Petals diary

Hi Petal - I'm a big fan of long, slow walks myself. I think it helps, at least that's what my scale says. It's a lot easier on the joints than jogging or tennis, for example.

Rob , LaMa and Cate we just say peppers here as we don't get too much choice but I am referring to bell peppers . Red is the favoured in my household . We could use 8 per week , very versatile.

Jack long slow walks sound good to me. It's funny because I think in my head I should be spending time at the gym but I hate the gym. Just had a nice little walk albeit not too far.

You "should" be doing things you enjoy :) Weighted exercise would be good for you, but walks are, too. So why not start out with what´s fun and see if more things become appealing over time?

Hi, Petal. Walking is excellent. I don't think I would like going to a gym either. I love going for a walk on my own.
I can't eat capsicum/bell peppers as I am "allergic" to them. They are in so many things when you eat out, often cut up into tiny little pieces. I know I have had them though, the next day, as my feet feel like they are on fire. I can eat chillies, tomatoes & potatoes though, even though they are the same family (deadly nightshade). I'm glad I can eat chillies :)

On the walking, I never had the patience for it, but with a cranky knee, I'm kind of limited to it. It's kind of a nice "zen" thing to do, and easier on the joints as well. Between that and the daily pushups and elbow-knee crunches, I'm finding it's sufficient to keep me at a reasonable weight without too much variance. I haven't been to the gym for a while, thinking of dropping the membership. There's only one problem - the Winter is coming. Brrr...

LaMa I'm going to do my fitness DVD tonight as it's raining I did enjoy it before so maybe ......... it's just a bit of marching and stepping though.
Walking is good, the gym isn’t for everyone.
:iagree:
And with Cate too .

Jack my joints give me grief at times and the walking is the easiest. Maybe you should commit to the gym for the winter ?

I have been busy wit her work and after school stuff with my kid. Ate really well today
Fruit , yoghurt, cereal
Snack - melon ( not as dried up as before )
Lunch - banana ,small wholemeal roll and Greek yoghurt
Dinner - warm bacon on a salad of lettuce, beetroot, tomato and apples with 3 small salad potatoes
Might have a handful of nuts later .

My aim for September is 4lb loss . Achieveable I think.

That's an excellent day, Petal & a very positive aim for September. I am going to take a leaf out of your book & go for the same, xoxo

Yay! for your September goal. September feels like a great month everywhere, doesn't it? Either the relief from long, hot summer, or the amazing new waking-up of spring. :)

I'm going to join you and Cate, and lose four pounds - and do a lot of walking, and eat capsicum/bell peppers (sorry, Cate - I'll eat your ones! Would you like my asparagus in exchange?)

How was the DVD exercise? Did you enjoy it?
Amy, if Cate won´t have your asparagus I´d love to take them!

Thanks ladies . Isn't it funny how when you say 4lb loss for a month it sounds nice and achieveable. And how easy it is to actually put on 4lb but reality it is actually hard to lose. But it's so doable . I'm just going to keep up all the good habits I have implemented over the summer .

LaMa the DVD was fine I just did 20 mins then 10 mins tennis in the garden with daughter. I will try to do 15 mins exercise min daily now . Plus my weekend hikes which I love.

My weigh in is tonight . I actually feel all bloated and heavy and I expect that to show on the scales . Also I am moving from a lunchtime weigh in to a late evening because of school being back.
It's funny in past years I just wouldn't go to class if I thought I was heavier then I would be ona slippy slope but it's a new day tomorrow and I'll regulate back to evening weigh in for next week.

Being able to take things like that in stride is awesome. I hate weighing myself when I feel bloated but on the other hand the next weigh-in will look all the better.

Hi, Petal. The way my body has been for the past couple of years I could put on 4lbs in a few days without trying. We will give this our best shot, Petal. It is doable, but I need to really focus on it & get my body used to hunger again. Not too much hunger, mind you. Just a little bit won't kill me, will it? ;)

Best of luck with your weigh in, but remember you are eating right and exercising, so you have to be losing fat. It won't always show week to week on the scales. You have lost a lot of weight and will continue to.

I always do my weigh in first thing in the morning, based on my weighing all the time experiences I know that weight can be 2 or more lbs less than in the evening. Of course it really doesn't matter just so you are consistent, I just like seeing that lower weight. I've even considered weighing in right out of the shower, but then I'd need to strip down for all my weights to be comparable.

My wife tells me its time to start the peach juicing process, so I've got to go.

Hope the weigh-in went well, Petal! :)
But reading though here, I see I said I'd "do a lot of walking" through September, to join you and Cate, in losing four of those pesky pounds. So I guess I'd better stop this enjoyable diary-reading, and get to it. See you all in a few hours!

Hi LaMa, Rob , Cate and Amy . Thank you for all the comments . Cate I am pleased I wasn't up 4lb !!! Rob yeah it throws me weighing at different time of day. Amy let's get walking !
Well weigh in was ok in that I maintained so I was happy I did not have a gain. The things I will change this week are going back to my food journal and being more aware of what I eat. I didn't mind really as when I look back on my weigh in log this will be my 3rd maintain in my journey and also I had one week where I gained .
One thing I learned from class last night , be prepared . I was out Saturday and I should have had some healthy snacks in my bag and I didn't . I will be more organised this week. Felt really happy and motivated leaving class .

I'm trying to frame preparation as self-care instead of restriction, hoping that'll ease my resistance to it. Yay for being happy and motivated after class!
