I can totally see how surgery isn't an option for people, but my mother-in-law had gastric bypass and there was NOTHING easy about that! It was and is a very strict diet and she excersies EVERY day. I don't see it as a cop-out at all! It's very hard work!


Yeah, some people that have it done still eat what ever they want and gain all their weight back, but my mom-in-law is doing superb! She had the surgery in Jan of 2006.

She was really against it too, until she was near the verg of not walking anymore at 400lbs. Then she decided to do it.

It's given me a totally different opinion on the surgery!
 
I'm glad it worked for your mil. For some people it's a true life saver. It's also a very personal decision. I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that it was bad, it isn't at all. Nor do I think it's the easy way out all. I think it would be the hardest thing to do because of all it involves, the strict diet and intense exercise regimen plus the impact that is has on all of the body's normal functions. It's not the easy way out at all.

I just thing for me it would be me like me saying that I can't do it on my own. That I can't get my issues together. For me it would be cop out on my pride I guess, an emotional cop out of sorts. And too - if I must follow all of those things after the surgery, then I should do my best to make those changes before it becomes a true necessity.

Hi Guys!! Had a really good day, got all my weighs done, plus 30 minutes of Yoga AND 1/2 mile walk. But tonight I'm not feeling too good. Shakey and a bit down. Kind of crying right now. Not really sure why just want to go lay and bed and cry. :eek:

Food & Activity:
Breakfast: yogurt with raspberries, 1/4c. granola, 3 slices of bacon
Lunch: pan seared Hoki, 1c. spaghetti squash with paremsan cheese, 1/2c. cottage cheese
Supper: grilled pork steak, 1/2 baked potato with salsa & sour cream, 1/4c. canned corn
Snack: 2 chocolate chip cookies, 4oz. milk

Totals:
Calories (Goal 1640 - 1990): 1,241
Carbs (Goal 184 - 323): 120
Fat (Goal 36 - 77): 45
Protein (Goal 41 - 174): 87

Water: 106oz.
Exercise: 30 minutes yoga, 1/2 mile
Chin Stretches 50 reps.
Abdominal twists 50 reps.
Bicep curls 50 reps.
Crunches 75 reps.
Dumbell Rows 50 reps.
Hammer Curls 50 reps.
Leg Curls 50 reps.
Tricep Curls 50 reps.
Wrist Curls 50 reps.
Weighted Squats 50 reps.
Weighted Shrugs 50 reps.
Weighted Calf Raises 50 reps.
Tricept Kick Backs 50 reps.

Aww. *hugs* :( Maybe it's just the diet getting to you. Did you eat enough?? I notice your calorie intake is not as high as it needs to be. I've been getting like that too sometimes and I think its because of lack of food.

Sometimes a good cry is what we need. And there's nothing more to it than that! You have such a supportive and otpimistic attitude, it's okay not to be 100% positive all the time. Thanks for sharing this with us so that we can support you.

Thanks for your concern everyone. It could be low calories and a bit of stress mixed in just to make it complete. But I'm feeling better after a long chat with a friend. Think that's all I needed.. I think I'm going to go find something strong to drink, pop in a movie and lay in bed until I either fall asleep or pass out. :D




.. just kidding about the passing out part.

.. but not the stong drink. ;)

WHAT IS WITH THIS!? I swear you and I are the same person lol I JUST posted in my diary that I was feeling the same way and then I come in here to check on you and you say your shaky too....geeze first its too low calories and now this!? Please don't get pregnant I can't go through that right now lol
