Please Help With Our Accountablity

Hi,
My name is Annette and I just joined this site. I need you guys to help with mine and my daughters accountability in losing weight.
My oldest daughter Lynn has been watching the show "The Biggest Loser" since it came on this season and got myself and my youngest daughter to watch it too a few weeks ago. All while watching it I kept thinking how cool it would be to lose that much weight but it didn't seem healthy to do it so fast.
After the show last night I said "wouldn't it be cool if we could get on the show" and my oldest daughter said it was too late to sign up.
We then decided we were going to do our own contest at home using youtube for accountability and record what we do, including video confessionals/diaries. We'll also be recording our weigh-ins starting tomorrow.
The contest starts tomorrow May 14 and ends Dec 31- we will each be putting money in a "pot" each week and at the end, whoever has lost the most weight gets the cash.
If anyone wants to watch the videos we set up the youtube at (I have a feeling I'll win lol)

It's 2:21am and I should be sleeping because our first weigh-in is at 9:30am tomorrow morning, or should I say, this morning.
One of the rules is that we have to wait till our weigh-in to start and to actually weigh ourselves. I'm hoping that I'm not heavier than I think I am.
It's funny, I remember back when I was a size 5 and it seems like yesterday.. it was actually 20 years ago. How did I let this happen to myself. blah.
Honestly, these videos are really embarassing.. but it's the type of accountablity that we (including my girls) need to actually stick with this. If people are watching, then we'll feel like we HAVE to show some loss at each weigh-in.
Ok, I am going to try to lay down. If I look like a zombi at my weigh-in, you know why.

wow this is such a great idea! gl at the weigh-in tomorrow. i need to weigh myself tomorrow as well but i am scared bc i have not been well disciplined and i know i will not like what i see.

looking forward to seeing what happens! :)
 
Welcome! I actually am currently in the middle of a Biggest Loser Challenge with my mom as well. It's really great to have someone around to kick your butt when you need it. This forum has been a great support. Good luck with your weight in and I hope we'll be hearing about your progress real soon. :)
 
Also, another thing about the Cheez-its and the cookies, maybe you should give all the boxes away to a church or a donation center. There are tons of people now in this economy that could use a delicious snack like that. :) IMO, the best thing to do is not to have temptation laying around like that.

That's a good idea, but it will be up to Mandi to make that decision. I read to her what you said and got an "awwww" in response.
 
what a great idea! :D good luck to you, and i look forward to following! definitely follow dreamingblue's advice and donate all the junk food to a food drive, or give it away to someone else.

its definitely easier when the temptation isnt in the house! again good luck and dont forget to record your progress here, im sure many of us will be following :hurray:

We will keep you posted. :) You can also subscribe to our videos on youtube to see when more are uploaded.
We will each be doing "confessionals" throughout the week as well. My confessional day is Saturday, Lynn's is Monday, and Mandi's is Wed.

I just got a domain!

I just bought a domain to put the videos on and set up a twitter account :)
They said it would be 24 hours before the set up is complete then I have to build the site. I'll let you guys know what it is after I get it all set up :)
I'll link to this forum too once I have it set up.
This is fun :)
 
Hi, Annette! I read your first post and wanted to say that my family is doing the Biggest Loser thing too! Well, kinda. But that idea is practically identical to yours. My mom is also doing it through her job, where she is a member of a whole group that does the weekly weigh ins and everything.

The videos (although sometimes embarrassing) seem to be a great way to keep you inspired. I saw this one guy on youtube that took a picture of himself every day for a year. It was really cool/inspirational.

Thanks. Lynn and I did the editing on it while Mandi slept (slacker lol). We kept laughing through the entire editing process.
Thanks for subscribing too!! That's what we need to keep us accountable, knowing that people are watching us. :)

wow, i just watched both your videos and LOVED them...you're all hilarious and i really liked the fact that it was real. i think the family BL idea is great! i'll keep checking in to see who's winning. all the best to all of you xoxo
 
hmm interesting video, but you guys really need to educate yourself on diet. Special K is Not gonna keep you full or help you loose weight, and its not particularly healthy either.

Try reading some of the sticky threads under the Newcommers area :D

Thanks! Lynn is the one that had the Special K for breakfast, Mandi had well... junk, and I didn't eat breakfast (yea, I know, bad for me).

I actually just got meal plans from another site and Lynn and Mandi are at the store now shopping. I will check out those sticky threads!! :)
