Project C

At least you manage to get the veggies in OK lass, I just never seem to have enough in my house to get anywhere near the amount I'd like in a day. In fact I need to pop over to the super market and get some more frozen stuff. Thanks for reminding me!:D

Good job on the 26 pounds since your last doctor's visit!!!! And great news on your sugar control. You have made such healthy changes that your life is going to be totally different from now on. You will be off those medications before you know it!!!

And why does reading your diary always make me so hungry :)

Hey C, I'm so proud of you for your great progress, dedication & attitude! I like the 50 pound prize by the way, it's a nice way to give yourself a non-food treat, and if you think about it, 3 for $28 is still under $10 each and it lasts longer than a $10 meal (we hope) and we're all trying to move away from food rewards, right? So it's either that or a $30 pedicure, do what you like!

I don't know too much about diabetes, so maybe I'm wrong, but it would seem to me that a disorder that severe is going to take a while to cure itself. Definitely keep working, and keep hoping that the next visit is the one that you can stop taking meds after, but maybe its one of those things that requires everything to be right before it goes away itself. I'm happy to hear that your blood sugar levels are in the normal range though, that's a great step in the right direction if I properly understand what diabetes is!

Hope you have/had tons of fun boogying!

Pineola - I'm glad u liked the eggplant recipe. Honestly, it's one of my favourite dishes in restaurants too but it's soo fatty and oily. So I'm glad I found a low fat version online. :D As for the chicken & mushroom spaghetti recipe... I used to fry up some onions and mushrooms and then chicken and then add a can of fat free cream of mushroom soup for the sauce. But I will try to create a new recipe this weekend with skim milk and broth. I'll tell you how it goes. :)

AussieGirl - Thanks AussieGirl. I'm not always but I try. :)

Crunchie - lol. Veggies I have no problems with usually. I love veggies. It's fruit I detest actually. *hisses at an apple* ;) :p

Cannon - Thanks Cannon. Hopefully I can get it under control even more. p'-'q

Scarlett - lol... Sorry. Ummm. Erm. *thinks* OH! Here. *hands Scarlett the apple I was hissing at* Eat this? ;) :D

MissPrincess - well, the underwear isn't my 50 pound thingee. It was something Jess pointed out actually. But I do think a lil reward would be great. I'm not sure about pedicure though... I am awfully ticklish. Maybe a manicure would be fun though. I've never had one before.

Beagle - Well... I'll never ever be cured of it. Once you're diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, that's it. There's no turning back. The only thing one can do is try to get control of their sugar levels by eating more properly and losing weight. And maybe *hopefully* you can retrain your body to be more sensitive to insulin again. That's what I am trying to do now. If your body is sensitive to insulin again and you're eating healthy, then you don't need medication. The medication is only to help reduce your body's own creation of glucose so your overall sugar level is lowered. But if your body accepts insulin again and u're not eating doughnuts and ice cream for breakfast and lunch, you don't need the medication anymore to lower your glucose. That's what I'm aiming for. So although my sugar level is now normal, the doctor felt it was too soon to take me off the medication especially since my period is still abnormal. So we figured when I've lost enough weight and my period is normal again, I can be off the medication because it means my body's now getting better. So the next big deadline is in Decemeber. And I'm hoping I can be finally off the those pills cause my sugar levels weren't very high to begin with but I am still classified as a diabetic. So I hope that explains diabetes to you a bit more. :)

Week 3 Challenge: Move More! (Cumulative)

Day Eighteen:
Well... Today has many successes and failures. Lemme explain.

Today I ended the day with 1050 calories. A bit on the low side. But actually, 38% of those calories was from fat. >_< Fat Blasters, please forgive me!!

Okay, what happened was for breakfast I had my usual cereal with milk & laughing cow cheese. Lunch was a runza wrap and half a pummelo fruit. Then I went shopping later in the afternoon. I picked up some Laughing Cow cheese, turkey breast and a new cereal to try (multigrain cheerios). (I also picked up two of the cutest handbags ever but I digress...) Anyways, it was about 4:30 and I was getting hungry. And I wanted to treat myself to something... And I passed by my favourite fast food joint called Burger Palace. They make awesome burgers and fries. I grew up on them. It's owned by a Greek family and it's really a Ma & Pop's kinda fast food stand. And since I haven't had fries from them in SUCH a long time, I couldn't resist... And ordered a regular fries with gravy. EEEP!! So there's my 1050 calories for the day. :( Don't lynch me Fat Blasters!! eeep. >__< I was thinking maybe I could recoup a bit and have a salad or something for dinner... but... I fell asleep. :( Ya... I broke the no sleeping after eating rule. I napped about 2 hours after I ate. Totally by accident. I had just showered and just kinda fell asleep in bed... which made me miss the window of opportunity to cook dinner. So I asked Mom when she'd be home with dinner (she cooks at the bakery and brings it home after work) cause I knew she said dinner for the family would be earlier today. And I figure if I start cooking then, by the time I finished, she'd be home. So I said, okay, I'd wait for her. BUT, my parents didn't come home til ELEVEN at NIGHT. By then it was WAY too late. By the time, I finish my meal, wait 3 hours, bedtime would be 2:30am for me and I gotta get up at 7:15am. So no dinner for me... and the fries would have to be my dinner then. :( Hence... low calorie count but 38% of it is fat. :(

Some successes though... While I was at the mall, instead of taking the escalators upstairs to directly the store I wanted, I took the stairs even though I had to walk further to the middle of the mall and then double back. I also walked home from the mall instead of taking the bus. And I even took the longer route. And like I said, I didn't eat anything cause I looked at the time. I already broke the no sleeping rule once today. I wasn't about to do it again. p'-'q

So I'm guzzling the last 500 mL for the day and then I'm gonna crash with an empty tummy but a full bladder. Ah well, I'll be better tomorrow. I've already packed my lunch. It's Mom's dinner. Steamed rice, roasted chicken (breast only) and some cooked baby bak-choy. So it should be fairly healthy to make up for today.

By the way... What's everyone's favourite tunes to dance to? I'm looking for really upbeat fun songs to groove to? I like the idea of just shaking my booty in my room. I don't think I'm even dancing sometimes, just jumping around like an idiot but it's fun. :p So any tunes anyone can suggest?

For some music suggestions: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/showthread.php?t=2131

I made this thread AGES ago, and it never took off, but you reminded me of it! I've got some other, newer music too. Off the top of my head I can only think of Gorillaz songs, White Light, and Clint Eastwood, for good grooves. When I get home, I'll take another look at my ginormous playlist for some more. How picky are you about your music? Personally I'm game for just about anything as long as its got good instrumentals. ;)

Some choices from my happy feet play list in itunes.. (yes, I have strange taste in music)

Fool in the Rain - Led Zeppelin
Come Dancing - The Kinks
The Devil Went Down to George-Charlie Daniels Band
Lets Go Crazy - Prince
Rock 'n' Roll High School - The Ramones (actually anyhting by the ramones gets ya moving)
Stray Cat Strut - The Stray Cats
One Way Or Another - Blondie
Keep Your Hands To Yourself - Georgia Sattelites
Who Do You Love? - George Thorogood

Dancin' is oodles of fun...

I believe if you follow Beagle's link you'll find what's in my IPOD. Its not all dance music, but its got some at least.

Hi Initial C

Just popping in to see how things are going and to make a little comment. I was just visiting Aussie girl's diary and you mentioned that you are a baker 's daughter. Oh my goodness. How do you control yourself? I would be eating date squares and bread until I could not eat anymore. Is the bake shop attached to your house? Did you or do you work there? I would have such a hard time fighting that temptation on a daily basis.

I'm so bad fotr wanting to fall asleep after eating as well, I usually have to do something or have my tea late to avoid it.

Anyway C I hope you have a fantastic weekend and the scale is kind to you when you next weigh in.:D

Beagle - I listen to about almost everythign too so I'm not that picky. My only requirement is that it's gotta have a beat. A good fast one at that. :D I must say I am suprised you have Utada Hikaru on ur playlist. Not alot of North Americans are familiar with her music. :) Thanks for some of the suggestions. And woah. That is an old thread. You weren't kidding. That was like SEVERAL months before I joined.

Maleficient - Oooh. I've never heard some of those before but I'll definitely search for them. THanks!

Cannon - Umm. Call me dumb... But I didn't find your ipod list.

Jenn - Yep. I'm a baker's daughter. I'd show you all my creations... But you guys might all think I'm fueling the fire to eat. ^__^;; To be honest, it wasn't that hard cause I don't like sweets that much. I'm more of a salty muncher anyways. And yeah. I used to work there. Still do at times. During the weekends, sometimes I go there to help make walnut cookies. In one batch, I'd make +400 cookies. I kid to everyone I've been "in the business" for +20 years. Mind you, I'm gonna be turning 25 this August! I remember being 3 or 4 years old and helping my mother decorate fruit flans/big fruit tarts with custard below. Sides, you get tired of it after awhile. I really hate certain buns and pastries and cakes now because I remember eating them so much as a kid.

Scarlett - LOL! You're a girl after my own heart. The first bag is black leather and kinda 50s looking & shaped. One one side, there's teardrop holes and u can see a lavender fabric in the back of it. It's really cute. The second is muted green plastic/mesh as the body. and then there's dark brown pleather straps on both sides with buckles and it becomes the strap too. It's a much more casual look.

Crunchie - I'd do that too... except I've been trying to quit caffeine for awhile now. So no tea or coffee or even coke for me. I hope you have a fantastic weekend too Crunchie and that the scale is kind to you too. :)

Week 3 Challenge: Move More! (Cumulative)

Day Nineteen:
Okay, so today was a MUCH better day in terms of eating. Higher in calories but more nutritious food. :) About 1450 calories with only 18% being overall fats. And from that amount only 6% was saturated fats. Ah. Much better. Breakfast was cereal, milk & laughing cow cheese. Lunch was Mom's leftover roasted chicken (breast only, no skin) with steamed rice and cooked baby bok choy. Dinner I made spicy szechaun eggplant with ground beef and rice. Water... I've drank 2 liters already. Down to my last 500mL again. I ate early today so bedtime should be fine.

I did get off a stop earlier today and I even walked an extra stop in the morning too. After I type this I plan to shake my booty to some tunes. Thanks for the suggestions guys! :)

PS - Mom made my brother chicken nuggets for dinner. I wanted to sneak a bite but I REALLY resisted. I'm pretty proud of myself for that. :)

Hey there C - it sounds like you had a really good day - despite 38% fat ;) All the walking you did, the choice you made about going out of your way to take the stairs, are all great things!

And the hand bags sound wonderful! If Scarlett hadn't asked, I was going to - I love the DEATILS!

Okay, I got some of that Laughing Cow cheese you keep talking about. Can't wait to try it. Have to wait until tomorrow, though. Already too close to my limit today. :)

Oooo, nice play list Cannon!

I don't have an ipod/mp3 player, so I walk and think (for 1.5 miles before I meet my friend). I use that time to think about what I'm doing this for, how far I've come, where I still want to go - it's like my private mediation period for the day.

As for any other music - well, it's mostly Dave Mathews...
ok, I'll be honest, it's ENTIRELY Dave Mathews ;)
