Our Accountablity

So I didn't workout this morning like I said I would, but I did spend extra time at the Y. I got in 124 minutes between the treadmill and bicycle and a total of 1042 calories burned. I felt amazing afterward with a ton of energy! :hurray:.
We went to the store right after working out and I really wanted to come home and workout some more. Well, after putting everything away and eating dinner I started feeling sore. So I don't think I'll be working out any more tonight. Luckily though, Mandi has to work tonight and I'm her ride. This means that I'll be up early again before weigh in so I'm going to the gym after I drop her off at home and pick up mom. I haven't asked mom if she wants to go yet but I'm sure she will! I just hope I don't have to wait for her to check her email and all that crap. I hate waiting when there's only a small amount of time before weigh in. :toetap05:
I think I'll go to bed early tonight after taking Mandi to work and watching I'm a Celebrity...

So I'm up early to pick Mandi up from work. I just got done waking mom up and told her to be ready to leave when I get back. I'm really excited for weigh in and want to see if can shred any more pounds by the time I get back....let's see...

Woo Hoo!! :hurray:

Weigh in #7

So, the 7th weigh in is up on . I'm not pleased with my results but can tell you honestly that it'll just make me try harder. I have yet to work out today because mom has a doctor's appointment at 10:30am, but after that we'll be going. She's even going to the doctor in her workout clothes so we can leave as soon as she gets back.
This morning for breakfast I had cantaloupe. I love cantaloupe so much I could live off it(if it had all the nutrients I needed to live off of). I had Subway yesterday for lunch and got a footlong but only ate half, so the other half will be my lunch. I'm not quite sure what we're going to do for dinner tonight but I need to be more careful if I want to make up for the last 2 weeks during next weeks weigh in.
I think I also need to switch up my workouts too cause I've noticed that I'm starting to gain or plateau. What I probably need to do is start sticking to our schedule. We created one like 3-4 weeks ago but haven't stuck to it even one week. Starting Monday, I'm going to stick to it for the whole week.

So this morning I went to work out after I brought Mandi home from work. Rather than wake mom up and risk being given a guilt trip about her not getting enough sleep, I went without telling her. When I got there, I chatted for about an hour and a half with the front desk lady and then finally got to working out. I did 32 minutes of each the treadmill and bicycle. I wanted to do some weights too, but since I knew mom would want to go later, I decided I'll do weights at that time. I'm also taking my kids to swim today too. Even though it's a Saturday, I'm doing this all the way today and I'm already feeling great.
Something else happened to me that I thought was pretty cool. When we first started eating better, we had zucchini with parmesan cheese on it. Well, today instead of craving something sweet or bad for me, I really wanted more zucchini. I'm eating it right now and it's super delicious! :drool5:

Over the last week I've been doing some football and Tae-Kwon-Do drills with Dizzle, my husband. Like 5 days ago, my right buttcheek/lower back started to have a twinge of pain. Then yesterday my left ankle started to have a slight pain again. I never thought I'd have so much trouble with my body when I'm making it healthier. It is discouraging I must say. Yesterday, I didn't get to do much at the gym because of it. I only walked on the treadmill for like 6 minutes before I decided to stop. I didn't want to push myself too hard and put myself out of commission again. Well today I went to the gym but took 2 Advil first to help with any pain I might have. I'm only hoping that I didn't mask the pain and end up hurting myself because I had the best workout I've had so far I think. I had a really nice 5 minute stretch. Then I did 25 minutes on the treadmill plus a 2 minute cool down. Now, normally I walk since I first hurt my ankle, but I thought I'd try and ramp it up a little bit. So I wound up trying to run again after a while and was actually able to run a full 3 minutes straight. When I was trying to run before, the longest I could go was 45-90 seconds. I'm over the discouragement I had yesterday. Like seriously! I'm proud of how far I've come in just a month and a half. I'm starting to find a happy balance with my time, food, and workouts, too. I'm feeling better about myself and I really think I will make it below 200 lbs by the end of this competition!

So I had Dizzle come with me when I did my workout tonight, with the camera. He's never recorded anyone before and tried to do his own "editing" while recording. Let's just say I got another workout(from laughing so hard) while editing the sound with mom. You'll see if you look at it. A lot of it is cut short to eliminate all that he recorded, but you can see bits and pieces. It was a good workout. I was proud that I had the shortest mile time that I've had since 9th grade. I'm really happy that I accomplished that. Now if I could just get to that original goal, then I'd really be ecstatic! I really need to get to bed. I'll be up at 7am to get Mandi from work and then work out for a bit before weigh in.

Lynn

Okay, so along with the workout video I posted last night, we now have our week 8 weigh in up at
Something I thought was really cool is that mom(Annette) posted our before and afters from 5/14/09-7/2/09. In mom I could see a change in her midsection. In Dizzle I could see his lovehandles thinning out. In Mandi I saw that she's getting definition in her abs and her face is thinning. In me, my face has thinned out so much it's incredible! We've all been doing so good, I'm proud of all of us.:hurray:
Oh, and the coolest thing happened today. Remember last night I was just under 15 minutes for my mile time. Well this morning before weigh in mom and I went to the gym and I ran faster and a little bit more. My mile time is now just below my goal of 14 minutes...13:53. :D
I'll be heading back to the gym around 5pm when the child watch is open again. I think I'm doing boxing class tonight, as long as the instructor is back to work. She's been sick for like a week I think so hopefully she's doing better and back to work. If not, oh well, I'm starting to like running.:willy_nilly:

Last night Dizzle, my mom, and I went to the gym and competed to see who could finish a mile the quickest on the treadmill. I won with 14:14 but only 4 minutes into it and I could tell that I hurt myself again. Whatever muscle is between my calf and ankle on my left leg is killing me. :( I'm really hoping that I can get back to working out tomorrow. I'm taking it easy today because I don't want to hurt myself worse than I already am. I'm taking part in the postcard challenge and would really love to win! I've never won anything like this before so I think it would be fabulous to get postcards from all over the world. Since I'm just :chillpill: today I've been doing a bit of research to try to get past this plateau. I've been hanging out around 265-262 for the last 2-3 weeks and it's discouraging. Like a lot. Like I said though, I'm doing what I can to get past it because I have a goal reward set up for myself. I really want to get a new hair do. I figure once I've lost a total of 50lbs(since my biggest, not since the comp. started), I'll get the haircut. It'll be a shorter 'do so I don't want to have this huge double chin with it. That's why it's such a good goal, I think. Off to do some more research now. If you have any amazing advice on getting past a plateau, please please please let me know.

Thanks,
Lynn

First off, congrats on how far you have already come. I am in the same boat as you, I too have been hovering around the same weight going on 2 weeks. It is completely discouraging, but the bright side is that it is not going up either. As you look at your progress, you can at least be satisfied that youre keeping weight off, this usually is a bright side for me anyways.

Also, I have 9 more pounds until I meet my immediate goal weight, then I promised myself a new phone since my old one is so old :D

Good luck with the loss! Keep it up!

Thank you so much Blancita and Andy. It feels so good to come off this plateau! I couldn't be happier. The thing that helped me come off the plateau was doing Turbo Jam. I was literally stuck between 262-265 up until Saturday when I started TJ and then it started coming off. I'm thrilled that I didn't fall off the weight loss wagon while I plateaued but I'm in it for the long haul and NEED to be successful in this both for myself to be healthier and to teach my kids about living a healthy lifestyle.
We've got weigh-in in a little over an hour and I want to get my Turbo Jam and shower done before filming and weigh in. I'll let everyone know when the video is posted.

Lynn

So, I've been off the forum for about a week. I took 3 days off from working out partially because of laziness and partially because I pulled my Achilles tendon. I was able to walk on it fine and stuff but I knew I wouldn't be able to exercise at all. I'm feeling much better now and yesterday I actually broke my mile record by a lot at 12:40. For me that's a big deal. I walked for the first 2 minutes at 3mph and then ran the entire rest of the time(without stopping) for 10:40 at about 5mph but went up to 6mph for 30 seconds twice. I was so proud of myself because the fastest I could go before was 13:49. That was such a huge accomplishment for me and I hope to be able to do it again today. I've also been doing Turbo Jam here at home. I think that is what helped me overcome my plateau last week. I think that my results were so great last week to make up for the plateau that I was on for 5 weeks and that my results this week will be not even close. I have to weigh in tomorrow for the Postcard challenge and then Thursday for the competition. I like the postcard challenge but feel like it takes the "sticker shock" away from my Thursday competition results.
Dizzle will be leaving for a week on Sunday for his new job with AT&T. He gets to take an all expenses paid trip to Atlanta, GA. I'm happy for him but jealous at the same time because he gets to take a free trip. It's not like he gets to have a ton of fun there though because we've both been unemployed for long enough that we have no extra spending money.
Alright, time for Turbo Jam. I have the 20 minute workout and Ab Jam today. Then off to the gym around 5pm.

Lynn

Hey all! I just got done with the 20 minute Turbo Jam workout! I feel like I was able to put so much into it today! I have to take my mom to the bank about 40 miles away and then we're going to the fair tonight. I'll do Ab Jam after I make a late visit to the gym. They're only open tonight until 9pm so I'm hoping we'll be home in time for me to get a quick run in at least. Time to shower and then off to the bank.

Hey Lynn, I believe Korrie noted in the post card challenge that you could use any weigh in day once a week, so I believe you could always just post your weight on Thursdays after your video weigh-in instead of Wednesdays.

Wish Dizzle luck on his new job for me! That is awesome in this horrible economy, good for y'all!

Ya know, I think I will change my days to Thursdays and then just on the last day of the postcard challenge I'll do it on Wednesday so that I'm not late. Thanks for thinking of that for me.
I'm not going on my run today because we're going to the fair and mom says that we'll be there later than 9pm when the gym closes, but I am doing Ab Jam when I get home. I really like Ab Jam, but I hurt so good the next day! :smilielol5:
I'll let Dizzle know. He's really excited about the trip but luckily he won't be gone for too long. He'll make his first trip on Sunday through the following Friday. Then he'll work for a week at the store and then go back to Atlanta on the same schedule for one more week. So he'll miss weigh ins 10 and 12 but will be here for 11. I'll send a scale with him so that he can weigh in and send me a picture with his phone so that the results aren't altered for the competition though.
Alright, off to the fair!

Lynn

So last night at the fair we had a pretty good time. It was me, my mom, and my 3 and 4 year olds. They had a blast! My son wanted to go on his first "upside-down" ride, so I went on it with him. I didn't think it would be bad but once we started spinning upside down my fat was buckled in so tightly that it hurt so incredibly bad I'm not doing that again until I'm at least 100 lbs lighter(which should be by next year:D). Last night when we got there, we realized that it was actually quite expensive. It cost us $60 for 4 armbands to go on however many rides we wanted. We didn't get there until around 7:30 so my mom wanted to make sure we got our money's worth. So we ended up staying there until 11pm and by the time I got home, I was so pooped that I passed out.
Today, I went to the gym and wanted to try to decrease my mile time. Last time I got it done in 12:40 but I started off the mile with a 2 minute walk. So today I walked for a few minutes and then reset the timer to start my mile. I ran the entire thing this time mostly at a 5mph and then at the end sped up to a 6mph pace. I got done within 11:51!!! I feel so accomplished now!
I hope everybody's doing good. I have weight in tomorrow so I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Did Lynn's 'fad diet' work?. Some lost, some gained, some gained BIG. Who is the biggest loser of the week?

Hey everyone! I went to the gym before weigh in and walk/jogged a mile. Then I passed out on the couch for about 4-5 hours after weigh in cause I didn't get enough sleep last night and I was exhausted from pushing myself so hard over the last 3-4 days. I feel good now but I'm not tired...which is a problem cause I have to get up with the kids in the morning. My kids have like a mental alarm clock and wake up at about 7am every morning.
I got some new workout shoes today, which caused me to be late for a boot camp class I wanted to take tonight. The shoes are cheapy Wal-mart shoes but since we've been looking for jobs the last 4 months, it was all I could afford. My other shoes were falling apart at the sole and since I've lost weight, I've also went from a size 9 shoe down to a size 8. I didn't know that could happen until the fitness coordinator at the gym told me it happened to her. Well, I got to the gym like 2 minutes after it started and I don't like walking into classes late so I was just gonna get on the treadmill and do weights after. But, I told them yesterday that I was coming so they saved me a spot and waved me to come in. I was a bit embarrassed because I was like the biggest one in there but I'm glad I went. They hold the boot camp in the basketball gym and my hubby was on the other side of the gym, so when he saw me join in the class he came over too. It made me happy to know that I had someone there who was just as beginner as me with the exercises. It was a strength boot camp so the had stations where you do circuit training and then rotate. I had to modify each exercise but got through it all. I was really surprised because when I still had like 10-12 stations yet to do, they said it was over. It went so fast!
Well, I think I'm going to head to bed because I need to be rested enough so I don't fall asleep in the middle of the day like that. Plus, I heard that your metabolism resets when you sleep.

Night!!!
Lynn
