Petals diary

That's the important thing: not beating yourself up because you feel bad about not being perfect but trying again right away.

I really agree with LaMa. I gained another 2 pounds in the last couple of days. I have been reading up on a favorite keto/intermittent fasting guy, and it turns out I am insulin resistant (like I guessed I was) and need to both do keto and intermittent fasting. Ugh! But at least I am learning what my body needs!

Marsia do you need to be tested for that ? Is that like diabetes ?
Been really busy with work and school and sorry not got on here . Life seems crazy ! Had some visitors popping in too .
Testing week ahead now all the Halloween candy about . I notice I am actually starting to dislike stuff that tastes very sweet . How strange and good is that

Hi Petal! Glad your taste buds are starting to change so sugar doesn't tempt you so much! That's a wonderful development!!

Insulin resistance is basically pre-diabetes, and there aren't medicines for it, so basically loosing weight and cutting out things that create blood sugar spikes are the cure. I could go get tested to make sure, but cutting out things that make me gain weight is something I should do anyway, and I am not one to go to the doctor unless I have to. I am not a big fan of western medicine when it comes to diet. I think they do a great job with many other things, but that there is no training for doctors about proper nutrition makes me not trust their advise as much about nutrition and how to straighten out weight issues.

Hope you have a great day and that you get some rest in, too!

Lol ladies I hope so too . I have caught up a bit on your diaries .
The days are just flying by . I'm working a little longer hours and not having this website on my phone means it's harder to keep up. I only have it on iPad and as I keep it in bedroom it's not so easy to check . I try to stay off the internet and screens anyway but must try check in more .

Yes sugar really has started tasting too sweet . I notice food with extra salt too . Someone brought a toffeepudding cake here yesterday and I actually threw it out after they left . It was sickly sweet . We just had a little taste .

We have a presidential Election Day here today and also a bank holiday on Monday . Quite pleased about that . Hoping to do some work in the house and keep active .

Had a night off last night from everything and watched tv . Really enjoyed it . Wasn't hungry so just had some crackers grapes and a cheese spread ( one triangle ) .

Marsia I get my blood tested once a year . My cholesterol is high but all else seems ok but I think you maybe right . I'm going to take that quiz now too .

That's great you are staying off the internet in your spare time. I need to hide my computer more when I am not using it for work! Wonderful hearing how you aren't into sugar now! I am shocked that my husband who loves sugar and has a hard time with sugar cravings now doesn't crave it because his taste buds have changed. He lost 8 lbs intermittent fasting and doing low carb so far, and it's only been a couple weeks of him joining me.

Glad you are relaxing and enjoying life! Hopefully your environmental candidates win! Happy long weekend!!!

So I chatted with husband and told him about the quiz. So he encouraged me to try follow his plan with him so will give it a go.
Marsia 8lb in a few weeks is fantastic for your husband. I find it amazing how men lose weight so quickly.

My son really not doing great at the moment . Have never seen him so down. I'm worried about him. He's moving soon so hope that helps him .

Moving´s hard work even when you´re feeling well. I know it always feels to me like I have to climb Everest.

That's great you are joining your husband on his healthy diet! I bet it will really help having each other to keep on track. and then you maybe won't even need the simple carbs in the house to tempt you!

Yeah, it's amazing how fast my husband can lose weight. But he didn't get really off track like I did for big periods of his life, so maybe that is why it's easier for him? He also plays tennis really hard about once a week, so I am sure that helps, too.

I hope the change helps your son. Looking back, I moved after each of my major relationships ended, and that was great for me. I needed a new start and to not look back for a long while, and the new place felt like a new me and a new life. I hope he isn't moving too far away from you guys so you can still keep in touch and visit each other pretty often. To be honest, I can't imagine living far apart from my daughter, though the world is big, and that is a big possibility.

Anyway, hoping the change in diet and food solidarity with your husband really, really help!!!!

Luckily he hasn't much to move being a student . No he will still be same distant from us . It's not far . Marsia at least with technology it's easier to stay in touch .
However on the other hand technology has ruined so much in life I believe .

I ate very little yesterday. Wasn't that hungry . but I was pretty busy all day and had lots of driving to do and errands to run . It was bitterly cold here too , couldn't stand out for long . More the wind chill factor I think . Another busy day here today with lots of household chores planned ! Yuck lol

I left home for college when I was almost 18. Came home pretty much every weekend until I was 23, then moved to another country and since then I´ve been home about three times a year. I´d like to see my family more often but at the same time I don´t feel like they´re that far away. They wouldn´t really be far away even if I lived on Mars.

Hi, Petal. Just caught up with your diary. I'm glad your son won't be far away. I'm going to focus on my health even more in November. It's the most important asset we have. Sending you a hug, xo

LaMa I was 17 and what a huge adventure I had . I moved to study farther away then at 19 and it was a few times a year then. I moved back and forth a bit. Back then contact was a weekly phone call where we set a time and I would go to the local public box and of course letters .

thank you Cate for hug . I agree our health is our wealth

I worked in the house yesterday from 9 am until 8 pm . Hope today not so hectic as I'm aching !

I remember phoning from the dorm phones home (which was 3,000 miles away). I miss adventures like that!

Hope your soreness passes quickly. Nice you got so much done and over with!!

Hope you have a quieter day Petal xoxo
