So far this is turning out to be a crappy day.. my insurance called, they won't pay for the dietitian with a diagnosis of obesity, if I want to see her then I'll have to pay out of pocket. How stupid is that?? But if I was anorexic, they'd pay for all the psychiatry bills, I checked...

I'm on Medicaid.. not because my family is poor but because I was too sick to hold down a job and too old to be covered by my parents insurance. My family isn't rich but we live comfortably. But there are people on the same insurance who don't have the options I do, who are depending on this insurance to make them well. Who can't afford to pay out of pocket for this service that they desperately need. Especially to low income people who probably don't have the education to get their weight under control. It's no wonder obesity is a losing battle in this country. I'm so mad about it right now I can't get my thoughts straight.
 
I'm sorry to hear this pequin...Insurance sucks. They don't REALLY want to help people, they wouldn't make any money off of us that way. Damn shame.

This is why I love the fact that Canada has health care. Sorry to hear about your insurance woes amy.
 
No worries, I can educate myself. If college was good for anything - I know how to do a bit of research. And I was thinking about cancelling the appointment anyway.

It just makes me mad. The same people how are on this insurance are probably getting food support too, which doesn't pay for a lot of healthy food. Kind of makes you feel like your own government doesn't care.

I am sorry to hear about the insurance probs,
my children have the medical card simply because we are not rich
either and hubby's insurance that finally came around was a fortune
and the coverage was BAD! So I kept them on th card because it
covers perscriptions doc emergency's ect!Like Dari said you have us
and your doing such a gr8 job without a dietician I would suggest
if your worried about something wrong but as far as weightloss I
think you found the right place! Have a gr8 day and try to get out and
enjoy it because I know it is sunny in Indiana lol!Tammy:)
 
Hey Amy, just stopping by to catch up. Boogers on the insurance thing. It seems like the lack of affordable healthcare issues in the US won't get solved until the people running this country are subjected to the same programs as the people who they represent. Have you read about the coverage they get? its ridiculous. Someone once told me that when the people that run the country are no longer subjected to the conditions of the people, the average citizens, thats when all great civilizations have fallen. he quoted a bunch of history that I can't remember but it made sense. And thats exactly the kind of civilization the US has advanced to. Such polarization is never a good thing.
 
I'm sooo not worried about me. I figured she'd just tell me to do what I'd been doing anyway. (Eat right, exercise, ect.) Like I said, I was thinking about canceling. I just get frustrated with the politics of it all.

Insurance woes. Healthcare woes. I know ALL about it as my parents aren't in the best of health, they have really good insurance, but only because I have seen time after time my mom arguing with the insurance companies, demanding the best healthcare possible. Insurance and healthcare is simply a business, no, they do not care.

Sorry to hear about the insureance, are you sure you cant convince them to take you on as anorexic ?
Maybe you could be like compulsive obsessive anorexic and feel compelled to eat tons and tons but really deep down you're anorexic and just keep throwing it up and swollowing it! :D
