Weight-Loss ~Pedometer Buddies~

Weight-Loss
Hi

You use 3lb weights Stacy - you strong woman. I take my 1kg (i.e. 2.2lb weights) on a walk round the block 3 times a day - feebly trying to encourage my arms to not go in for the loose skin look.

Do you know any good exercises for that?

---

Anyway my walking for Thursday was at more average levels.

Reading for Thursday 4th October

32,119 steps, 11.91 miles

I am going out on my long walk in a little while - just waiting for everywhere to warm up a bit as it is still pretty cold out there. I think that the weather will be nicer if I wait and set out about 8.30 a.m.

Some I do w/weights:

I put on some upbeat music - stand in place with back strait - make legs go out a bit and slightly bend knees - {looks like yer fixin' ta squat}

*Hold that pose and do even curls with weights for each arm.

~~~~
Upbeat music: Have the same kind of pose except this time you will punch out w/weights while bending legs back to rear...
Hard to explain..:confused:
You rotate.. When I punch out with right arm ; my left leg bends w/foot toward my rear.. I go back n' forth as long as I can..
I also briskly walk while holding weights and make sure to swing my arms.
Stacy
Thanks for the weights info - I will try some of them tomorrow.
I can certainly manage the upbeat music part. I will give it a go.
shanikachante - my pedometer gives instructions to basically take a set point and put your heel up to it. Then walk 10 steps and mark the point at the back of your heel and measure and divide by 10. This gives greater accuracy than just one step.
You can sanity check by
a/ measuring one step back of heel to back of heel (but front of toe to front of toe would work just as well).
b/ using the car tripometer to measure a distance that you walk regularly. I have a 6.3 mile walk that I do a lot. When you have it all set up - every now and again compare your start distance and end distance. It should come roughly similar to that calculated by the car.
I find for instance that my stride can change if I wear different shoes. I dont change these things all the time. It would be picky to reset your stride every time you change shoes. I recently however wore a hole through my favourite walking sandals and had to reset things again because I realised that things had changed.
Anyway my walking for Friday was at lower levels.
Reading for Friday 5th October
29,671 steps, 11.00 miles
I've cooled down from walk...
ZuZu has picked a nice spot by fan and she's still tryin' ta cool off..lol
We walked to the park - went up 2 hills {took the long route} - made 1 lap around pond - back home..
As we were going down the hills to get back home, ZuZu thought it would be great fun to run... :rolleyes: OMG I know I looked so stupid as I was gaspin' for air {bc of course I'm still very out of shape joggin' down this hill}
..I can only imagine what people were sayin'/thinkin' as they drove by.. :rolleyes: Oh well, who cares right?! :D
Briskly walking - At one point jogging - :D
Not great at all, but today was my study day. I didn't leave the house at all except to walk. I guess this will bring down my average, but I've just started this 10,000 steps a day thing. So I'm just going to have to work up to it. :)
Reading for Tuesday 9th October
*claps*
Its a "Charley Horse" Tx ... used to get them all the time ..
they suck ass and hurt like hell .. you almost can't walk at all ..but they are easy to fix ...
directions:
On both sides of your right or left leg (the one with the Charlie knot) put your RIGHT and LEFT hands, the balls of your hands, the harder part on both sides of your leg. Make fists. Slowly manouver your hands ..make circle motions into your leg around the knot. I forget which way, but you will figure it out. Because when your twisting the knot ..you get little knee jerks and its hurts like a bastard ..but if you quickly move your palms backwards I think it is ...and keep pushing in ...in a little and big circular motion ..it will untie the not ..and it will feel like nothing ever happened...
your leg might be weak at first, but the knot will be worked out and slowly walk around for a day ..no huge steps ..
thats the fix!
and by the way .. everytime I would stretch out of bed ..my balls of my feet would go all the way down ... my foot would retract and a knot would form and I would thrust my body up and just start undoing the knot ...but that was after I would scream ... ugh ..
and than in school ..I was so tense ... I would sit at the caf eating in high school and I would suddenly get one or two and not be able to walk .. I was late for class all the time ...lol because I would have to sit there ..while other people left and massage the outside of my leg ..and than it was weak ..so my steps were slow ..very slow ... dont over work it after you get the knot out ..walk slow and deliberate and it won't come back ...
best wishes
I am thinking about getting a pedometer ..hmm
always
Great job Margaret! :)
Natalie Jo:
Hi ya..:)
Nope, it wasn't that..I've had those before.. :)
It was a pulled muscle..It's almost healed now.. It took a lot of aspercream/heated massages/wrappin' up/ and care to get it well..lol
Oh and Ibuprofen for the terrible swelling..
It's a very small knot now with no swelling.. Hope it'll be gone soon!
I'm no longer in pain w/it though so that's good.
*waves*
