My 1st day here at this site and finding out alot of information :)

I started my diet on Wednesday May 9th. Started drinking 5-6 glasses of water since instead of the usual 3-5 mountain dew cans (170 calories each, don't remind me). Eating about 6 times a day to keep metabolism up with about 1300 calories intake

About me:
Age:19
Height:5'10"
Weight:250 (from when I started), 245 now after 4 days, i'm not complaning.
Goal:Loose 10 lbs/month, 160 at the end
Current Exercises:Walking the dog at the beach ~45 minutes/day 3-4 times a week

Hi Prakas!

I'm new, too :). Nice to meet you.

I'm a former Mt. Dew addict... we had to stop buying it for the house because we could drink the case in under two days between me and my husband, though mostly me.

Congrats on the four pounds already!!

Walking the dog at the beach sounds great. I'm jealous :).

Michelle

Hi notme!

Thanks, since I started drinking water, it was relatively easy to quit Mt.Dew with the right motivation. Now I have about 70 cans sitting around the house and some in the fridge.

Yesterday wasn't too bad, managed to get a 30 minute walk in and a light 15 minute cardio exercise in. However I went to the supermarket and saw 3 porterhouse steaks on sale for $24, and I just couldn't resist.

Breakfast: 1/2 Large Banana (half of it fell off 90 cal) and a Yoplait Yogurt (180 cal)
Snacks: Watermelon,10 saltine crackers (130 cal),peanut butter and jelly sandwich (300 cal) throughout the day
Lunch: Tunafish salad sandwich & watermelon
Dinner: 1.1 lb Porterhouse steak with a corn on the cob

Trying to bump my calories up a little bit on mondays so I don't go into starvation when I have 1100-1500 calorie days. So Monday is offically steak night or other.

I switched over to light lemonade. I dont like plain water but knew I had to kick the soda habit. I still have a can or two a day, and at least one can is diet, but just in general soda is so unhealthy!

Your day sounds like you did pretty well. Watermelon sounds pretty good, too :).

hey Prankas
thanks for the post and crongratulations to you 2 :)
Seems like you are very motivated ! keep the hard work!
Remember what Eleanor Roosevelt said:

You must do the things you think you cannot do.

i read that today and I loved it!

Have a beautiful afternoon.
oh and im so jealous I wish I had a beach where I could walk!! thats awesome!!enjoy it!!

thanks for the posts and support !

I like that quote, believe it or not I've never heard it before, and wish I did when I was in school. Maybe I could of ran the mile in less then my traditional 14+ minutes. I'll keep that in mind :hug2:

Beach is great, but forgot to mention I got a parking ticket for not paying the meter a couple days ago, wasn't too happy about it, and sand makes a mess in the jeep. However, the dog loves it there so its all worth it to see him happy, and getting my feet wet while walking feels great.

Went to the state park today instead and registered for an annual pass, went for a walk with the dog. To make a long story short, the place was HUGE and we got lost on a hiking trail when we were suppose to be on the biking trial. Still got a good 40 minute walk in, and I think I'll start putting on bug spray.

Kept on my diet today, and having some pasta with sauce and cheese, more calories then I wanted to take for dinner but I'll be under 1900 calories.

I love dogs they make great walking buddies. What kind of dog do you have?

sounds like you had a good day today. how much did they park pass cost you? i thought about doing that once but figured it was to much money.

you can clean the sand away from away from the jeep;), but who takes away the pleasure of being in front of the magnificent SEA! im sorry I just love the ocean, or lakes or rivers! Im a nature loving person :)hehe where I live there is no sea but we have mountains which I also love:D

I want to encourage you but do you know what your caloric range is? 1500 calories is not enough for a person your size. You exercise, right? Your maintenance level is closer to 15 calories x body weight in pounds, so if you eat 20% below that, you'll get to eat as much as possible and still lose weight. 15 calories x body weight in pounds is a standard formula for anyone. As your weight drops you recalculate. Hell even 10 calories x body weight in pounds would be more than you're eating now.

I am losing 4-7 pounds a month doing that.

I'm just saying this incase you're going hungry and getting discouraged. Also I think its important for long term adherence which is the secret when there's a lot to lose.

All the best.

I have a golden retreiver, almost 5 years old as of this november. He loves to get me soaked at the beach by dragging me in the water :p.

Jeep hasn't been cleaned for almost a year, think I have a new chore to do tomorrow or friday. But yeah, its a great place to walk at, especially in the morning around 7am when theres just a few people out there.

Thanks Happy,
actually I've heard alot about that and have increased my calorie intake at dinner. I have a fairly low calorie intake the entire day, eating fruits, veggies, and peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I try getting in about a 700-1100 calorie dinner so I have about 1800 a day. Today for example I had left over pasta with 2 fat sausages (only needed 1).

Today marks my 1st complete week of dieting, weighed myself this morning at 245. I'm down 5 pounds for my first week!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST WEEK!! you should be proud of your self!

I think im going to bed now im very tired!!
take care and have a beautiful day tomorrow! :D

WooHoo!! 5 lbs!!! I'm proud of you!

When you're done with your jeep I'll give you mine to do :). It's just a hatchback, but cleaning the back seat is a pain. No sand in it though ;).

Have a great day!

Long time no read :)
Just dropping by to say hello! and keep the hard work!
Have a Nice Day! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Hey everyone, I was real busy last night, 45 minute walk at the park, just to get home and find I needed to do a little shopping. Got about another hour of walking in at the supermarket, very happy about that.

I still haven't cleaned my jeep, no excuse :(. I'm very excited about loosing the 5 lbs the first week, really gave me the motivation I needed.

Changing my breakfast around some, eating a banana and water for breakfast really doesn't fill me up, so I am now eating GO LEAN cereal which is low in calories, and high in fiber and protein 8-9grams of each with a few strawberries. Then I have a banana as a snack for later before lunch.

Adjusting to this diet is getting hard, feels like I'm looking for the perfect diet and I'm finding myself having the munchies throughout the day even though I'm always eating fruits or veggies as snacks throughout the day.

Strawberries with breakfast just sounds good! I have frosted mini wheats for breakfast nearly every day. I have preportioned baggies and just grab one and go. I eat them dry and in my car while I drive. When I stay home, I eat something better :).

Keep up with the walking!

Michelle

hey where are youuuu?
hello.... is somebody there??
Just checking in hope your doing fine dont be a stranger!! we miss you
take care!!
and dont become discouraged youre doing just great :D!!!

I'm here :). I haven't really slipped, I just got some 100 calorie snack packs, and limiting myself to no more then 2 a day to help my sugar craving.

Today marks the ending of my 2nd week, at about 244-245 lbs. Scale has been playing with me and is getting me down some. I was hoping to loose atleast 2 pounds last week, but I'm hoping it'll go down more by next wednesday.

My daily calorie intake over the last few days has been about 1700-2300, I've been doing 45 minute walks everyday except yesterday, so I did a little 20 minute exercise at home. Goal is to be 240 by the end of the month, hope I can do it.

Prakas! Good to see you!

Scales can be evil. Have you taken measurements? Sometimes they give us a better idea of how we're doing. Measurements can sometimes give you a bit of motivation when that scale becomes evil.

I just got back from a walk. Beautiful over here again. Though, it's hot and I wish it were raining just a bit! I hope that you enjoyed your walk today as well.

Good luck on your goal of 240 by the end of the month. I think you will reach your goal!
