Petals diary

It is not easy to lose weight but once you have, you can keep it off, but only by watching what you eat for the rest of your life. That's a hard lesson to learn, but one I need to drum into my head. We can do this Petal. I'm sure we know what to do- now we just have to do it & stick with it, xo Cate.

Well done getting back on track! I don´t feel like I lose weight slower per se but I am finding it harder to be consistent long enough to get to goal. Which is weird, given that time goes quicker with every passing year :)

We can do it Cate . We have done it before just this time we need to stick to it for life .

So I am on day 1 if the Beck method . I dug out some index cards , some stickies and a notebook as she instructed. I have written 9 reasons why I want to lose weight . A few of them are

1. To be able to buy nicer clothes
2. To not hide when someone suggests a photograph
3. To lower my cholesterol
4. To lower my blood pressure
5. To feel comfortable again when walking from and sitting .
6. To fit into my old clothes

And so on.

One problem I’m having a hungry day today . I have distracted a couple of times . I have eaten well today so I shouldn’t be hungry .

Well I guess each and every time we try it does get harder. I think it sticks more every time lol

Your metabolism does slow as you get older, but we'll just have to get ours moving!

Metabolism slows but that´s a matter of decades, not years. Between 30 and 40 it´s usually more about settling into a relationship or family, giving up sports, working long (sedentary) hours and developing more rigid (inactive) habits. The Beck book will be really helpful on all of those fronts!

Yes you are probably right on that LaMa.

I read my list this morning . I feel so more motivated already . One thing I really need to focus on is moving more .

Great day yesterday. I picked up a bag of candy but by time I made it to checkout I had decided I didn’t want or need it . Felt great after . I was really hungry but waited until I got home and had a multi grain roll and ham salad .

My snacks during the day if I’m hungry are almonds or fruit.

Dinner was a Mexican fajita with chicken peppers onion and fresh salsa .

I walked 15000 steps clocking 60 mins exercise .

Saying no to the candy feels way better than the 5 mins eating it .

All of you here are such an inspiration to me .

Congratulations on the loss and well done on all that walking! Sounds like you´re doing amazingly well.

Good morning diary and all who read.
Well a few things going on . Someone close to me having a biopsy today. I’m nervous as they are at the hospital now. I have no idea when we will hear the news . Not sure how long it takes. It’s been a tough few weeks since the C word was mentioned.
Had a good day again yesterday. The fact I’m managing right now is great as I am emotional eater. Same thing happened last night as day before but I chose the right path. I had 40 mins to fill in yesterday evening as I waited for my daughter to do a class. The pull to go buy candy or fast food and sit in the car and read was high. But I said right I will do a lap of the town it takes 10 mins . So I did and then I did it again and once more . Collected daughter then and she got pizzas for her and her friend and I came home and reheated the chicken and peppers etc from night before .
Felt so good .

Well yesterday was an okay-ish day. I did buckle last night and had an ice cream cone. However I did not follow it up with lots more rubbish food. I did not beat myself up about it but just decided to move on.

I am probably a little PMT and perhaps a little emotional. I am keeping busy but also having little rests. Have a nice day planned today I’m going out shopping with my daughter. Here’s to a good healthy day

I think that sounds great! Personally, I’d rather be able to happily enjoy a normal treat like that, without any guilt and without going on a binge after, than simply cut out all dessert altogether. I think that’s a much more moderate habit to get into that you can sustain for a lifetime.

How old is your daughter now? I hope you enjoy shopping! Just made me imagine how fun it sounds to go shopping together once my own kids are old enough. Have a nice day!

I’m late updating today .
Spring flowers my daughter nearly 17. The shopping was fine and the eating was ok .
We did go for pizza as son joined us too but the restaurant offer a 600 cal option which is like a pizza ring with the middle cut out and filled with salad .
Today I had a lovely day . I walked 7km this morning , had guests for lunch . I served salads , lettuce tomato onion etc , hard boiled eggs , ham
, chicken , smoked salmon , nice healthy breads etc . Dessert was fresh berries and a dollop of cream.

The best part of today I did a second walk and I’m going to bed with 20000 steps done . But boy I ache

Already you seem to really be in the groove Petal. You are choosing healthy alternatives even when eating out, you are walking far more than you were & you sound so positive about becoming healthy. One ice cream cone & then not throwing in the towel? You have got this. Well done, you!

I LOVE the sound of that lunch you served!
