Proving them ALL Wrong!

I get what you are saying cabbie and believe me there were plenty of "light" choices on the ship but they just don't look as good sitting next to the fattier foods...but I will try to avoid again if at all possible...lol~!

Oh a cruise...I'm envious...that's my dream vacation. I think I'm going to start a bank and throw change in it towards that for a very long term goal...like when I'm under 200lbs, lol. For one I can enjoy the cruise on the thinner side...two if they cause weight gain I'll be so far down I can come back and get back on track. So what all did you do on the cruise?

Well I mostly layed in the bed believe it or not and ate a whole lot! It was TOM also and I am very sea sick sooo that doesn't make for a good couple days. This trip was for my kids, I am going a gain the end of November god willing for me :)

The bahamas was beautiful and we went to Clearwater beach beforehand and to Busch Gardens. That was a blast!

i am not going to catalog what i eat everyday since that is a lot of upkeep, a journal, an online diary and here but if I have some crashes and burns I will definitely own up to my shortcomings :) and make sure to celebrate my successes!!!

Speaking of success I weighed myself this morning and I am down to 222.2. Not a huge loss but way less than arriving back in the US last week. So I am happy about that. I slacked a little this week on the exercise but still made it to the gym 3 times.

My friend Gerald started Fat Smashing and I had a whole lot of fun cooking for him and trying new recipes...

Anyone ever cooked a whole meal in those steam bags from Ziploc or Glad, oh yum yum!!! Those things are awesome for work , home wherever there is a microwave you can cook a healthy meal, check them out if you get a chance. :seeya:

What have you tried in them besides veggies? Sounds like an awesome idea...just wondering if you had thrown chicken in there too and if so was it precooked? I'm curious because I pack food for work on weekends because I'm there all day so I can always use more tricks, lol.

A good way of keeping yourself from getting discouraged is to focus on good health instead of everyday measuring your waistline and weight. When you exercise even a little (some exercise is always better than no exercise) and eat healthy food it does good to your body and I think that should be the focus. When you know that you are following good habits to keep your body healthier, after a few months you realize that you have automatically started losing weight.

Wow that last post was kind of random, lol. Guess it was your lucky day to get "drive by" advice. Anyway I came by to ask you for your jello shake recipe :) I saw you mention it in an earlier post.

Oh I have put in chicken breast and pork loin, shrimp, you name it! I put stuff in raw and it thoroughly cooks from 4-10 minutes depending on weight. I try to put in smaller pieces but I have cooked chicken breasts whole too. Put your meat in add your seasoning and it comes out pretty juicy and flavorful!

As for the Jello shakes...started these as an alternative to the Orange Dream Shakes my daughter wanted to get from Arby's which are around 900 calories. But you can mix and match flavors if you like I use whatever I have on hand.

Jello Shake

1 pkg (4 serving) sugar free fruit flavored jello (peach, raspberry, strawberry, cherry, orange etc.)
6-8 ice cubes
1.25 cups water
1.25 cups skim or low fat milk
2 whole fruits (like 1 banana and 1 orange or any combination you like or equivalent canned or frozen UNSWEETENED fruit)
1 4-6oz container of low fat yogurt

Add all ingredients in blender and blend for 30-45 seconds immediately (otherwise the jello may start trying to setup :)). Yields 8 cups. The entire container is around 350-400 calories depending on fruit used. You can also add non-calorie sweetner to taste but I find I don't need it. Hope you enjoy!:cheers2:

Wow that sounds yummy...I'll be tryin that on my days off because I have everything here already. And definitely going to be buying some of those steam bags for sure :) Thanks for the awesome tips

They are very yummy! My kids love them, they ask for them everyday. I have yet to make a chocolate shake for fear of becoming addicted but the fruit ones are pretty good. I am going to try one with sugar free chocolate pudding mix soon and unflavored yogurt...

You will be so glad you bought the steam bags, I reuse mine usually because they rinse out and I am pretty cheap if I say so myself. :)

As for today -

Breakfast
Simple Harvest Multigrain Cereal -Honey almond
1 Plum
1 Light n' Fit Yogurt

Snack
20 baby carrots

Lunch
1.5 cups healthy chicken noodles soup- homemade with whole wheat pasta
1/2 cup sauteeed squash

I am doing about 40 minutes on the elliptical/ar trainer at the gym and weights for about 15 minutes.

I also ordered the Weight Watchers at Home program last week and it should arrive today. I have done it before so I would like to pass on the meetings and all that but the books on food and stuff were very helpful, so I needed the newer 2008/2009 versions. That was way easier for me to count than calories.

Once afternoon snack and dinner happen will post that as well! :auto:

Sorry to hear about the sea sickness... hope you enjoyed your ports of call even more then. Bahamma's = Beautiful. Also glad to see you back here and makin' progress!! :)

sorry response is so late...

Oh man, me too! I wondered if it was just me...I've never had much of a sweet tooth but candy and sugary things taste sickeningly sweet to me now. When I do go off plan, I always go for the salty cheesy melty greasy items like pizza, fried chicken, Mexican food, etc. I don't reach for a bar of chocolate...in fact I don't have any chocolate in my house at all and have not for a while.

I have a HORRIBLE sweet tooth! Baked goods do me in everytime. I will eat chocoloate brownies for dinner and pass on everything else, REALLY BAD! I have had to find really good alternatives and stuff to eat because its not going away...

when I go to places like that (even CHILI's with their PARADISE PIE!!!:willy_nilly:) I try to research as much upfront as I can because if dessert is going to be an issue I don't want what I had for my meal to be too...

I'm not sure if you want to know how many calories are in the Paradise pie... But it qualifies as one of the top 20 worst foods in America according to a survey I read recently... 1600 calories and 78 grams of fat...

Sounds really good though:drool5:

Yikes... 1600 calories? That's more than my current daily intake! :ack2: Does sound sinfully yummy though.

My weakness is the dessert that is a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge. I think Stuart Anderson's does one. End up having to share it because its so large, but I haven't had one in quite a while. At this point I'd probably make it through 2 or 3 bites and feel like I've OD'ed.

Omg!

Cabbie, where did you get that tidbit of info??? I would rather not have known that!!! LOL But really thank you, lucky for me I am cheap and I have 3 kids so we always split dessert 4 ways! :ack2: And I see that its a good thing!

I know what you mean Phoenyx because stuff is getting harder for me to stomach in the sweet realm, sugar free is much more normal for me and dark chocolate is my friend. I have 1 square of of Bliss in the afternoon and I am good (at only 33 calories!)

As for dinner last night--I had the grilled chicken salad from Zaxby's. Another Shocker in the calorie world. I used to eat their Fried Chicken salad one until I learned it had almost 900 calories! And I skip their texas toast, loaded with butter!

I did have a snack size Kit Kat from my friend Andrea's trip to Israel :( though but went to the movies and skipped the candy and popcorn! WHEW!

Today's Meal Lineup :)

1 banana
1 small plum
1 Light n' Fit
1 White Meat Turkey Burger w/ pepper jack on whole wheat
1 cup steamed broccoli
1 chocolate covered strawberry
1 piece bliss dark chocolate
1 kudos snickers 100 cal granola bar
1/2 cup steamed broccoli
1 pork eggroll
1 cup white rice
4 steamed jumbo shrimp
3 tablespoons hoisin/ginger sauce
1 tablespoon pork fried rice (I couldn't resist!:blush5:)

1 cup cherry coke to 3 cups diet coke
4 cups water (need to drink more like now!)

Skipped the gym, kinda tired from lack of sleep....will do double tomorrow! Oh went to the gym yesterday and burned 500 whole calories!!! YAY! Also got my WW stuff so gotta get back into tracking stuff that way...

I have been taking a nutrition type class at work because my cholesterol is high. The dietician teaching the class as part of her presentation thought it would be amusing to bring up some common things from restaurants to show how bad they were. The Paradise pie wasn't even the worst! Outback Aussie Cheese fries come in at 2,900 calories.

well glad to hear it wasn't the worst item on the list!:ack2:

Tracking points now...I was over yesterday by 7.5 ( I made some corn muffins with creamed corn to accompany my whole wheat spaghetti with vegetable marinara).

So that will come off of my weekly allowance. Trying my best to get back into the gym since we are headed to SeaWorld this weekend:coolgleamA:...have missed all this week except one day! :(

Hey stoppin by to say hi :) I saw you went to the movies and skipped candy AND popcorn...wow that's some willpower. What's the secret? Oh and I haven't had a chance to try those recipes yet but I need to write down the stuff I don't have and put it in my purse so I can. Hope stuff is good with you, swing by and let me know how you are when you get a chance. ~Lisa

Lisa, I think the fact that I am so thrifty helps me some at the movies I am just wowed at the prices in there! As for the secret usually I lurk around on forums for quite a while before anyone knows I am there...so I am the secret!

LOL anyway,

once again trying to maintain my eating. I have started eating lots of fiber stuff. Fiber one bars and LivActiv cereal, still lots of veggies and fruits and I don't see my weight moving very much this morning the scale said 221.8 but the measurements are coming down...

Bust- 36.5??? down from 42?
Waist-36.5 from 37
Hips-48.5 from 50

I need to measure my thinghs because they are my NEMESIS but I am a whole lot stronger than I was, I think I need to switch things up a little and get some muscle confusion going on...burning the fat on top of the muscle is damn trying I tell you!

Also added in some pre packaged Healthy Choice meals to keep the calories monitored...for lunch. Dinner is usually something like shrimp or scallops stirfried with veggies and brown rice or whole wheat pasta...

Hehehe...I just can't eat sweet stuff like that anymore.

I could probably eat a whole medium pizza on my own though. :drool5:
