Petals diary

Ah ok, that's interesting. Yep, traffic is great. Hope the lunch situation sorts itself out. Can you change them back? I remember I used to eat lunch at 12 in an old job and it was miles too early.

chips from the chippers.

This made me smile.

I love hearing expressions that I have only read about in books. "The chippers" I hadn't seen for years :)
Hope you can switch around your hours to fit in a lunch, Petal. I can eat any time between 12 & 2, but if I skip lunch then dinner is dangerous.

I don't think I've ever seen "the chippers" - I think I've seen "chippery", though. There's so much cultural baggage and (for me, and I guess many of us) warm memories tied up with chips that it's not surprising that we like the idea of eating them - but I agree, Petal, the idea can be better than the actual experience - maybe the first two or three, when they're crisp and hot (with salt and lemon) but not so much after that.

I have never heard of lemon on chips . On fish yes. I am back to normal eating hours now . Had an ace day yesterday following my plan . Actually had a great day went out with a dear friend for lunch then I cooked some fresh hake for dinner. I might make fish cakes with the remainder today . I was going to get up this morning and go to the lakes but it's so foggy and horrible drizzly weather I have caught up with some overdue correspondence with some friends . Whilst lying in bed. I'm missing outdoors now though so hopefully will get out later. Weather has been rotten last couple of days.

Well LaMa to me you are a angel . :angelsad2::angelsad2::angelsad2:

My eyes are really hurting and weeping this morning . I'm struggling to read I think I need yet another stronger script so I'll check in on rest of diaries later .

Oh, brilliant, about
...caught up with some overdue correspondence with some friends
That's such a win-win, making both ends of the correspondence feel good. :) And brilliant about your whole day yesterday, too - I'm impressed with the fresh hake, and then handily turning the remainder into fish cakes! A great gastronomic weekend at your place!
(I meant a squeeze of lemon juice, on the chips. I think it's very standard across Australia, but maybe others will have different experience.)

My clients like to say that the heavens smile when angels travel - any bets on what that makes me?
An :Angel_anim:?

Oh, Petal - I've just seen your new post - I'm so sorry! And I trust you're already away from the screen, resting them. Very sorry indeed that they are hurting.

chips from the chippers
I have to guess on this one, I assume your chips are the same as our french fries, and maybe the chippers describes a place that makes the french fries? To me chips from the chipper brings up visions of what you get out of a chipper destroying tree limbs and of other vegetation. We can get free compost from our city's chipper.

Makes me feel good to see you doing well, hope your weather improves.

Yep a chipper is a place they deep fry everything . Chips and fish and chicken . Actually makes me feel ill thinking on it .
now in Scotland you can get a deep fried mars bar

in Scotland you can get a deep fried mars bar
Thanks for the video, sounds like a terrible idea. Apparently fried butter is getting to be popular at fairs in the US. Never tried it, and I can't see any rationale for doing it. I can imagine a fried mars bar might taste good, hard to imagine fried butter does.
My eyes are really hurting and weeping this morning
That's awful, hope it gets better very soon. The air in Utah is very dry, sometimes that irritates my eyes, not fun.

Noooooooooooooo, don't deep-fry sweet things! Everything umami gets better with a hot, crunchy outer layer, but sweets and pure fat? :puke:

Lama I am with you on that . Rob deep fried butter sounds gross and like a heart attack waiting to happen.

I have read most of your diaries . I will reply on and off during the day as I dip in and out . I had the most horrific headache last night . Thankfully it eased over night but going to relax the eyes more for a bit so will not spend hours at a time screen watching.

Take care of your eyes - you only get one pair.
