Petals diary

I think counting your calories always makes sense, kind of a calibration for your plan. I suspect the SW plan you have is well thought out, and designed to be easier to follow than calorie counting. And I suppose its possible that all calories are not created equal, some food may be more fattening per calorie than others. That last point is just me speculating, I really have no idea.
legarra pizza Milanos
Found the website and showed it to a pizza shop manager I know tonight. He's thinking about it, but I guess it presents some crust construction problems. That was his concern, but he did see the attraction. From the consumers point of view I like it!

And I suppose its possible that all calories are not created equal, some food may be more fattening per calorie than others.
I don't think necessarily more or less fattening, but more or less satiating. Sugar without fiber doesn't have to be more fattening than protein if eating it means you want to munch again half an hour later.

1600 sounds okay, especially if you do a bit of exercise and can bring it up to 1800 or so.

I had a Milano pizza a couple of weeks ago, it was so nice.

It’s interesting looking at the calories . I thoughmy main meal would be more but I have 200 cals left for today now . I may or may not use later .
Also I have stuck to my SW plan. I’m double dieting haha but I doubt I’ll have double weight loss if any .

back to work tomorrow not too excited about that .

Oh, I love all this! The night-out dressing-up (with strappy sandals!) and the feeling fantastic and the polenta cake and brambly walk and the pizza and everything - you sound so much on a roll! :beating:

All the best for work today - for everyone to welcome you back with extreme niceness!

(And brilliant about Rob spreading the word about the leggera salad pizza - healthier eating takes over the world! :hurray:)

Double dieting to see what the Slimming World plan is based on does sound interesting.

Lama it actually is interesting . I’m not going to do it for long because I think I could get too fixated on it . One reason I never liked to count calories or points ( ww ) is I mentally saved them for the evening and I can see I would start to do that again .
by my reckoning SW probably has based a plan on a consumption of 1400 to maybe 1800/1900 a day , depending on your food choices . It restricts high sugar /processed food to approx 300 cals a day . And eat freely of salad fruit veg protein ( not dairy or grains, nuts , they are restricted too)
I like to not worry about what I can eat later in the day so will drop the cal counting after a few days .
I am also drinking lots of water . It’s been interesting though . Might keep it up until aftef next weigh in .
Thank you Amy , work was fine and busy .

The SW plan sounds well thought out, Petal & if it works for you without actually having to count calories, then it's a winner. If you are mostly making healthy choices with your extras then that's a win too. I don't like feeling obsessive about my food either & that's why I'm hoping 5:2 works well for me. Your everyday "diet" sounds very healthy & well-balanced to me & seems to suit you well.

I think the SW diet does sound pretty much like good sensible eating - what I think would be especially helpful about SW is the group support, inspiring and encouraging each other. Are you very regular about going? Do you find the people (not the group leader) helpful?

After reading what you say about the SW plan it sounds to me like something I might want to transition to for maintenance. Counting calories has been good for me, but I don't really want to do it forever. I looked it up and although there is a Slimming World USA it seems to be mostly limited to online things. No meetings in Utah.
One reason I never liked to count calories or points ( ww ) is I mentally saved them for the evening
Guilty of that!

Hope work goes well for the week Petal!! I’m just as excited about work as you are :) lol, I tried slimming world once!! It works for so many people, lost 6 pounds the first week, but my consultant was like a witch, not really approachable and not nice to me so I fled lol!!!!! Funny story for ya!! I think Ireland might be getting some snow this week:) ( not fond of snow lol)

Sounds like a healthy diet to me and if it keeps you from obsessing that´s all the more healthy!
Yes I used to and would still be inclined to obsess lots . And obsessing actually makes me want to eat .
Glad your day was good. Hope the next weigh-in is a success.
I don’t think tomorrow’s will be but next week should hopefully

Cate yes it does the job for me and I think calories wise it is similar to your 5:2 plan . It’s great we have found plans that work for us .
Amy I am very good and I go every week unless I am away like last week . I have started to stay to the support group too as I had not done for a while . I was tired and found it too late but I changed to a different time which helps .
Rob they are mainly a uk company . I think they offer a good online but this forum is just as good . I think you will transition to maintainance ok with what you have here . When I eventually get to maintenance at class I will let you know what I can and can’t eat !
kate my consultant is lovely but I have known some that are not . And yes some snow is forecast .

Do you ever speak at the meeting afterwards? I did a fitness/weight loss group for a while in a gym years ago but I hated it, to be honest. It really got me into exercise, but the talking about food and our weight for an hour and a half was not great. Some of the girls just grated. I also hated people telling me I'd 'lost loads' - it made me feel worse, for some reason. Ugh, unhappy memories. Anyway.

Hi, Petal. I hope work is ok this week. It's always hardest after a break. Obsessing over food makes me want to eat & eat. I'm glad 5:2 has me levelled out. I do think about food a lot on FDs but I know I can have whatever I want on non-FDs, but then I don't usually bother. It's good that you can factor in sweet treats when you really want them. I hope your work week flies xo

I expect the consultant/group leader would make all the difference in SW or similar groups. I know one hint of judging (or sneering) and I'd have been out the door!
I bet that's why you hated hearing you'd "lost loads", Emily - implicit in there is how much they'd been eyeing us off before, and deciding how much they thought we ought to lose, etc etc.
I hate hearing it too, especially when it comes from people who've seen me in between times - ie they've seen me after I've lost the weight, but they're obviously still remembering me as fatter, so they're surprised all over again every time they see me. Urk. I just have to keep thinking I'm not doing this for them, I'm doing it for me.
Petal - you say you've started to stay for the support group - but I thought that's what SW was? What else is there - just a weigh-in? I'm glad they've changed the time. I bet you'd be a great help to people there - as you are here! :)

I think it's time you treat yourself to a small Hawaiian shirt to show off all you have achieved .
Thank you, and with a little encouragement from Cate I did. Had to order it, no one in Utah sells a decent Hawaiian. I can however get some real nice cowboy shirts here.

My new Hawaiian, on the way. Not exactly what I had in mind, but it was the closest I could find, and it looks good.

That looks super Rob . Well done . Thank you all for replies and I have not got time to reply to everyone individually. Yep I speak but only really when asked etc and I tell them what I am doing . There are some people who love the sound of their own voices and I found them irritating last night I admit . And it is repetitive but I still enjoy it and get something out of it . We do get good ideas and it’s nice that everyone is in the same boat . Amy I was just getting weighed only there for a while as I did not have time to stay for group . So I changed to a different class time which although is still a rush I can attend in full . It takes a good hour minimum and can go to 1.5 hours .
Ok so I gained 1 lb but I’m fine with that . I think in hindsight I’m lucky it wasn’t more .
So my sister in law is doing this too and we have both agreed a reset this morning . That means back to treating this like the first week and sticking 100 per cent to plan and journal all our food .

That´s really nice that you now have a meatspace weightloss companion!
