One day at a time...

Sounds like you are really feeling the benefits of a healthier lifestyle!!! I am the same - the more I exercise, the more energy I seem to have! I've started running at lunch times from work along the canal in the city - I didn't do it for so long because I thought I'd be knackered all afternoon, but in fact, I feel envigorated and alive!! (primarily becaues I can't work out how to get the work shower to go hot...so it ends up being an ice cold shower!!! LOL). But seriously I have way much more energy to get through the day - its weird.

Thanks HighZone!

Slept in til noon today. But that's because I didn't go to sleep until 2am because I am used to the Midnight shift. Had to take a sleeping pill to get to sleep. So of course I awoke at noon feeling like I got run over in the middle of the night. Unfortunately it's what I have to do... because when I go back to work on Wed I'll be on days... and they start at 6am.

Decided not to go to the gym today and walk the dog for a while instead. Unfortunately mother nature had other plans and it started raining 10 mins in. We went to visit my parents instead.

I got a few belly dancing DVDs today. Figured I should get some exercise DVDs to do at home for something different. I can't do anything too strenuous because I am very unfit and I don't want to injure that one knee that gives me problems. Plus I figured if it was too hard it would discourage me. I always thought belly dancing was pretty darn cool so I picked up a few of those. I have to take frequent breaks but it's fun!

I noticed today while I was at the store to buy the DVDs that I am walking a heck of a lot faster... which is awesome. AND... stairs don't hurt as much as they used to. Don't get me wrong - I still huff and puff like crazy but my legs and feet just seem to be more willing to do the steps. I love seeing little improvements like that.

Hey there mystic blue,
Nice work on the fitness, I love the feeling when something becomes a little easier to do. I have a flight of stairs at work and I'm no longer breathless when I get to the top!

Belly dancing DVD's sound cool. Let us know if they're any good :)

I'm a shift worker too. Rotating shifts are the worst (I work a rotating roster too ugh). Luckily I can get to sleep easily otherwise I'd find it pretty hard. Good luck with it all.

Anna

Ok Mystic, it's Monday and we are all looking forward to your progress report. Oh yes and the belly dancing DVDs. How did they work out?

Thanks for the accountability HighZone :p

Weighed in at 299.00 this morning. Which means I am down 8.8 pounds this week :)

Belly dancing is good. I like how it increases the flexibility of your core. Gives your spin a nice stretch. I did a bit of it again last night.

Feel really tired today. ToM is here. But it's also this switching shifts all the time thing. It's just so hard.

Have today and tomorrow off though I have to go in today for about an hour to get something done. Guess I had better do it now so that I don't end up thinking about it all day. Think I need a coffee.

Congrats on the 8.8lbs loss!

I too agree with the music helping..I had been using my treadmill without it and barely going 20min. but since I added music, I can go an hour between the treadmill and bike, no problem.

Belly dancing sounds fun. I'm looking into getting some Zumba dvd's.

Nice loss!!!! I agree about feeling so good too when something starts to become easier. It's a great feeling. Hope your week goes well.

Hello,
I just wanted to say hi too, and congratulations so far, you're doing so well!
It's not easy, that's for sure, but we can definitely do it :)
Keep up the great work!

Thank you very much to the well-wishers!

Well, my back hurts. Hurts pretty bad. Lower back, left side. I haven't been to the gym in 4 days. 2 days because they were my days off and I was being lazy, 2 days because of my back. Pain going down my left leg and radiating from my back to the front of my stomach. Maybe I slept on it wrong, maybe it's reacting to exercise after years of not exercising. Hmph. Bought some heat rub to put on it tonight... gonna take something for the pain. Guess I will be taking it easy until it gets better. Have been eating well. Oh, and tonight I caught a glimpse of myself in a store window and did a double take. My stomach is smaller than it used to be :)

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hope the back works itself out. Nothing I hate worse than being sidelined whenI'm starting to get some momentum going.

Take it easy on it, maybe look into some ligth stretching exercises and such to help it ease up and get back to normal. To me, it sounds like it could be a spasm of some kind.

Sorry to hear that you are in pain Mystic - hope it clears up soon. 8lbs down you should start to notice stuff like smaller stomach. Why not take some side pics (just for yourself), in the same place with the same clothes on and then you can line them all up at the end of each month or whenever you need an extra boost and go "WOW I didn't notice that happening day by day but it sure all adds up!!"

Yea Cabbie I think it is a spasm. Sucks to get sidelined for sure.

Thanks jay... I might do the photo thing. It's a good idea.

Well, my back is still messed up. I've been stretching, applying heat rub, etc for a few days now and if anything it's feeling worse. I'm going to go in my parents hot tub tonight. The only other thing I can think of is to apply ice to it several times a day. Suppose I could bring an ice pack to work with me tomorrow. The chiropractor is my last resort. It costs me 35.00 each visit. Crazy!

Had way too many drinks (red wine) Thursday night. Unfortunately that lead to a serious case of hungry and I over ate. Good thing was that I forgave myself and jumped right back on my horse the next morning and have been eating well since. To err is human, to give up be because of it is stupid.

Scale hasn't budged at all this week. Weigh in is in 2 days and I don't know that I will see a loss. The last few times that I tried to lose weight I got stuck at 299.00 and when the scale wouldn't go below that for a fee weeks I would get discouraged and quit. But I suppose if I keep at it, my body will get the point and lose. I hope my back gets better soon so I can get back to the gym.

I just had that happen after about 8lbs the scale stopped moving for a could of weeks. It is so disheartening, but finally its on its way down again.

I read this theory (somewhere on this forum) that the fat cells which have emptied of fat fill up with water, and it takes the body a little time to release that water.

Its always the time that I've given up in the past... good on you for getting back on the horse after the wine night. THat's what we all need to do to succeed:)

Anna

Hey,
I was just reading your posts and I wanted to say good job. Your post are always very encouraging. Sorry about the back but don't give up :D

Back still hurts but think it may be improving a bit. At work right now with no internet access so i'm typing on my iPhone. Working afternoons tonight and have to come in for days tomorrow - gonna be tired.

Well, I jumped in the scale this morning and saw some encouraging numbers. Looks like my dreaded "stuck at 299.0" thing didn't last too long this time around. My official weekly weigh in is tomorrow morning.

Small victory today = water. I was having a hard time drinking it and was struggling to get 1 litre down at work but today I managed 2 liters at work. Awesome!

Oh, BTW.... anna.banana - I wonder if that is true about vacated fat cells and water.... hmmm

Thank you so much island girl and healthyjess for the encouragement.
