Petals diary

A good food day yesterday stayed exactly on plan . A busy day too with lots of work and study time . I was dead tired by 10 pm and gave up and went to bed .

Well done sticking to plan despite the stress AND getting enough sleep.

Thank goodness for bed, and a chance to restore from the frazzles and exertions of the day. Cheers and solidarity for sticking to the plan!

Yet another busy day yesterday, they all abit like Groundhog Day now really. Another ok food day though. Hoping to make my lovely soup this morning. Going to eat lots of wholesome food this weekend and stick to plan.

I like the sound of all of that - except for the groundhog part. Can we eat the groundhog? Tomorrow I´m going to make a crossover soup with your recipe and the one I found yesterday.

Hi Petal - nice job with keeping the weight loss going. I agree with Rob that going slow is by far the best way. Btw, what are you studying?

Look forward to hearing all about it . My soup is good today . I added some celery also .

Hi Jack nice to see you I personally am not studying but helping my daughter out with stuff . However I feel like I am learning lots . I am however doing a good bit of research for a friend for some charity set ups so it keeps me busy enough .

Thanks for visiting diary Rida . That’s what I am hoping for !

Groundhog Day
That's not so bad, didn't the guy get better each time?

I had a bad groundhog experience a few years ago. Had one dig its den under my foundation, I was worried he was damaging it and so decided to get rid of him (should have watched Caddie Shack first). My initial try was a live trap to relocate him, after catching the neighbor's cats, a couple of possums and a raccoon, but no groundhogs I gave up on that. Then I decided to try and flood him out, but just succeeded in flooding my basement without much effect on the groundhog. Then I upped my game and got a kind of toxic smoke bomb for groundhogs and put it in his hole, it took several days to air my house out, but the ground hog was still fat and happy. Getting desperate I decided to shoot him, problem was my house was in town so I had to be careful, so I sat quietly for hours waiting to get him into a spot that was safe to shoot with my 22 caliber pistol. When he finally did I found that my pistol marksmanship wasn't very good, the groundhog ran off uninjured. Meanwhile he kept digging and I was really getting worried about my foundation. Finally I got my out 30 06 hunting rifle, with the scope I am (or used to be) a pretty good shot. I was concerned both about safety and attracting attention shooting it in town. So I found a place that would be safe to shoot into that I could hit from inside the house through the door open, I sat for a long time curtains drawn with the lights out and finally got a shot and ended the groundhog problem. That was about 20 years ago, and the last time I shot my rifle. Don't want to have to that again, fortunately we don't have groundhogs in Utah.

Rob thank you I so so enjoyed reading that and was waiting with bated breath for the end . Poor groundhog though . I can imagine they do a lot of damage . We catch and kill a lot of rodents here but thankfully no groundhogs .
Husband loves caddy shack !!

A good day yesterday. I walked around town which was lovely . Met my cousin who I had not seen in a while. I made my butter bean soup which even though I made a lot i will be making more tomorrow. I also put a beef casserole in the oven and cooked it for 3.5 hours . Served it with extra steam veg and mash potato . Helped my daughter with some work and I watched The Heat with Melissa McCarthy . Went to bed and slept for over 8 hours ! I never do that.

Making granola bars today and possibly roast chicken dinner. Not sure on what else is happening yet.

Sounds like an excellent day! Love the sound of the s-l-o-w-cooked casserole - beautifully tender, I suppose? And the delicious extra steamed veg and mashed potato - what a great meal!
Walking around town - I did a fair bit of that myself today - saw all sorts of things, including a skilled practitioner doing a form (tiger?) of tai chi, and a club demonstrating women's self-defence techniques for girls - ie for slightly-built teenagers. Meant to go to museum, but time slipped away just enjoying the fresh air and people-watching. :)

Sleeping enough and prepping good food sound excellent to me :)
Thanks it was good.

Amy the meal was really tender. The beef melted in my mouth.
Had a lovely day yesterday listening to Andre rieu concert while I pottered about at chores. Invited my family here for a day before xmas then remembered last night I'm out late the night before at a show so now I'm panicking but I'm sure it will be ok.
Amy your day in town sounds more interesting than mine . Went again yesterday and we spent some time looking st xmas decorations but didn't buy any yet.
Dinner last night was chicken stir fry and noodles. Mostly ate on plan except for a teaspoon of ice cream, 3 crisps out of a bag and some homemade granola bar . Hard not to eat when I made it .

You´ll be fine. Whatever preparation needs to be done can be done two days in advance as well as one and I´m sure they won´t arrive at 7 am.
Being able to eat just one bite of icecream sounds like witchcraft to me!

Sounds like you did real well. I think you are impressively finding a way to eat "normally" without overdoing it. Not something that I would find easy.

I agree with LaMa, I am sure you will do fine with your family before Christmas thing. You strike me as a very competent host and organizer. I also believe you will enjoy doing it.

:iagree: Agreeing with Rob - you've got this in the bag, Petal! And it's great fun planning a Christmas menu - is there any family-traditional dishes that will definitely be part of it? Do you make a pudding weeks ahead?

:iagree: too. You'll think of something to produce on Xmas eve, Petal. You are very competent xo
