for a bar of chocolate...in fact I don't have any chocolate in my house at all and have not for a while.

i went on their website before hand and decided I would have 2 biscuits (they are 160 cals a piece/9 g of fat) for Main Entree Garlic Grilled Shrimp (142 cals) with extra seasoned broccoli (56 cals per serving) and the wild rice the shrimp comes with 204 calories.

That was absolutely 1000000% the right thing to do. You know you're going out. You know there's temptation. So you do a little research beforehand and choose your entree before you walk in the door. You gear yourself up to make the healthy choice before you even get in the car. I do that too...it's really helpful. The last time I went out to dinner with my parents I suggested Chili's because I know I can get healthy (if sodium-packed) entrees there. At the last minute my mom tried to suggest a Chinese buffet. I was like...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! CHILI'S! WAH! I explained to her that I'd psyched myself up for the "guiltless" chicken platter all day long and that was what I wanted. So we went to Chili's. If I'd gone to the Chinese buffet it would have been a diet disaster...I lovelovelovelovelove that stuff.

You slipped a little with the dessert, but as the title of Steve's diary says, this is a journey, not a destination. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just don't do it all the time. :hat:

BTW-does anyone know how much water is too much??? I think I am drinking about 15 cups per day 120 oz??? Seems like my bladder is getting weaker or something, just an observation...

I don't drink a set amount each day; if I notice my pee is getting darker, I'll drink a glass or two. (Your pee should be close to clear to straw-colored, I've read.) I'll drink a glass or two if I'm thirsty. I drink about 75% of a normal-sized bottle at the gym every day. If my legs and ankles start to swell up, I drink more to try to clear it out. If my body's holding onto water, I put more in until it realizes that it doesn't have to hold onto it. If the swelling is really uncomfortable (which it can be) then I take a caffeine-based diuretic, but that's the last resort.

The cruise to the bahamas!!!! Aargh!

Have been unable to post due to well, being out of the country on vacation and I will be damned to pay .75 per minute to use the internet on the ship, my goodness. You would think for a thousand bucks they could throw in some free minutes??? :(

Anyway, this was an exercise in disaster...can you say french fries, chocolate cake, no exercise, burgers (which I normally don't eat) lots of Indian food...being that I recognize a few issues I will say what I need to prevent for the next trip!

1) Never schedule a vacation during T.O.M. because it promotes lack of movement i.e. no exercise
2) try to eat as NORMAL a portion of food as possible, this is pretty simeple on cruise ships in their restaurants
3) avoid the buffets, try as much as possible to go an sit down at a restaurant that serves 1 plate of food.
4) Don't let the kids pig out either on ice cream and hot dogs all day...just because its there, find something else to do...
5)track down some water and fill up!

Any other tips would be appreciated!!!! :smash:

He He, tips on avoiding weight gain on a cruise? DON'T TAKE ONE!!!! :smilielol5:

Are you kidding? Cruises are designed to increase your weight by the end. If they didn't do that, they just aren't successful!

Seriously, It is a holiday, do your best, but, it isn't like you'll be cruising in the Bahamas every day is it? Time to focus now, and forget last week.

Gawd I could use a vacation right now...
