On my way to 63kgs

I went and got weighed this morning and only lost 100g. I knew that the 1.5kg loss last week was too good to be true. Oh well if I average out the 2 weeks it works out at 800g a week which is about normal for me.
I'm not disheartened as I will just step up the exercise this week. I haven't had my Wii out for a couple of weeks so need to get going on that.

Oh dear! That can be so discouraging! I'm glad you're not taking it to heart and keeping your chin up.
Thinking of the average over the last weeks is certainly sensible. And your average is good.

Doesn't weight loss always slow down after a while? Even if you eat right and exercise? The first kilos seem to fly off, but the longer you slog on, the harder they are to pry off. And you've been losing for quite a while now.

I'm glad to hear you're a fellow Wii fan. My daughter and I both use Wii Fit. I especially like Rythym Boxing and Hula Hoop!

My daughter (nearly 17) has also just started runnning, btw! So, like you, I now have a fitness pal in the family! It's so nice.

I love the Wii also. I like the boxing but I'm so uncoordinated that at the higher level I can't coordinate arms and legs. I like the hula hoop, jogging and the step. I have bought extension feet for the wii board to make it as high as a normal step board but it gets boring as it's always the same. I wish they would come out with a proper step dvd for the Wii as step is my favourite form of exercise. Sometimes my daughter and myself put on a musical like grease or chicago and she sits and peddles on the exercise bike and I do step. It's amazing how much exercise you can do when you are distracted watching a film.

I COMPLETELY agree about the step segments! I'd thought about buying the riser for my board, but then thought I wouldn't get good use out of it, as I find the step bits so repetitive. Even just some different music and a couple of new moves would break the monotony!
I much prefer my step dvds.

I like the Wii boxing because I do find it challenging enough not to get dull.

I have a lot of fun with the balance games. My favorite is the bubble where you race down the river. I've got my whole family beat at that one!

We have a lot of fun with the balance ones and the only one that I am not totally useless at is the bubble one. I am really bad at the one where the bird has to land on targets but my husband is good at it and so funny to watch and my daughter likes the one where you run along bridges and jump over logs and dodge things. We often get the wii out when we have people round and is always loads of fun.

Well I've joined the Lazy Days of Summer contest which will encourage me to exercise more and also not to eat so much so as not to let my team down. This weeks challenge is to do an exercise each day that we either don't like or is new to us. There are so many things that I bought for the Wii that I haven't even tried yet so will give some of them a go this week. I haven't done the yoga on the Wii fit and I also have a personal trainer disc, a dancing one and a Biggest loser one that we haven't even got out of the boxes so have got plenty of things to have a go at.
We just went and got kebabs but I shared one with my Dad and didn't eat the chips. Don't know how many calories in half a kebab but I will assume it is extremely high and eat fruit and veg for the rest of the day.
Also I'm going out for a walk with my hubby later and he says that he has found somewhere to take me with loads of really steep hills. Not looking forward to that in this heat but will feel great afterwards. I like walking with my husband as it gives us time to really talk without distractions.
I wish some of you lived near enough to exercise with as my daughter has such a busy life at the moment and rarely does any of it with me. It's so much more fun with somebody else.

Just got back from the hardest walk that I have ever done. We walked fast for half and hour and then arrived at some stone steps which were my husbands 'surprise' for me. They were uneven and very steep and there were 470 of them. 23 minutes later we when we reached the top I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest. Not only that but there were more hills to climb after that but I was quite surprised and pleased at how quickly my heart rate returned to normal. One and a half hours walked altogether. I thought that the requirements of the competition was 100 mins of exercise a day so thought that I had to do 10 mins more but I just looked and it's 100 a week :)
The walk was so worth it though as the sea views from the top were spectacular.

Awh, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like your husband is looking for ways to challenge you which is AWESOME. It's great having support, even if you do want to kill them occasionally for making us work-out and eat right! My SO often looks at me when I'm raiding the fridge and gives me "the look" which sends me back to bed with my tail between my legs! Have a beautiful sunday and good luck for the week coming up! You can do it!

Lol, I know that look!! My husband is great though, he wanted to go and watch a world cup football match but knew how much I wanted to go out for a walk so phoned his friend and said that he would go at half time. He's very fit but was a bit overweight and is losing weight along with me as I'm cooking much healthier meals now. I told him about the competition and that's why he took me to the steps as he knew I had to do something that I don't like or something new each day. I hate the stairs but love the feeling of achievement you get afterwards. I can't believe the difference in my fitness levels. 6 months ago I could hardly climb one flight of stairs without being out of breathe.

That's great. It sounds like the challenge is really inspiring you!

As for the kebab- I looked on MyPlate and a few other places. A classic lamb "doner kebab' seems to average about 700 calories. Half is just 350, which is not crazy high. Just FYI :)

thanks Rox. Great to know that no damage was done. I counted it as 600 calories so I have actually gained some calories with it. :)

Its interesting how we all expect a doner kebab to be SO bad that we are almost pleasantly suprised when its only 700 cals?? It feels like it should be over 1000!! In reality though, a plate of lasagna and chips is probably worse! I usually have chicken shish kebab as a treat - plain pitta, salad and tomatoes in side (but no sauce) and around one chicken breast marinaded and grilled - probably around 350-400 cals max...and delicious.

Well done on all the walking!!! And very well done to the husband for missing out on the football - that's love for yoU!

Had a great day for exercise today. I went for a walk with my hubby early this afternoon as there was no sun. We walked for 12 kms. There's a new walkway that starts from up in the hills right down to the coast and because I have to try new things for the summer challenge everytime we got to a hill or steps we ran instead of walking. I was exhausted when we got back as there were lots of hills especially on the way back but now after a nice long shower and a rest I feel great and am so pleased that I can actually run.
I can't believe the difference in my lung power compared to a few months ago. I wouldn't have thought it possible to get as fit as I am. :)
If I haven't lost much weight when I get weighed on Wednesday I will be seriously p*ssed off. My scales aren't showing a loss but they just seem to make up a weight everytime I get on them.

@jjjay, I was amazed that a kebab wasn't higher. I expected it to be well over a 1000 cals.
Yep my husband is great, he knows how much I want this so is really supportive and has never ever said anything negative to me about the way I had let myself become although now he has told me that he was worried about my health.

Feeling a bit dissapointed. After all the hard work this week I only lost 300g and that is following only 100g last week. That works out at about a pound in 2 weeks. :(
I think that the problem might be that I am still eating the same amount of calories as when I weighed 18 kg more than I do now, so I will try to go down slightly and see what happens. Oh well at least both weeks have shown losses not gains.
I feel that I am so close to achieving my goal but that I will never get there.

My son has just asked his girlfriend to marry him and she said yes so this time next year we'll be having a wedding :) It's the absolute best incentive to keep the weight off once it's all gone. I was sort of dreading my son announcing a wedding because I would have hated to have to be in the photos looking awful. Now I'll be able to buy something really nice and in a normal size :):):)

That sounds like great motivation to keep the weight off and chose a fantastic outfit!!! You only have ayear to look...better get started!!

Ooo awesome and gratz! Make sure to post pics here of possible dresses :D I want to live vicariously, lolz

Speaking of clothes there's a show on TLC network here...don't know if you guys get it there but its called "What Not to Wear". People get nomited, or occasionaly nominate themselves. Then with help of friends and family the show goes and spies on them for two weeks and says yep, you dress horrible, lol. Consolation, here's 5000 dollars for a new wardrobe, a trip to new york and a total makeover. So yea, I'm gonna lose all my weight, nominate myself and where oversized stretchy pants and t-shirts till they come rescue me, lmao. Oh and HORRIBLE shoes.....for some reason that seems to be the deal closer, lolz.

So anyway you must be so excited to be gaining a daughter :) Are you helping with the wedding coordinating at all?

Thanks. I won't be choosing dresses for ages yet but will keep my eye out meanwhile. I don't know anything about the wedding yet as my son is away on holiday and just phoned me up today to tell me their news so won't know the details until they come home. I couldn't wish for a better wife for him, she's a lovely girl and we get on great.

That show sounds fun, you should definitely apply but once you've lost your weight you won't be able to bare to go round looking a mess. We have a similar show called How to Look Good Naked where they are shown how to dress to suit their bodies and end up with a new wardrobe of clothes and a makeover but not on such a grand scale as the programme that you are talking about. I love watching it as you pick up great fashion tips which very soon I'll start applying :).

I think I saw previews for that show but never watched it....if I'm thinking about the same show. Ah yea :) I googled, its the one I'm thinking with Carson Kressley in it. I'll have to look for that now to see if I can tape it.

Don't know who Carson Kressley is but the presenter is called Gok Wan. He's great as he weighed about 300lb when he was a teen and is now slim. His show is all about making you feel confident in the body you have and how to dress from the high street shops and look as though you are a fashion model. He also does another show called Gok's Fashion Fix. I don't usually like fashion programmes but he makes it all so obtainable for all of us and gives so many great tips about how to dress.
BTW they are both English shows but check them out if you get the chance.
