Time now: 12.45am

I am so tired now. Got off work and then brought a Philippines colleague downtown to a place called Glutton Square for a local meal. Yea what a name! Fed her well with teh tarik, chicken & beef satay, fried hokkien prawn mee, bbq stingray with sambal sauce, kaya toast with chicken floss and egg, fried oyster omelette (chinese style). dessert was longan with sea coconut.

Ordered small portions of each cos there were only 3 of us. i managed to pass most of the mee to the other 2. I think I had a reasonable portion. The bbq stingray was so gooood i wish I can have 2! Philippines colleague was so funny... she wrote down everything she ate ever since she arrived here. The food fascinated her alot. It's good that she also loves spicy food so I don't have to special order for any of the dishes.

I reached home at 11pm and forced moi to go on the elliptical for 40 min. So far I have been a good gal ever since the machine arrived on Sat. Did at least 8 miles in a session. I might try upping the intensity 2 weeks later.

My calves are ballooning up again. I think I look like a guy from behind. When will those nice slim legs appear?

That's wonderful that you still managed to put forth such effort after a busy day. I do not have the strength to exercise at night at least not like that on an elliptical or treadmill. I think stretching is supposed to help a lot and working out all of the leg muscles equally is important, but I did just read an article that suggested going forwards and backwards on the elliptical to provide 'opposite muscle exertion' (but I'm not suggesting this I'm only sharing what I read on the fitness site). I don't know I think I'll deal with bulky legs for a while as long as I'm losing fat.

LMAO.....THe kitty pics are so cuite. You are a busy gal.
Way to go on the eliptical you are really getting those workouts in.
I am going to take your advice and when tom comes next month I am going
to preplan everymeal and be broke that week lol,Have a gr8 day Tammy

Hey, love your journal. I'm soooo asian and love seeing a fellow asian trying to lose weight. I feel a sense of comradarie...=) We're also the same height, that pic you took by the beach, you look awesome! you're at 130? wow, I'm at 136 and losing 6 pounds is not going to make me look as good as you...

Chicken satay..yummy! I dont know all the other stuff but it could be just a wee bit spicy for me. Your evening sounds like fun though. I can't believe you did the elliptical at 11pm! I also have an elliptical but I'm too tired after work, and I usually get home at 6pm (but I take care of the baby til 8:30pm so still busy). Well, you should be seeing this tomorrow morning, so hope you have a great day Pinkydolly!

I always assume that Singapore must have great foods because of all the people who passed through bringing their own culinary traditions with them. The satay I love. The other dishes I'm not so familiar with, but I always like to try new things.

lukewarm - ha i knew i had to get on that machine after that heavy local meal. I've not been to those kind of eating place for a loooong time!

tammy - i am not as busy as the many gals on this forum. Working.... taking care of kids (u hv 4! sometimes 7!!).... enduring 'irritating' hubbies/bfs haha..... finishing up housechores.... balancng the bills. Oh manz! How they do it?! I need to make up for lost time after wasting 4 months. Back with vengeance! Hmmm was that someone else's nick or diary name on this forum? Ha.

mnexercisegirl - whopppeeee! great to see ya here too. comradarie? *Suddenly thinks of China communists*.... lol.
Where do you stay? I can't figure out ha. I'm 130 with lots of fat % i think. U don't look 136! If the AV is u, you are kinda slim and pretty already! You remind me of Michelle Yeoh the actress heh.

Blancita - chicken satay is yummy, the sauce is not so spicy too cos it's more peanutty than anything else. Ok... so u are one of the ultrawoman I was telling tammy about. I respect you!

Cannon - yea u mentioned your love for satay before. U hv restaurants selling them at your side? Alot of ppl migrate to Singapore early century. Guess that's why we are such a 'rojak' country. And our standard of English has unfortunately been affected. We call it Singlish sometimes. Ha.

I LOVE spicy food. The only other person I know that loves it as much as I do is my mom. Back in my nacho eating days :sigh: we'd eat chilis and jalapenos like chips. I haven't had anything really spicy in a long time. You have me craving hot stuff :) And I agree about all the superwomen on the forum. I'm awed too! Hope you're having a nice...morning, correct?

Yo Lukewarm, yepyep... it's correct. Morning here....

Mum passed me all the craze for spicy hot stuff too. R all mums like dat? Lol.
I must be careful not to let my snickers craze get to my kid when I am older.
-----------------------
Has anyone have friends who try to sabotage your effort when you have lost some weight visibly? Do you go when they invite you for suppers & dinners knowing full well what kind of stuff will be on the table just SEDUCING you to pick up the chopsticks and bring them into the mouth?????? :drooling:

Or the other kind just sabotage the friendship. They just dun wan to go out with you and talk with u anymore because u are smaller than they are.

I HAVE, and it's a weird sad situation. Actually I've only experienced the first scenario. What's happening, are your friends doing this to you?

Big time sabotage!!!

You are definitely not alone. Most of my friends dont talk to me at all anymore. Maybe because I am making it and they aren't, maybe because I am not interested in going out for high calorie meals or nights of wild debauchery, or perhaps simply because they think I will not be interested in doing the same things anymore.

Could be many different reasons, but it is 100% true. The only foreigner left here in the city that has any interest in talking to me is a very bad girl who is VERY obvously trying to get more than just a "coffee date" from me like she keeps talking about. Or at least did till I blocked her from MSN and stopped answer her calls (thank you call display!) This particular girl has a history of sordid relationships and has no problem trying to seduce married men. I of course avoid her like the plague. I dont even know why she bothers, since I already have a sexy and beautiful wife so why would I ever consider a girl looking for a fling?

But as for the other friends. I know for some feel bad around me because they see me as being "lucky" and the weight loss being "easy" so they are a little envious. Others simply know I dont want to go drink beer and eat pizza EVERY night of the week till 2am so stopped calling. Others still just figure they are doing me a favor by not tempting me.

In any case, I have very few friends left in real life here. Only Chinese friends who all think I am completely insane for wanting to lose MORE weight, since they all think I look awesome already. But then again, being big here is a good thing in their eyes. Most of the other people here are so skinny that being a big guy has its appeal. But at least they respect the fact I want to be healthier and are very supportive, even when they consider me crazy.

lukewarm - yeap. thankfully not all.:)

sirant - Heh. I suppose u have a fan club in SZ?
That's a wise thing to do. Fleeing from that gal. Foreigner... meaning from the west? She sounds young.. is she? But i guess it's becoming a global epidemic... infidelity and such irresponsible behavior. Sad. That wld be common in China too? Esp when HK men go there often for working trips. Or at least that's what being potrayed many times in HK tv dramas.

There's a chinese saying about being big and strong as a bull. Guess they must like this particular foreign bull very much. :rotflmao:

Lots of problems.....

They do like BIG ones here. Even the grandmas all pat my belly and tell me in chinese they wish their sons or grandsons looked like me. Big means you eat well. Eating well means strong, strong means hard working and hard working means lots of money to take care of againg parents.... :) Plus Budhha was no skinny minny either, and who doesn't like him? :)

There is an area nearby my office that is right next to the border with hong kong that is famous for "kept women". Girlfriends for HK men. Lots of VERY rich looking but generally nasty women always flocking around that area.... Probably the storyline of many a hong kong soap! :)

The "bad girl" is Russian actually and very VENOMOUSLY denies any similarity to westerners. Why she so agressively chases me I have no idea....

And infidelity is a HUGE problem here. I can, in all honesty, say I am one of perhaps 3 men here, foreign or otherwise, who I know of who do NOT cheat on their wives or girlfriends. Especially the foreigners. TOo many young girls wanting to practice english and willing to do whatever it takes to land a boyfriend. I have had offers here from girls who know full well I am married, but dont mind being the "other woman". Luckily for me the entire concept of infidelity is lost on me. Not so much for purely moral reasons, though that comes into it of course, but simply for the work involved.

First you need to start lying to the wife, then to the girlfriend, then to the friends who saw you and either one of them on the street or in a restaurant, then to your coworkers, then... and then.... and then..... Seems an awful lot of work to remember all the lies and counter lies. Seems like WAY too much effort to me. I would rather just have one good one and not need to lie to anyone. When people ask me who that hot chick was on my arm walking down the street I can tell them every time, with no hesitation, that was my wife. Though I fear someday people might get the wrong impressions about my daughter.... Lots of "dirty old men" here who come to china looking for sexy YOUNG wives. And by golly they get them. My daughter is going to be gorgeous and a BIG problem for this over protective daddy. But not only will I be chasing away the young boys who come knocking at my door, but I am afraid I may knock out the first dirty old man who comes to congratualte me on my sexy girlfriend..... Oh well, I will cross that bridge when I come to it. For now she is just a super cute little 8 year old. Once she turns 18 though I plan on being back in wrestling shape so I can make all the young suiters think twice.... :) I plan on sitting in the living room wearing workout gear and lifting BIG barbells any time a young feller comes by.... Heh....

She doesn't understand what that means yet when I tell her, but soon enough she will.... :D

Such a mean old daddy!!!

So why do those men still wana cheat? Aren't their wives good enuf? Or they duno how to spend $ and decide to just give it away to those women?
There's an indonesian island, Batam that's abt 45 min ferry ride from Singapore. Sadly, many married retirees have kept women there. Some even spent their entire retire savings on them.

Not sure if you have a son. Can always rope him in to protect his gorgeous sister too. Heh...
My uncle has gone as far to train my nephew to screen calls for my 2 nieces. Helped the older niece in fending off lots of buzzing 'flies' too. :p
I'll get him to train my son (if i ever get married) next time. But for now, quite happy to be single and unattached. Hearing many stories of divorce, violence and infidelity is scary.

Yes it is sad really and beign ceated on is horrible and hard to get over as well...Ive often wondered why men cheat or why mine did anyway - lol - but im finally over it all and happy agian...it only took 3 yrs - ha ha ha -   But at least now I can laugh abt it instead of crying :):):)

cerella - u r one strong woman and alot of us on WLF know that. u will be a model to look up to for those who face similar situations.

-------

just finished another 40 min on elliptical. i find myself guessing when I'll start perspiring profusely lol. To see beads of perspiration rolling down to my socks is SO MOTIVATING :jump:

weighed myself after shower and i saw 130. hopefully when I wake up in the morning, it'll be 129. I really wana see 120s again. Hmm... that means the dinner with philippino colleague didn't do much damage. That's good!

Ok goin to oink oink now... cya lovely ones tomorrow! To those in different time zone, have a fantastic day.:)

Gosh, I so wish I could see 130! That avatar is about a year old and when I was spinning 5 times a week for an hour. Right now I go to bed seeing 138-139 and waking up to 136. It's weird though, I saw 130 about a month and a half ago, before starting my new job. but thanks so much for the sweet comment!
