Petals diary

Thanks and to you all. I have some free time today so a choice of housework or going for a browse and spend some vouchers I have . Think I might go out . House can wait .

Had a lazy morning so far. I am thinking I might start back with some regular exercise I have let it slide . The fact I'm losing weight by food alone is great so exercise will tone me up. I don't want to do so much I end up eating more if that makes sense .

Sure it does, if something is working you need to be careful changing it too much. Some exercise will help you of course.

Do you grow your own strawberries? I thought you once said you had an acre of ground, am I remembering right?

Completely sense you make. Exercise a lot and you´re going to be in a bigger deficit so your body will ask for more food.

Yes you recall correctly but didn't grow any strawberries this year . Have had a few failed attempts

Which I don't think I'm ready to deal with yet. But I need some exercise . Keep to the gentle stuff for now .

I'm going to gradually increase my exercise too, Petal. I'm not ready to deal with an increased hunger either. You're doing so well & have a nice balance happening, xo

Yes I keep active and busy anyway. Yesterday I shopped , parked in one spot and walked everywhere. It was a lovely day so enjoyed it . And I still do lots of hikes which are slow but fun.

I bought a yoghurt yesterday which looked interesting a high protein one with chocolate sprinkles , had less than 90 cals and less than 5g of sugar. Lindahls stacciatella . It was really nice but I won't get too often as there were additives which I always try to keep to a minimum.

I still like a bit of a sweet fix everyday and can work it in so it's not too bad I suppose .

No Emily not yet but I did get some books for my daughter and few other bits . I bought curtains too but not with vouchers . I spent too long chatting with friend and less time shopping. LaMa I think I have finally clicked at 50 years of age that I need my treats and to eat what I enjoy . I'm lucky that I love fruit salad veg and lots of healthy stuff so I mainly concentrate on that. Also I love unhealthy stuff more like sweets and cake ( not takeaway or pizza stuff ) so I have a little of that. Also learned that a bad meal choice or snack choice doesn't mean I give up . It's just a meal or a snack .
Went out for lunch today . I had a pan fried halumni salad . Not sure of spelling . Two pieces of the cheese but I just ate one . Enjoyed it .
Some garden centre shopping then and few other bits . Nice day . Paper work calls now for a while .

For the older ladies ( or anyone ) any ideas . I have bad aches in top of my thighs ,arms , shoulder . Bothering me a bit recently . I'm thinking menopause . Maybe I need magnesium or something

Halloumi is good stuff but if you try to eat it cold you´ll find it squeaks between your teeth. So weird!

So glad you can incorporate treats into your meals and it works well for you! I love buying books. If I get weird pains in multiple body parts I tend to first drink a lot of water and see if it is muscles cramping for lack of water. Otherwise, sorry, no idea, but hope it goes away soon!!!

Marsia I think it could be that partly . Seems worse at night too lying down .

LaMa it did squeak I didn't like that much. Also I like it sliced a bit thinner .

Petal, I take magnesium every day as I do get cramps without it. I also take rose hip capsules each day for osteoarthritis.
I don't like the squeakiness of halloumi either.

I had to look that one up, never heard of halumni before. Is it a goat/sheep's milk cheese? And how does one fry a salad? It all sounds interesting.

I like cheeses of all kinds, I don't usually say which cheese I am eating, maybe I should. The only cheese I can think of that we get that squeaks are fresh cheese curds. I like them, but the ones we get don't have a lot of flavor, just a lot of squeak!

Thanks Cate I have a general women's supplement for my age to use up , it's been sitting in the cupboard. I'll take it and see how I get on it has magnesium in it and lots of water from today on.

Rob the halloumi was fried and on top of the salad. The salad was just lettuce onion pepper tomato I think. Pretty basic but I didn't fancy any of the unhealthiest options .

Just hearing about salads has me thinking it's time I had one. When you say pepper, do you mean capsicum, Petal?

If your halloumi was still squeaky they didn´t fry it hard enough. We call it grilling cheese because you can simply put it on the grill and it won´t melt so you can really blast it. Only works, as you say, if the slices aren´t too thick.
I´m going to be a non-native speaker here and be amused by the pepper/capsicum thing as by etymology both mean the exact same thing and neither is specific to either sweet or hot (again, just going by where the words come from). I assume you both mean sweet/bell pepper.

As a native speaker, who may not have quite your grasp on the language, I don't understand the difference either. In the southern US dialect I learned we didn't use the word capsicum, had to learn it in college as a technical term.
