Photocrazed - Journey to a Healthy lifestyle

it was 65 yesterday and 61 when i got off the train at 6:30 this morning - the only complaint is they havne't turned off the heat in my building yet so my apartment was about 110 degrees... with al the windows open :) ugh too hot..

Well, it really was an accident for us. I wash cars every year, but hubby normally is doing other things. We drove to the car wash and they were closed at 6pm so we came home and washed the cars together for the first time in years. I enjoyed it! Spending time together and getting in some movement and cleaning the cars all at the same time.

aaawww that is sweeet - I cant wait till the weather is warm enough to wash the car by hand agian - the car washes just dont get them clean enough it seems...and I wash my car with my girls soooo - it is bonding/quality time as well

I wish I could wash my own car. We live in the country though and it would just make a muddy mess. So I stick with the carwash!! Have a great day!!:)

Well, when I was going to type this, I knew all the good exciting things I was going to write, but a stupid phone call and frustrations later left me feeling like.. blah! So, who knows where this will go.

While out of town, I did a "photo shoot" (haha) for my best friend who is a realtor and needed a head shot for her real estate cards and for other marketing purposes. We went outside at the cabin and I took about 60 shots in various settings and with different angles etc etc. While many of them turned out great, a lot just didn't have the look I felt her card needed, but a few were great, (In my unprofessional opinion). The photo that was chosen was cropped and resized for different sizes because I wasn't sure exactly the size she needed, and didn't want anyone else screwing with the photo and degrading the quality.

She called me yesterday to inform me that she had about 500 marketing recipe post cards going out with the photo and everyone that she worked with wanted to know where she had her photo taken. :D Made me feel really good, however, I digress.

Got an email from my Linguistics professor this morning that class was canceled today. I should make use of this time and go get on the treadmill soon.

How do I feel? Legs: sore from squats yesterday. Pretty tired from either sleeping too much or too little not sure which because I don't recall the time when I went to sleep. I know I dreamed a lot about world fighting, and you may laugh but, I am a gamer and played Lord of the Rings The Battle for Middle Earth last night before bed. I think this had something to do with the dreams.

Breakfast
1 Cup Kashi Go Lean
3/4 Cup Skim Milk.

way to go on the mad photo skillz :D that's awesome... it could be a nice little side business :)

Exactly what I was thinking. Photography is so awesome. Some of the pictures you can capture......

My mother-in-law and girls she works with, wanted me to submit a pic I had taken of my son and my dog "investigating" a frog last spring. Similar to my avatar, but they were both laying on their bellies just staring at this frog only inches away. It's too cute.

Hope you have a great day!

Great job on the photos - photocrazed. I seriously forgot that you like taking photos although how I could possibly forget given your screen name is beyond me! Have a great day!

I was going to say the same thing. If you love taking pics, why not make it a side business?

Good morning. :)

seriously - with people doing family christmas cards etc - you'd be cheaper than a studio - -and probably provide just as good if not better work - or just plain portait photography -

or work with realtors and do photography of properties they're selling for websites or brochures...

Wow, you guys have a lot of great ideas! Although, I'm not sure I'm confident enough with my abilities to be paid to take photos. I'll definitely keep that in mind though.

OK. 2.5 miles on the treadmill 39 minutes. still did mainly walking on an incline didn't want to push too hard, although I did run for about 6 minutes or so.

Hey - you shouldn't forget about it though :) I have a friend who is assisting a professional photographer at weddings and events. He is a really talented photographer but he said he's learning so much! I know you are super-busy now but think about it for the future. Training on the job and outside school hours! :D

Good job on the treadmill :D Glad you aren't pushing too hard. :)

Nice work on the treadmill today.
Do you have any photos you've taken that you'd wanna share with the rest of the class? :p I'd love to see some of your work!

If you're doing it for friends, keep some of the better shots in a portfolio and build your portfolio... and volunteer your services to friends (even if it's just working for beer or food :)

Most professional type photographers will take 100s of photos and get one or two really good ones... that's one of the joys of digital cameras :)

If there are pictures you've taken - especially in and around your area like nature shots -frame them - and ask a local business (hair salon, restaurant, etc) if they would display them for you - and maybe offer them for sale but sometimes justthe displaying gets your name out.

::hi my name is maleficent and i'ma pushy agent type :

I love taking pictures of my kids and doing stuff on Photoshop. If you're thinking about it check out this website:
He's a great resource and teaches classes. Click on "read my journal" and you'll be able to see a list of classes. It's spendy ($300/class), but I've heard great things about him. I'm thinking about going to the May class in Dallas.

Thanks for the info and I'll try to get some of what I consider my best shots together and upload somewhere.

*sigh*

Well, I have been feeling like a beached whale lately. I'm so upset about the effects of last week and last night wasn't so great. I went grocery shopping and to pick my 'cripts up at the pharmacy after seeing the doc and getting xrays for my knee. ...
<tangent follows>
I guess I'll find out soon what the outcome is, but he seemed optimistic. He checked all the major tendons etc and said if I had damaged the meniscus, my knee would be locking up and I wouldn't be able to walk up a flight of stairs. ..(wonders why they call them flights).. He said that my patella could have popped out of place and then popped back in and that could have caused the sound and the pain, but he still wanted xrays so off to the imaging center I went and had the lady moving and twisting and turning me and finally I was done. Now my knee had a dull ache due to the movement I guess. I saw the xrays and they looked fine to me. hehe you know since I know how to read them and all.
</tangent>
...so the doc had me pick up an ace bandage and said to keep it wrapped for the next week and take it easy which I of course asked if I could still get on the treadmill and do my strength training and he said yes, no sports though.

But at the store, I saw the chocolate aisle and was able to refuse picking up any chocolate and it was getting sooo tempting and hard. I eventually picked up an Almond Joy Candy Bar 110 cals 12G fat. I carried it around with me the rest of the trip and then put it back down before checking out.

I came home had a small salad cause hubby wasn't home and then he came home 2 hrs later and wanted Mexican. I obliged and ordered a chicken & bean quesadilla. I was still craving chocolate!! I finally asked him if he wanted some no bake cookies and them made them. ARRRRGH. I had several tbsp peanut butter and then had probably 3/4- 1 cup of the still warm cookies before they hardened. In the end I realized had I taken that silly Almond Joy bar, I probably would have been sated and not made the no bake cookies which had to have been WAY more calories and a ton more fat!

This morning, I cut up all the cookies except a small amount for him to have later and sent them to work with him. I do not plan to touch them. They are his cookies! Please let me have the willpower to not touch them!

Doc called, no fluid, misalignment of fractures with my knee.
Guess this means I should be good soon!

I've realized that sometimes it's best to just go with the craving - as long as you know what you want - you'll end up with fewer calories and satisfaction than more calories and non- satisfaction.

Today's a new day - hope its a terrific one

:] you will know next time
dont worry though cos its all a learning curve - now you'll know how bad you felt when it comes to making the decision again. hope you are ok - glad to hear your knee is getting back ontrack x

Yea,I Totally agree! I've found myself eating a bunch of low cal things to satisfy my craving, till i realize it was the same amt of cals as what i wanted to begin with!! lol

Oh well, live and learn...hey PC, hope you have a great day :)

Great News!! Wow, alot has happened since I last stopped in. Cravings are hard to deal with, but I am amazed at how I rarely crave anything after I can prove to myself that I dont have to give in. :) Hope your day is better today.
Oh, and by the way, you are definately not a whale!! I know the feeling though...
